Title: Abolish Timezones - 24H view perhaps? Post by: bluefirecorp_ on November 10, 2018, 12:37:40 AM We live in an information era. It doesn't really matter what local time is. Why wake up at 8 AM with the sun down when you can wake up at 1642 with the sun just over the horizon.
It's not like life would change much, you'd still do your morning routine and get to your destination before the time. It's just not everyone wakes up at 1642, and that's fine. Anyway, enough ranting; huge advantages to getting rid of timezone; * International Date Line disappears instantly. * No "Friday" here, "Saturday" there bullshit. * One big ass celebration for new years around the world all at once! Anyway, I like AM / PM tbh, but 24 hour clocks make way more sense. 2354 isn't more than 11:54PM... it's less actually. === Where do you stand on this issue? That would mean in Japan, the new day would began in the morning. (about 9:00 am currently.) In New York, the new day would begin early in the evening. (7:00 pm standard time currently.) In Hawaii, the new day would begin in the early afternoon. (2:00 pm standard time currently.) Also, if the world decides to pick UTC, wouldn't that be Eurocentrist? :D

Unix time ticks along perfectly fine, marking the passage of time. What time do you suggest we are going to use as this new "time?" UTC?
