Title: Why do some threads have the (All) option but not others?
Post by: Flagship11 on November 06, 2018, 01:30:51 AM
It gets annoying to go through pages of pages- how about the ALL function for all threads?
Thank you

Some threads are more than one page, and some aren’t. If a thread has more than 20 posts, it will have more than one page, and thus an option to view all as well as a specific page. When threads reach a certain length, the all feature is no longer available as it would be a burden on both the reader and website. You may even notice an additional cloud flare step when clicking all, so it isn’t used intentionally or otherwise to ddos the forum.

You wouldn't want the ALL option for a thread that's just in its first page, would you?
Considering the fact you can see all the replies on the single page..

When the replies cross the first page, then you have the ALL option
I do not think any changes ought to be made as regards that

IMO seniors here need not touch old posts which are having pages after pages.  I suppose that seniors already read it.  Most of the times people are commenting in those old threads just to reach the targeted number of posts for signature campaigns ; which is often termed as shit posting (the word I used first time because I do not like this word).

please correct if I am wrong.

I think its more convenient to use paged sorting instead of using a 'ALL' option and just scrolling through a large bump of posts. It is more annoying to scroll through a long list of posts and it also makes the reader feel uncomfortable in sorting out the specific posts. Dividing them in a set of 20 posts makes it better to handle.

You're totally wrong,a shitposter is a shitposter irrespective of the users rank or number of racked up merits(some haven't earned any, simply air dropped)

If you go through all this posts that has pages upon pages, you will definitely see all ranks duely represented in there..
Signature campaigns is not only done by Jr members,we have gotta low percentage of legendaries in signature campaigns,no doubt
Both full members and below are also guilty for pages upon pages in the spam megathreads

When the topic is of less than or equal to 25  page, you get option of "All"  (off course , you do not need All for one page topic).

Once the topic cross the 25th page, The option of "All" is not available.

Getting "All" for reading 25*20= 500 post is more than enough.
I think , if you try to put too much in "All", then it will take too much time to load and may impact your site experience.
