Title: Which forum sections allow ICO advertising?
Post by: therighty on November 12, 2018, 06:51:52 PM
Which forums would be the correct place to advertise your ICO? I’m new here and I’m not really sure if which sections allow it and which sections most people post in.

Try the Altcoin Announcement-Board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0). I am sure, your ICO-announcements fits there. But this board gets spammed a lot, so your topic may go to the second page in a matter of minutes!

I think the appropriate section to advertise your ICO project would be the marketplace (Altcoin) board, its a child board to the Altcoin discussion section
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=161.0

If you really want to advertise your ICO on bitcointalk, I'd suggest that you get the signatures/avatar designed for your ICO and place a "signature campaign" in one of the following sections:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0 (place it here if you're going to pay through altcoins)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=52.0 (place it here if you're willing to pay through bitcoin)

The appropriate boards are:

[1] Altcoins ANN thread,  Announcements (Altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0/).
[2] Bounties thread,  Bounties (Altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0).

This thread can also help you if you're looking for a signature campaign designer. Overview of Bitcointalk Designers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1610428.0).

To be honest, advertising in this forum is not really effective. You might want to post your ANN thread but I doubt it will bring you lots of investors. You should advertise your product to other sites such as ICODrops or Cryptobriefing, which has a lot of exposure and a great in-depth review. They're free but your product must be very good to be listed there, they're not the same like the broken ICOBench or etc.

[1] Altcoins ANN thread,  Announcements (Altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0/).
There's also a child board for this section which is the Tokens (Altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=240.0).

Why not give appropriate info on what you are about post? is that an ANN, a bounty, job related post? But if its on your mind that you want someone to advertise your ICO throughout the forum with each post, it isn't allowed.

What? Do you really believe that reaching ten activity points will make the ICO look legitimate if it's a scam?

There's always the possibility of buying the copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) if OP wants to get an access to some extra features of the forum.

Their account doesn't need to be trusted in the community for them to be reliable, the trust and assurance will always come from the escrows and campaign managers being used by the ICO developers not themselves. Also there are other aspects to consider if an ICO is a scam like the their whitepaper and their team, and judging them solely about their rank in the forum is not one of them. If we go to what you believe in ICO opportunities will always look like a scam as all of their accounts are low ranking members of the community.
