Japanese technology multinational Sony revealed it is working on a blockchain-powered extension of its digital rights management system Monday. The project is a joint endeavor with both Sony Music Entertainment Japan and Sony Global Education.

The press release notes that this “new system” is built off of Sony and Sony Global education’s previously developed system for “authenticating, sharing, and rights management of educational data, and additionally features functionality for processing rights-related information.”

“Sony Group is also considering innovative ways to make use of blockchain technology for information management and data distribution in a host of different fields,” it added.

In August, the U.S. Patent and Trademarks Office (USPTO) released two Sony patents that had been filed for boosting blockchain-based ecosystems.

How does this actually tie in to cryptocurrencies though? They don't need to use cryptocurrencies in order to have a blockchain, all it really serves to do it act as an indication of the potential of blockchain technology.

Though the good news is worthy of applause but going through the whole article i found out things that might not be good at the moment. According to the news i quote "In April, CCN reported that Sony filed an application for a patent to store users’ digital rights data on the blockchain. In its patent application, Sony warned that “conventional solutions may not be very reliable and rely on one unique point of failure which could lead to the loss of all the acquired content."

Cryptocurrency Always associated with blockchain technology for now, When people hear Blockchain they always associate it with Bitcoin (In My Country) So i think this will lead people's opinion to a more positive direction, First they will try to buy or read what is Bitcoin then Blockchain. This is just my opinion, with mass adoption of blockchain technology that indicates that this technology is being accepted by many people and maybe have a effect on cryptocurrency price (?).

The point is when a large company starts to adopt or give an opinion that they will use Blockchain technology, (This is case for people on my country) They will start to be curious about blockchain and the first stage is Bitcoin (Most people in my country like this) Or Cryptography (For some people).

A company like sony creating a blockchain  powered systems is a good news for the blockchain technology, however I think in order to protect the project cryptocurrency from market manipulations and this volatility.
 A different approach to other projects should be taken regarding it token sales and distribution.
Sony is a reputable company and this is showing that blockchain is really the future of technology.

wow, I don't think if Sony has propagated to the blockchain world, what its obvious development will not be disappointing. we are together waiting for Sony to change the world.

This is a good news to the cryptocurrency community considering that Sony is a giant company and they are very legitimate that can boost confidence to crypto investors. I wouldn't be surprise if they use blockchain technology because Sony is a Japanese company if i am not wrong and Japan is a friendly country to cryptocurrency.

It's really a nice thing to see more tech giants adopting blockchain technology and building something with it and these people that keeps joining the space always give me hope that the future of cryptos and blockchain is bright.

You do actually have the point because if Blockchain technology had been recognized and tend out to be adopted or to be used on their industry then it cant really be avoided on having such curiosity entirely about
Cryptocurrency which would really lead out into the end on knowing Bitcoin and other related cryptos in the market but the thing isnt a guarantee is that it doesnt signify that they will jump in also.The decision would always vary on their own views towards it.

Lol you can't even understand the meaning of this news, it's about blockchain and there was on correlation with crypto. I thought that you must read that article carefully to take the main thing. Sony is about to create its own blockchain solution and this company never try to mention crypto. This looks very true consider about the company always talking about blockchain.

I was also reading the other day that Sony has silencely released its innovative, contactless  hard wallet and now this, it is truly wonderful to see the mainstream giant companies are coming up with blockchain related products and solutions, in other words world is now accepting the reality and worth of cryptos so everyone is jumping on board which is great for adoption.

This is great and positive news for the "Blockchain and Crypto-Community"I hope that more multinational companies will ride the Blockchain Bandwagon and developed their product so that the Blockchain base Community will prospere and developed further to achieve the goal.

Okay good news. But I want to know a more specific reason. I want people to answer the questions that are related to this. How big is the problem are they going to solve? And why is the problem they are giving a solution should be solved?

Sony is really a best tech based company and If it tries to find solution of blockchain system, it definitely will. They have the best minds working for anything and the solution is inevitable.

This is very promising news as such a big company like Sony is adopting the blockchain technology would encourage more businesses to help integrate the technology into their own systems as well. Completely agree with you. Of course it is good that lots of companies are interested in the intergrating the Blockchain technologies into their systems and production. But of course they can make lots of statements about their aims and ideas, but we should make conclusions according to the result and the real working system or product on Blockchain, so we would be really able to say that these technologies and their intergration into our lives is a good and strong step.

Very well done. It is great to see that companies employ blockchain technology in their internal systems. Authentication and rights management is one of the "most value-added" areas of blockchain technology. I hope they will come up with something client-facing on a blockchain.

Not just Sony, a lot of big companies are working on making their lives easier with proper blockchain solutions to their troubles because blockchain can actually give you a lot of ease of use and tracking.

Sony seems to be one of the big names we heard so far but even Bank of America which is one of the biggest banks in all of USA has a lot of blockchain patents which means they are working towards solutions for themselves as well (or hopefully, otherwise they might just lease those patents to other companies for profits).

I think blockchain solutions are loved by big companies who are not even interested in crypto right now, which means blockchain adoption will be faster than crypto adoption. There are a lot fo blockchain companies that gets funded as well by the VC companies but I honestly believe that will slow down in time.

This is good and bad news. The technology will survive which means that bitcoin in theory should also do well, but for ICO's offering a service it is not that good. When a company needs something they will create it themselves rather than source an ICO company offering it as a service

i'm not seeing sony was mentioning crypto in this case. They are interesting to createt the blockchain because it has veryr big potential to be adopted as the future payment system.
