Title: Retro gaming - who's into it?
Post by: FilesFM_Announcements on October 25, 2018, 12:36:48 PM
It seems to be all the vogue right now to want to play older retro consoles, I myself miss my NEO GEO MVS, Sam Coupe sinclair, C64, CPS2 arcade boards.

I wonder if anybody else here is reminiscing on the old gaming machines of this period.. what is it that draws is to them.. is it a simpler time in our lives?

I was really tempted to buy a Family Computer I found in a flea market in Japan. It was in very good condition too. It was just too bulky to bring back home. It should have been fun to reminisce using the very thing and not just an emulator. It was simple back then but it was fun.
Now, we have VR gaming, full immersion feels. There also seems to be an update / upgrade just about every month. I would have been mindblown if I had toys that we have right now.

Akihabara is a great market place for buying those things, and yes I think they generally are well looked after machines.. Ive wanted to get a NEO GEO from there but the problem is I would need some kinda step-down voltage converter as its the Japanese market.. :(

emulators man; its not the complete experience.. I don't know why.. I know its the rom in software.. but I feel cheated by the emulator experience.. I also think the 25mhz to 50mhz clock speeds which were a crystal on the motherboard isn't replicated truly in emulation...

maybe its just me..  ;D
