Title: Will you cash out your bitcoins for Black Friday?
Post by: Kprawn on November 14, 2018, 03:00:24 PM
I see a slight drop in the price in the last couple of days and that made me think, why this might happen now.  ??? My best

guess is that a lot of people might be converting bitcoins to fiat to enable them to buy cheap goods at retailers that are not

offering Bitcoin payments. Will you also cash out some bitcoins to shop at Walmart or Amazon or whatever retailer you shop

at, that are giving these massive discounts? This will surely explain the drop in the price, a week before Black Friday

starts.  ???

I see no other major announcement that would explain the recent drop in the price.  >:(

Bitcoin is volatile, and can easily rise and crash without good/bad news. We can think of reasons and speculate on why prices move such directions, but there's really no way to know for sure.

As a Legendary member that has been here since 2014, you should probably know this by now.

Expenses are inevitable and most times imperative and when the need calls you would have to meet up.

That said, lots of factors affect the price movements. And the market has been more or less the same as it has been the majority of this year.
Also I am not aware of any Black Friday offers as yet, the market is maybe not as active as it was at this time last year.

Yea, I have been a member since 2014 and a Bitcoiner way before that, but the price behaviour has changed a lot in the last

couple of months. We have seen a stable price for months now and now suddenly we are seeing slight volatility again. We

also saw volatility linked to "news" that was published in social media, but this time there are not something that was

announced that might cause a dip in the price.  ??? ??? ??? (Apart from the upcoming Bitcoin Trash fork)

$300 isn’t much of a drop these days, it’s just normal price movement. I will start to panic a little if we crash much below $6000 though.

The bitcoin markets have only existed more or less just a decade. And yes, there are some things that might be weird because we haven't seen something similar in the past. But guess what? I'm pretty sure we haven't seen nothing yet. Long term, I'm 100% sure we're bound to see rise and drops in price multiple times as massive compared to what we have seen last December. Buckle up your seatbelts and enjoy the volatility ride. :P

Most users may be driven into panic selling for black Friday shopping, but I do not think it's actually a wise idea..
As every bitcoiner is aware of the market situation, and it's unpredictable state, backing out at this point in time could be unnecessary and could come back to bite

No, I don't think so.
It's not good time to sell bitcoin now, specially if you had to pay more for bitcoin than what is their current value.
Hold is much better strategy than sell with loses.
Black friday s just one day and it will come again.
If you sell your bitcoin it's the end.

I.would rather hold on to my Bitcoin than sell at the current price. Few of my friends are eager to sell at the moment and wouldn't listen to voice of Reasoning. I've left them to their decision afterall the decision is theirs to make

Definitely, i will cash out some of my Bitcoin wallet for Black Friday because of the free giveaway and discounted price be given during Black Friday. Man must meet the needs of the family, however things are likely to be on a higher price during Xmas and New year, so, in line with this, cash out Bitcoin will be inevitable.

There is a possibility that I might do that, not necessarily on a Black Friday but in any day that a particular store offers massive discounts. It is always good to stock up some supplies while price is cheap.  ;D

He did know but what he is trying to do is get opinion and trying to rationalise by giving reasons as to why a new downward trend is being witnessed at this time which coincide with black Friday sickness.

I won't want to believe that someone who probably bought at an higher price would now sell because of Amazon price slash when you know that when the market recovers even if the price of that particular good should double, you can afford it conveniently. The  like reason is because of the volatility happening in the market and every explanation would only work as a result of timing alignment.

I will start to panic a little if we crash much below $6000 though.

Are you panicking now? ;D

Probably time to log-off for today. Every board is being spammed with countless new topics about bitcoin crashing, panic selling, crypto is dead, etc. It gets pretty boring after a while. If you honestly believe crypto is dead, then just sell everything and leave the forum. You don't need to spam the place on your way out.

I'll continue to do what I've done all year - largely ignore the price, and continue to use bitcoin as a currency as and when I can.

This drop can't be explained by black friday. I understand that everybody is trying to find an explanation for this sudden drop. ıt seems that price behaviour of bitcoin has changed a lot. We have seen a stable price for months and  suddenly slight drop occured while people wait for a bull market. People must evaluate this new period seriously and necessary measures must be taken.

I am on the track now where i will sell my BTC at 15,000 USD and buy back at 12K.
then sell again at 22K usd, this is my track which i know will be good iun the future!

Black Friday is a big deal and im sure a lot of people are going to use bitcoin in
one way or the other to take advantage of available deals. It may be a factor
in the current market movement along with other factors i dont think its tho
sole reason.

Will you also cash out some bitcoins to shop at Walmart or Amazon or whatever retailer you shop at, that are giving these massive discounts?

If there's a stuff that's been sitting on my wishlist going on a big discount, then I'll probably do it. Otherwise, I won't. It's not really a good habit to buy anything just because that thing is on a discount. Moreover, in this case, it involves spending out my Bitcoin. Even with fiat, I will always think twice to spend my money on an 80%-90% discounted stuff.

Even if someone did as you wrote, it is still unlikely to affect the price of bitcoin. To manipulate the price of such a coin requires more serious news.

For me that is not a reason why it would affect the market? The price of every coin is not depending on every shopping discount, it was depending on how many people sell or buy a coin if they panic the price will continue to drop down because many people would sell their coin and it was obvious that they can't handle any pressure it might be.

Well what if people want to give out bitcoins for christmas? The holiday season may actually cause the demand for bitcoin to increase.  You don't want to be left behind on the boat when the prices are rising.  The historic charts show that bitcoin always rises a lot towards the end of the year.

I'm sure people here must have savings in the bank that they can spend on blackfriday

When I use bitcoins as a payment option, I usually just buy the amount of coins I need from the money that I would have used via Fiat and I pay with Bitcoin. I do not lose any coins in the process, because I do not use coins from my hoard.

Sometimes I replace the coins after I purchased something with bitcoins from my hoard and this price drop is ideal for that, because I am buying coins at a much lower price. <extra discount>  ;D

I will not cash out, but I will use some bitcoins, because it is safe to use for eCommerce.  ;D

that doesn't make any sense!
if you want to purchase something then do it with bitcoin, there is no reason to convert bitcoin back to fiat then using that fiat to buy stuff. and if you want to purchase with fiat then i am sure that everyone owns fiat, it is not like people invest every single dime they have in bitcoin to have to sell it to get some fiat back!!!
not to mention that with the current bitcoin discount that is going on you should be buying bitcoin instead of selling it :D

To be honest, I am a believer in the sustainable crypto ecosystem so if I am purchasing something and if I see Bitcoin as a payment option then it would be my first preference of payment method. However, cashing out the funds and spending it in fiat or any other form of currency is not romantic as a crypto lover. I would spend my crypto funds directly instead of cashing out.

To exchange Bitcoin just for shoping with diacount maybe is not the most clever idea but I'm sure there will be some people who will do it.
On the other hand I always say that true value of Bitcoin is possibility to use in real life for real stuff so why not to use that.

Holders of Bitcoin have several options to use their assets. It is very possible that some have changed theirs to shop, but Black Friday is becoming more frequent these days. It is most probably FUD that could result in withdrawals.

I don't think the black friday would effect the bitcoin price in negative ways. The price has dropped already and the market showed its strenght and it seems that the price got stabilised for now. I am not sure that howmany crypto users would exchange their coins for shopping.. I believe that this is common in USA not for the other countries in the world. So the price wouldn't drop anymore i guess..

Well, it is nothing in my part because even there is a black friday, I would not cash out my bitcoin. I will support this coin forever specially that it gave me money during the time I need. Bitcoin will never gone because there are many people that are ready to support with it.

Perfectly understandable, but know that you don't have to use your own coins for that. In some cases there are deals that only apply to Bitcoin, which actually are pretty decent mostly, so what you do is buy Bitcoin with fiat (probably better to do in advance? not sure how easy it is for you to buy Bitcoin), then buy whatever you need/want with these Bitcoins. I already bought the coins I plan to spend. Burn fiat. Support Bitcoin.

Yes, there might be some volatility in the runup to black friday, but we're likely in a tight range similar to $6000-$6500 that we've been in all year.

I bought ALOT of Bitcoin at about $250 each several years ago and then got a bunch of free BitCoin Cash.  The current value is still a massive increase over what I paid for it.

The answer is to HODL.  HODL.  HODL.  Go ahead and panic sell if you want but this is not the way to go if you want to see your life stance changed if/when Bitcoin again shoots high.

I usualy use Bitcoins in everyday life to make a purchase. But I don't exchange it for fiat, I have Bitcoin debit card and that makes shoping much more easier.
While these debit cards are quite handy because of their much wider level of adoption, and you don't have to cash out coins to fiat yourself, you aren't actually spending your Bitcoins, but still fiat, which is important to know.

In the background the debit card provider converts your coins to fiat, then settles the payment in fiat. The only thing you see happen is that they deduct Bitcoin from your balance every time you conduct a payment.

As far as OP goes, it makes no sense to cash out anything at this stage. I mean, if you really need the funds, then do it, but the real black friday deal is the current Bitcoin price, so use fiat to buy Bitcoin instead of stuff you don't need.

Yes we needbti hold bitcoin today because of its price i also did not cash out bitcoin for bleach Friday. Our patience today is needed because we need to wait for the bull run or the rising of its price. Bitcoin will soon rise and it can be more profitable if we do hold it on this dip because if we are going to cash it out we cannot benefit on it when time comes that the price will rise.

I see a slight drop in the price in the last couple of days and that made me think, why this might happen now.  ??? My best

guess is that a lot of people might be converting bitcoins to fiat to enable them to buy cheap goods at retailers that are not

I don't think the drop in bitcoin has anything to do with black Friday. The vast majority of stores that support this global action do not accept bitcoin as payment, and therefore the flow of bitcoin as a means of payment remains at the same level as it was. The fall is due to completely different reasons.

Not at all because the price of bitcoin has gone down. I would rather purchase items with any available fiat currency that i may have in my possession and wait for the price of bitcoin to increase to about $7k US. I don't see the reason why people would want to cash their bitcoins into fiat currency to make transactions at this current price of bitcoin.

No need to scary for this scenario last couple of day and until now bitcoin are in the lower prices people still hoping and waiting for the stabilization.

I'm not planning to spend my coins at such low price. I have my limits. I used to be undecided when we were at 6k USD, but now... Now we're at the lowest point for over a year. We went back to prices from early November 2017, but now we're closer to the end of the month than to the beginning and we haven't jumped back up. Selling and losing opportunity for a rocket to the moon in December would make me sad.
Speaking of Black Friday discounts, Bitcoin is at -80% at the moment. That's what I call a great buy!

Actually we dont need to spend money on black friday, that is not mandatory and we must always budget our money or manage it well, because if we spend more to nonsense things and when emergency comes. It will be a big problem. Instead why not spend only few depending on what is you really needed in your life and save the other money.

No, I won't, and I don't believe in this theory that Bitcoin slightly falls on holidays because people cash out to buy stuff - it's probably more of a coincidence and the usual attempt to find explanation for Bitcoin price changes. The reason why I think it's wrong is because few people hold 100% of their saving in crypto, so there's actually no need for them to cash out their coins, because they have enough fiat. And the price is influenced by traders rather than users, so again, I doubt that traders need to cash out to buy presents. Perhaps traders are selling because they won't be trading on holidays so they don't want to risk losing money if a price drop happens during that time.

Is Black Friday the explanation behind the mistery? Well, I'm not sure about it, anyway I'm not going to cash out my money because of this particular event. And I believe if people want to spend some extra cash with Black Friday they won't sacrifice a lot of money from their BTC investment to do this... That would be insane.

i will not cash my bitcoin
but when black Friday prices will definitely fall
so everyone doesn't need to panic
people will sell their bitcoin to buy cheap goods when black friday

First of all, I will tell you that Black Friday is the greatest fraud in the world. It only seems that you win something and buy the cheapest stuff. In reality, you leave all the money in the stores and buy unnecessary things.

Basically, I do not think that Black Friday is the reason for the strong losses in the crypt world. Some people will also sell BTC to make so-called bargains, but it does not have the potential for this sharp decline.
Why in the last 2 days this cash out is done has other reasons.

Mindset of someone that has a lot of belief to the market.

I see that it went low quickly to $4,277 and it can go lower than that. Patience people, patience. I'm not going to sell no matter what.

We will never get an announcement that the market will dump but there's someone that hinted it before the fork.

I would rather to hold it than to sell it out or convert into fiat. I think the biggest explanation about dropping price of bitcoin is the hard fork of BCH and I think it is the reason. I think the people who already convert their bitcoin now will really have big mistake in the future.

selling now will only give regret when the market rises again.
so it's better to wait for the market to rise first rather than selling it at a loss. I invest not for defeat but for profit.

That should be the case, the panic sellers and those who are worried about the decline in bitcoin prices are someone who is new to cryptocurrency. They make other people aware of staying patient and staying on hold when prices decline even though their hearts have deep concerns about the ongoing price decline. Because if they understand about bitcoin or cryptocurrency in a comprehensive manner then the price reduction is not an event to be lamented, but most of them will be grateful for being able to buy bitcoin at a low price.

Some of us may cash it out but some may not due to they cannot afford to look how much it cost today to convert their bitcoin into fiat money. I would rather hodl than convert it into cash. It is not the right time to convert our bitcoin instead we should have to hold rather than cashing it out.

I don't really celebrate christmas so I won't be participating in any of these sales.  Christmas has become all about presents and material goods.  It really lost all of it's meaning because of corporate brainwashing.

Bitcoin but I also believe in its role as a currency or payment system. I most
certainly did not "Cash Out" before Black Friday.

i think that the xpenses are inevitable and most times imperative and when the need calls you would have to meet up. It means that lots of factors affect the price movements. And the market has been more or less the same as it has been the majority of this year. Also I am not aware of any Black Friday offers as yet, the market is maybe not as active as it was at this time last year.

I do not think that the fall of bitcoin is associated with this event. Why someone to sell it now to buy some goods. It's illogical. The price of bitcoin fell for another reason.

It is very stupid to spend your bitcoins to buy various goods at a discount. There's Fiat money for that. Now bitcoin should be kept, it is necessary to invest in it. It is not necessary to spend crypto without special need.

black friday does not affect the price of bitcoin to such an extent, if indeed people pursue black friday by exchanging crypto to fiat and shopping, then there should be more people who do not participate in the black friday moment to buy BTC at a cheaper price , that means the price balance will remain, even though there is black Friday this week

for sure the price drops not because of black Friday

The reason why bitcoin has gone through this circumstances is dependent on how people remain open to all possible aspect that price will soar or not. Don't be too excited for whatever signs it might show to us, only focus on how to save your coins needed to grow for longer terms.

I don't see the reason why i should out some bitcoins just to purchase items on Black Friday. Anyway how much discount are they offering that is so enticing that you think most people are cashing out to purchase items. the recent drop in price is as a result of the FUD that is being spread out there that bitcoin is going to collapse. This has generated a whole lot of panic and most investors are scared hence they are selling cheap to cut down their losses in case it collapses but bitcoin will not collapse.

how can we earn a profit if the value's of all the cryptos are always down ?  that simply means that cashing out is a verry bad idea even if its not a black friday or whatever holiday it is  .

if you trully like the concept of this black friday but you dont like to sell your btc for fiats  , then why cant you just buy items directly online using your btc's ?  in that way , you can save some even better discounts .

Never do anything stupid and keep the investment that we have in the crypto world.

I 'm pretty sure people who bought BTC at a rate of above $12,000 will also agree with you on this ? I mean, why would Someone cash out of an investment that would result in relatively high amount of loss just to buy some items of 10-50% discount, and moreover, considering the discount wouldn't even amount to 20% of investment loss.

It is more comfortable to buy more at this rate and wait for the comeback.
BTC is kindly dead for now as the market fall a lot and huge.
if you will buy now you can earn more in the near future!

No need to withdraw Bitcoin to make Black Friday purchases, because the condition of the bitcoin price is not normal. In my opinion, in one or two months the price of bitcoin rises, maybe it doesn't rise dramatically. Signal increase will increase the passion of bitcoin trading, therefore hold bitcoin to wait for the increase.

Bitcoin is volatile, and can easily rise and crash without good/bad news. We can think of reasons and speculate on why prices move such directions, but there's really no way to know for sure.

As a Legendary member that has been here since 2014, you should probably know this by now.
Not to mention that simply buying things with bitcoin is usually cheaper than buying them with USD, and plenty of bitcoin-accepted sites had amazing deals.
I personally bought a hardware wallet at a huge discount. And paid in BTC.
Very happy with the purchase.
