Title: Looking for investors or collaborators
Post by: TheZucc on November 05, 2018, 04:28:56 PM
Hi,
For the past year I have been working on a tech/crypto-oriented social platform. I want to create a clean environment where people can share, learn and meet people.
The main difference about this platform is that it's going to be exclusive/invite-only and the users will be encouraged to contribute with quality content.
What I have noticed over the years is that every great platform has slowly turned to shit because dumb people are easy money. I've also noticed that platforms that are usually more restrictive/exclusive and have an actual  'moral code' and not just money are the ones that last the long run.
The main reason I spent a lot of time working on this was because I failed to find an internet platform that I could personally be excited about and want to be part of.
Compare this forum for example now and 8-10 years ago - there still is quality content and great users BUT nowadays 90% of them are either 70 IQ airdrop bots or they want to sell you on their next bitcoin ICO.

What I want is really hard to achieve but it can also be really rewarding.
If you're interested in investing or collaborating or just want to hear more please DM me.

//edit
I can't message people because I'm new.
Here's a link to the platform and what I have so far: https://glowbe.org
Everything is still raw and alpha, so keep that in mind.

Thanks.

Hey, also looking for collaboration https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5050382.msg47611683#msg47611683

I've got a very similar idea since a while, let's connect! PM me with more info please.

8-10 year ago i was quite successful in finding a trustable deals and partners online, while nowadays it seems super hard, at least at the most of the platforms. Also, agree that closed / invite-only environment usually have a much better "moral code".

Remembered this similar strategy with a blogging/social networking site named Steemit, during their early days access to creating content to the website is limited to who only is invited to sign up but even that time you will see shitloads of poor quality content, from photo grabbing to plagiarism you will see it even if the content creators are only limited to only who is invited. My point is even if you screen them at first you cannot control the quality of what they are posting if you leave them unmoderated or without screening what they are posting first. These trash creators won't stop coming if there is money to be earned with the project you are creating.

My emphasis is not on the content, but on the users.
I know steemit, I'm not going in that direction.
It's hard to be specific because I'm still working on things and constantly testing ideas but picture this:
I want to create a platform where you can build your social profile and your online reputation and use it to make your way up the top and connect to other people that share your interest
Imagine how this forum could look like if there wouldn't be scammers, airdroppers and retarded topics with dumb questions. I want to get that small minority of people who could offer something to the world in a sense and put them in the same place.
Of course there will still be shitty memes, sociopaths and assholes but the goal is to discourage them and encourage people that have something to say -> good content.
And from a technical standpoint I guess it will look more like reddit mashed with facebook than with steemit and medium.

But judging on how you created the OP you are seriously looking at filtering the users (Invite only) in order to have good quality content. Just like what I said above even if you screened them at first leaving them unmoderated will make their post quality to go down. Your target group is also hard to find and maintain as you are looking for a dedicated and motivated person to keep posting in your website.

And from a technical standpoint I guess it will look more like reddit mashed with facebook than with steemit and medium.
But Steemit is already like Reddit where they have upvotes (which you earn money) and downvotes as well, their subreddits are called tags which is a little bit less organized compared to Reddit.

Switch your attention from content to users. If there are not low quality users there is no low quality content.
If you grow a small base of hq people and encourage them to invite hq people, there will be no low quality people.
As long as there's more good people than bad people, the lq people will be pressured to behave. But at the end of the day there are no good people and bad people, there's people that understand our goal and respect the rules and the one's that don't and will slowly get banned or have to adapt.
The more people understand the goal - the easier to maintain the quality on the platform. Best case scenario you get a self-moderated environment where users vote out bad users so there's no need for staff moderation.
Again, content is not my focus, but the users.

Saying steemit is like reddit because it has upvotes is just like saying youtube is like some porn site because they both have videos. Facebook, twitter, instagram, pretty much all big social media platforms do the same exact thing with minor tweaks and redesigns and yet they still get their share of the market. BUT Facebook is not like twitter just like steemit is not like reddit and just like what I'm trying to do is not like what there already is I guess.

So, it would be more a micro-blogging platform than a blogging platform, right? Because I find hard to go with the micro-blogging route when you have characters limit (it's just an exemple but there are surely some restrictions). I mean a micro-blogging platform it's good for short discussions mainly.
The audience matters much than the content, how are you going to "monitor" the users. The existing ones and the new ones. Letting other users to "vote" for an exclusion? The system could end up with interests conflict.

(I want to be the first to post: "who is Satoshi")  ;D

if my thinking is similar -> the technical implementation of the platform is not that important as the audience. there are lots of different ways to implement this from tech point of view. rating system isn't that important, however surely it can exist.

Thanks.

I don't understand why you are limiting the topic of your platform to the cryptocurrencies , while you have a great general-purpose name such as Glowbe.
You should make a better use of it.

Make a user-driven scientific community, that covers many tech topics, not just cryptos.
AI, robotics, quantum computing, hardware architecture, or even mechanics, biology, chemistry, electronics, whatever

It's easier to start by targeting a smaller group and extend from there than starting a general platform.
To answer your question - I'm open to make it more broad and that's the end goal.

To be honest with you wont get any respond or see a serious investors/collaborators because you're a newbie account holder which some people called a throw away account. With that been said this forum believe in transparency and for you to get better respond you need to post in details what you're planning to on this thread or else you'll bump this thread for years with no  result.

I'm looking to hear more about this project because I also have the feeling that this forum is no longer the edged sword it was and I don't see any new project coming to change this.

The world is cryptomed differently than you know it!
Profit from Cryptomeni & Mining & Cryptonit projects
The world of crypt is for many interwoven with a number of questions and ambiguities. In Cryptonite, we can easily do this by purchasing currencies, preserving them and having a wide range of opportunities to evaluate your assets without the need for your activity.

It's just as easy as buying a roll in a supermarket. Only our rolls will bring you long-term profits and fun. Bitcoin now knows everyone and everyone believes that he gets rich as dozens of others. We have other ways.

I've started a variety of projects in the past, and recently I have been experimenting with a few crypto related ones. What I have found is that you don't really need any initial investment, and that growth is based on the efforts of the founders, and the early members and associates that they are able to attract.

What are you considering doing with any of the funds invested in your project(s).

What's your last arguably 'successful' project you've started with $0?
What's the point of investing in a startup if people can build successful stuff without the need of investments?
