Title: Different genres of crypto games Post by: btc_love on November 15, 2018, 11:50:23 AM - Hot Potato games
If you can even call them games. The point of these early crypto games – most of them gone by now – was simply for a player to purchase a token, hoping that another person would buy it off their hands, always for a higher price. - Collectibles, with and without gameplay Made most popular by CryptoKitties, and succeeded by a plethora of look-alikes that ended up making a reputation of their own(BlockchainCuties, Etheremon, Axie Infinity, are all examples of successful games), collectibles were a first step away from hot potato games and in the direction of more complex, more fun games. - RPG, MMORPG, Strategy, Idle and others Similar to the games above, but with even more complex gameplay, games like Ember Sword, Crypto Wars, and Ethercraft have never made it as big as games that push the collectible aspect harder. - Gambling Gambling games are honest, in the sense that they’re not pretending to be anything more than what all crypto games started out being: basically just gambling with cryptocurrencies. - Off-chain crypto games Recently, many promising games are coming out that have actually decided to keep the entirety of their code centralized, using the blockchain only to run a tokenized game economy on it. More information about blockchain games you can read in this article https://gameunculus.io/blog/119 Hope it was useful. You've just given a very basic explanation of what sorts of cryptocurrency-related games there are.
You might have been better off just sharing an excerpt from the article, instead of this summary. (I mean a better excerpt, this was the most uninteresting part of the article) Now the article itself is okay, not a bad read, but it does kinda present some information that is widely available. Not really anything new. Also, are all the collectible games you've listed there built on Ethereum? I'd like to see some games added that use different platforms. I mean there's also Steem Monsters & Chibera, which all run on Steem. I suppose I don’t see a big difference in the security of games not on the blockchain. You can simply play endless games without earning anything, while in crypto games you can enjoy the game and at the same time earn cryptocurrency. And even if you stop playing the game, you will also be in the plus.. After all, you can always sell what you once bought. This is a very good and competent approach. And it is this approach to playing on the blockchain can be attractive.
