Title: Trade ETH from Trezor
Post by: MadGamer on November 02, 2018, 03:35:43 PM
Does anyone know If there is a way to trade your ether for something else using ShapeShift without having to send them to another wallet? this feature seems to be working for BTC, LTC etc. but whenever you choose Ethereum inside the Trezor, It will refer you to myetherwallet or mycrypto so there is no way to do the exchange in the wallet itself.

That's what always happens. You're just not seeing it because it's happening directly from your Trezor, so they send the coins to the right address for you.

Why don't you want to send them to ShapeShift's address?

Is it possible?

Bitcoin, Litecoin etc. have a tab for "exchange" like the screenshot below:

But for Ethereum, you'll be redirected to MyCrypto or Myetherwallet because the web interface doesn't have ether in the first place, so where I'm supposed to exchange?

As you wrote, Ethereum is not available in the web interface. They are working on it but there is no specified date. However, ShapeShift accepts Ethereum. In order to trade it, you have to create an account on ShapeShift (https://shapeshift.io/#/coins) and send your Ether from MyEtherWallet to the address generated by them. You can also do it on Changelly (https://changelly.com) (registration needed as well). TryNinja has already explained you why there is nothing to worry about. Using "Exchange" feature is basically the same as what I described above - Trezor sends whatever you exchange to ShapeShift's address.
