Title: Risers Recommendations
Post by: faourmining on November 12, 2018, 01:02:44 AM
Hey, what's up everyone, before I stopped my mining stations I used to have a problem with not all my GPUs working, and I'm pretty sure its the risers that I purchased, I wanted to know if you guys have any recommendations on to which risers I should get.

My Specs:
GTX 1070 (12)

Asrock 110 Pro BTC+

16gb ram

2 1300W PSU

Version 6S chips never had a problem on my side.
All working without any problem last 2 years.
I see 8S versions on Ali but never tested.

Risers are consumables. I always bought them with reserve. It's never known the quality of risers in new parcel even from trusted seller.
But if the riser worked well during one month it's much probable that it will work for years

i use GTX 1070 ti MSI gaming GPUs and they work with these risers i ordered:

a previous set of risers i bought (in a 6pack) only 4 worked and the other 2 were faulty, it wasnt this brand though!
they all seemed to work for me

If you can. In my opinion just get some Riser less motherboards.

These days due to the slow demand, you can find them at decent prices. But they will keep your rig looking much cleaner because they take up less room.

And if you properly undervolt and use adequate cooling, you won't have issues with the space. Generally depending on what manufacteurer you buy there is decent space between the GPUs.

Get always the version with most connectors on it. You will have multiple options to play with. Usually though the risers are most reliable when they are powered by the six pin connector. I prefer molex 4 pin as I am having the best results with them but almost all people I know only praise the 6 pin connector.

Any riser above 007 version is good enough to buy it.

Use a riser with a 6-pin power connector. They have more powerful connection and a built-in fuse. They have less current due to a higher voltage (12 volts) and improved contact thanks to greater number of pins in the connector.

I chose a USB Riser that has a lot of capacitors so far is a good choice but must remember every USB RISER whatever brand or type, rarely survive for six months

Mine have lasted over 8months with no problems. Version 10 with two led lights and 6pin/molex/sata connections.  Got spares if anyone needs them as ive switched off one of my rigs.

I had the 007 versions, They never failed on me. All other versions have bailed on me in one way or another. They have this only 6pin connection and they work like a charm. I bought em from aliexpress. OP if you are interested, you can check em out here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-aad-in-card-PCIe-1-to-4-PCI-express-16X-slots-Riser-Card-PCI-E/32812873421.html

I bought a bunch of them for my rigs and they worked flawlessly. Ask the seller for 6pin 007 versions and you will be Gucci...

The best risers are those with 6-pin connectors. They have the best connectors, which ensures the greatest reliability of the connection. In addition, you need to pay attention to the quality of USB-cables. They must be thick and shielded with reliable contacts.
