Title: why there is no an app for lighting network ?
Post by: xiahui135 on November 14, 2018, 12:03:13 PM
If someone establish a super node on lighting network, people can connect to the super node to connect each other.

It is just like a crypto PayPal!

With an app and a brand, Lighting network can connect billions of people. Bitcoin network as the central bank layer, and Lighting network as the payment layer like PayPal. This will really change the world if it works.

It's not that stable right now but there are definitely reputable services such as Bitrefill, TorGuard etc. that are accepting Lightning network payments.

You can have an idea about the overall progress here (https://cdecker.github.io/lightning-integration/). We've also got a lot of wallets  (http://lightningnetworkstores.com/wallets) (Eclair and Zap are the best from my personal opinion) but they're not easy to set up, at least not as easy as Electrum for example. The reason behind that is that developers are focusing on having a working product so the user experience is not really much of a priority right now.

I don't think the developers are 100% sure about the security of Lighting network and there are report of money being lost on it and if this become a norm there is no better FUD to kill the project before it even begin. I believe the best technology will surely work and LN is one of the best solution we have now, it just need time to be very sure of what you are getting into, Electrum developer said it sometimes ago that businesses will need to adapt their model to fit LN because it is the future

About the security system of lighting network, not any developer can make sure about in order to develop an app for it. So i don't think that kind of app will be launched in the future.

LN devs are themselves saying there are many issues that cannot be fixed.

If BTC got expensive tx fee, then only large money will be on Lightning network.
Because only large money can afford expensive tx fee to charge Lightning network account. If lightning network want to become popular, then the tx fee of BTC must be low. This results BTC main network must be scalable. But when BTC is scalable, there is not much nessesary to use Lightning network for most of the cases.
