Title: Trading view alerts: Email-to-SMS {How does this work?}
Post by: thegoatiest on November 08, 2018, 12:51:41 PM
Hello,
I've been trying to figure out the available alert options on tradingview.
There are several options;
But the one I'm most interested in is the Email-to-SMS. I tried to set it up; and all it asked me for was my email address. I was expecting it to ask for my phone number as tradingview already have my email.
So now I've setup up the email-to-sms how will they SMS me {?via email?} without having my phone number.?
thanks,
TG

Thought I'd bump this.
Would love to know how to set this up. Less time at the computer the better.  ;)

Emails to SMS work differently depending on your carrier
Here is a list of some of the gateway servers of different carriers SMS Email Gateways (http://smsemailgateway.com)

You have to set up an account which will then be linked to your phone number
The area where hashes are is where your number is supposed to be (this is what we call an SMS Email) so each carrier has a different format. For example AT&T, just type in your ten digit phone number followed by @txt.att.net. It should look like 1234567890@txt.att.net.

Its this SMS Email they will use to foward you the alerts or texts...When an email is forwarded, it's converted as an SMS in ur phone.

in my opinion it's in a different environment. tradingview only provides chart info and movements, and as far as I know there are no API features that might be used to synchronize with other services. why use SMS alerts?
I am sure that even though it will be realized later, maybe the alert time and the received SMS time can be very different
