I do not think there is any visible positive effect in the big alts price yet, look at eth it has suffered the same path down just like btc  so at the moment we see only one trend in the market and that is down.

It depends on the potential of the coin that you hold. Because I can see to it that when bitcoin price reduces, then so as the coins price go low on its rate. Trust me this is not exactly the case. The drop in the price of Bitcoin greatly affected altcoins. So you find a situation where alts that were bought at certain prices and because there was a drop in the price of BTC, the dollar doesn't reflect the amount it was bought

I don't think that at this point a reversal would be withing months. Crypto would have to be stable for months in my opinion for any meaningful upswing in prices. For now, I just think that support is lost and it'll take a decent amount of time until the market's sentiment is fixed. Not at all, it was a domino effect and it is always will whenever there's a bitcoin crash. Some say that in time other coins will be independent to btc but in my own opinion it will not happen. It is the foundation of crypto and supports all of it.

I don't think we can get rid of Bitcoin influence of Altcoins because come to think of it, altcoins has been with us for as long as Bitcoin is, and yet when bitcoin goes down, so as the majority of altcoins and shitcoins.

So the correlation will still be there no matter how you spin it. Remember this shit started with Bitcoin Cash hash war and yet it spills over to almost the majority of the coins including Bitcoin. And just look at how the market is today, its all green meaning when people buy bitcoin back, all other coins are enjoying such support as well. So its really hard for altcoins not to be affected by Bitcoin price movement or for Altcoin to move away from Bitcoin price influence.

No it is not, because look at the market dominance, its more than 50 percent. It means, if BTC is falling, every single altcoin is following and crashes even harder. When the market is going to recover and the dominance of BTC won't be so big, we will see the raise of alts.

I agree with this statement, other altcoin can use this opportunity to win the leading position of bitcoin. Ripple (xrp) is a typical example, it is rising up so many people predict it may be the first head of the BTC.

That's their opinion. Everybody has its own opinion. In my opinion, it is a different case because bitcoin is king of altcoins so altcoins move is dependent on the price of bitcoin. This is what I observed. In case that one day bitcoin find its value left behind and altcoin's price shoot up without the influence of bitcoin's price then, maybe there is a little break away of the altcoins that may replace its dominance in the market. However, it will be short live I guess.

Yes, there are some Altcoin who experienced a pretty good price increase when the BItcoin price fell, namely Coin XRP which increased quite well, because it received full support from government institutions, so when the price of Bitcoin fell, XRP coins went to the moon.

Rejoicing over the fall of bitcoin because the price fall have little or no impact on the price of certain altcoin to me is just hypocritical because eventually it will touch every section of the market. What we don't know is that, the hit that bitcoin is taking is for the entire crypto industry and if it fails, the whole industry might go down with it which is why its of essence to work together for its survival and after which everyone can then focus on its own preferred altcoin.

That is absolutely true, not all ICOs are scam but the thing is, the developer of some projects tend to abandoned their project in this bearish time thus leaving their investors in pain of losing money. Volatility is an opportunity but we should be careful not to fall into a trap just like some of those shitcoins that initially have high value but at the end it almost drop to zero.

OP's point maybe is that we can buy cheaper alts, but if yo have already that altcoins, you become a bagholder if you did not cut loss when crash happens. It takes time for bitcoin to recover.

The crypto market is still  small in volume and altcoins are very dependent of BTC, the market leader which is dominating the market with over than 50% market share.
For altcoins the good thing is when BTC is increasing like it did last year and then the whole market was booming.

It is a good news to altcoins when you are still making investments. But really bad to those investors that are buying in the highest price and now holding and enduring risk in the altcoins lowest price. Because when bitcoin crashes, they also brought the altcoins on the crash.

We need to really look at the big picture because the real time price action is ony a noise. I see a lot of people on social media got affected on what the price of the bitcoin is, if it is in green they are happy and they thought the bulls are going to take over soon. And when they see the price of bitcoin turns red they get sad. They get into this emotional roller coaster because of their emotions and really not knowing what to do. We need to plan one step ahead of the market so when the time comes, we know what we will do.

In order for such a decrease in the Bitcoin price to positively affect the remaining cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin needs to lose its high level of capitalization. Don't think that altcoins will get rid of BTC dependance. When the bull market comes back and Bitcoin begins to grow everybody will be buying BTC first and after that - some main altcoins. One of the main reasons here is trading pairs - not many altcoins are being traded to USD. They are all traded to BTC.

It's safe to say that the altcoins are still bleeding just as hard as they have been, when BTC goes down 7-8%, the altcoins go down 15%. BTC doesn't rally as hard as the altcoins, but you have to keep in mind that it also doesn't fall as hard as them.. Hindsight is 20/20, but the best thing any of us could have done (apart from getting out entirely) was to move into Btc, I think most of us that didn't have lost virtually all our satoshi gains...

Yes there few of altcoins are going to survive without the needs of BTC to going up but a few of these only which have a usuable platform and unique from others functions so an ICO should have a unique function in order to survive alone without depending other cryptocurrency .

I don't think altcoins can survive the market without the influence of bitcoin. I guess bitcoin is influencing each and every market value of each altcoins in different ways, if bitcoin crashes, so as the other altcoins.

From my casual observance the altcoins tend to multiply what is happening with Bitcoin, so if Bitcoin is dropping the alts will fall by a greater percentage. And if Bitcoin is rising the alts will increase in value by a greater percentage, so to make the most of things we need Bitcoin to be rising again now we have loaded up.

BTC crash can't be good for altcoins, because what crypto world needs is much wider adoption than it is now. Bitcoin is the most recognized crypto currency in the market and worldwide, and if something bad happens to it people in general become suspicious about crypto currencies overall. Most people are not that tech-savvy, so they look at the king, and if the king is not feeling good they think that the whole kingdom is sick.

Well, you cannot predict just something about crypto, without really having a strong basis or support. I guess the condition of bitcoin today is neutral, not bad, not good. it is true that btc manipulate other altcoin price but that doesnt mean if btc dumps a lot altcoin will go zero.Market has shifted a lot from previous year,it is not solely dependent on btc ,other major altcoin are gaining high liquidity so major altcoin will not be affected that much even if btc goes dumps.current position of bitcoin can help some altcoin to pump as it is best for them otherwise when btc will start to pump ,altcoin will affected i.e dump for a time then pump as btc gain.

I think what OP means is that if there is a Bitcoin downtrend Altcoins with potential to grow are cheap and we can buy some of them and hoard. We all know that Altcoins are dependent to Bitcoin that is why when there is price drop of Bitcoin we can say that it is good news for Altcoin investors. As a bounty hunter I can always have tokens from the bounty programs and I can say that when there is BTC plummet my holding sucks though I get it all for free just by investing my time and effort so it is still good because I am still hoping for a bounce back.

I agree with that, despite the crypto market crash for almost 2 years now, the technology behind every project keeps on enhancing. Isn't cool? Most of the people in crypto space doesn't care about the technology, they only care about the price and that is not good for the future.

Their investment is of course with the aim of getting profit. If the price on the tokens they invest low, it will certainly make investors lose. We saw the market status now that if bitcoin crash the altcoins follows. I think there is no positive effect to altcoins regarding bitcoin crash. Both coins has a connection to each other base on demand and supply. Bitcoin has a strong power that can pull alsi altcoins value. It is not good for ALtcoins because Bitcoin has direct impact on the price of the ALtcoins, when BTC crashed last year losing like 83% of its value some ALtcoins lost more than 99% of their value, the price crashed of the 2018 is only good for investors entering the space a fresh because instead of buying at premium in January is now buying the dip at $3k.

I don't think altcoins will take their own direction. So long as we lack a fast, cheap, easy method of exchanging between ALTs and fiat, ALTs will remain tied to BTC. Particularly those ALTs with thin markets. Really can't see ALTs decoupling from BTC anytime soon.

Only few of the altcoins are not affect by it because some of them are pumping their coins to get investors to buy their token but its only temporary. Just like what happen now while bitcoin was not in good term of its price value, even Ethereum, Neo, Omisego, Nem, Qtum, ADa and other potential altcoins are also affected by it. Which means once bitcoin spikes its price for sure most of them too will also kick their price value.
