Two days ago Vitalik Buterin announced that Ethereum 2.0 is "Really Not So Far Away".
The major change will be the transfer to proof of stake concensus algorithm (aka Project Casper). For those who don't know, proof of stake is ownership-based and will not require "mining" as we know it.

What are your thought about this?

Vitalik is a very intelligent person. This is something the world has accepted. No matter what anyone says in Ethereum,it is number two. The biggest crypto money after bitcoin. I expect a big uptrend after the 2.0 update.

I hope this update will boost Ethereum to the moon, because this coin deserves to be on the top of the market. Moreover, the update looks really amazing and game changing. Lets just wait for the release and be patient.

I hope proof of stake works out, but I'm not sure it's ready for prime time. Good luck Vitalik.

If he release that, that was very exciting. Many people will looking again on the ETH and maybe can defeat the #1 crypto in the world. I am not predicting okay? I only base on the situation if this will happen soon.

I think this is a welcome development to the entire cryptocurrency community in general and the Ethereum investors in particular, the emergence of Proof of Stake(Project Casper) consensus mechanism will boost the dwindling Ethereum price. Thanks for the information.

Actually this new is good, but I'm not sure in VItalik Buterin, if He can truly realize that it will be great for all of us, and ethereum become more popular than now, but now it's just a words.

ETH needs some changes, and if what Vitalik says is true then we will soon see ETH come back, ETH last time was dumped by the ICO and now they will cause ETH price come up again

Due to the upcoming upgrade of Ethereum, I was forced to buy ETH and luckily I am able to buy below $200. It looks like I am catching up in the boat.

Well, Vitalik's decision in upgrading ETH will surely hype people and maybe this could be the cause of another bullrun.

Well, this is good and bad from my point of view. Coins that are mined by the Pow algorithm cost much more than those mined by Pos. B pos there is a big problem in that a large whale can control the blockchain network and influence the course. Many ico projects come up with different concensus algorithm to attract investors. And such a step gives at least some technological development of the community.

Last I heard was this will be next year - 2019. Anyway, lets see where this leads.
As it is right now, Ethereum has the most number of wallet users even compared to btc. I can't recall where or which article it was.

This is definitely a very good news. In any case, many will not want to sell ethereum at the first opportunity but accumulate in order to receive dividends. It is a very competent move and I am sure that after an increase in the speed of transactions and a large-scale update, ethereum will cost much more.

I can't say if this is already a good news but there must be something of a new development besides that casper or the POS we look forward to. But if they have figured to make fees lesser than how much it will be by the time ETH price goes up, then I think the chances of ETH being used by more developers are good even with the existence of other platforms like EOS.

Ethereum 2.0 will be basically the start of a faster ETH network. All these coins which are basically bad clones of ETH but faster will stop erupting. Speed is the major disadvantage of ETH and that will be solved with this update. Also the switch to POS will mark an end to ETH based ASIC mining. So yes, lots of hope from ETH with this update. But I think it will start being implemented from January 2019.

I'd like to believe that Accelerator knows what he is doing, because Ethereum has fallen very badly, it can even revive the coin and give growth!

It is an uplifting news . Choice in updating ETH will most likely promotion individuals and mabe this could be the reason for another bullrun .  good luck .

wow! if this is going to be launched, there would be alot of people who will buy eth and hold.  the only downside is that those who are mining eth will have to find other coins to mine.  do you have more information about coin roi?

This will become a big thing in the future consider vitalik has said that the developer will think to make the minimum requirement can be filled even by a small holders. This means if everyone able to participate in the staking. I guess that will bring a lot of benefit to the ethereum in the future and i just waiting for that.

in my opinion it's the same as increasing supply with other versions and the impact will definitely be bad on the old version especially with prices falling, this will make the old version of ethereum owners suffer a lot of losses because people will move to new ones and will make the old one neglected

An update is really necessary. Ethereum (https://coincodex.com/crypto/ethereum/) transactions are way to slow to build any useful app on it.

I have also read that eth new upgrade will be huge as it will not only result in change of algorithm but also it will improve the scalability issue by 1000x which is huge, im sure we can expect 10x raise in value after this upgrade im really excited about it.
