Yesterday, I received a email to inform airdrop on EtherDelta has content like that

Plain common phishing attack, I receive about 3-5 emails at my spam account daily, targetting various accounts like banking, dropbox and amazon.

You did the right thing and check the URL, its the only chance to see if its a scam or not!

Yes be careful there are tons of fake websites that are impersonating exchanges . You should check their SSL and their domain 3x times before logg in

Be also aware of the email sender. It's unusual that a certain project will used a free email domain for this. Received some too in the past with gmails and yahoo as most of the used email domains.

But at some cases, I encountered a well constructed email that leads into phishing. Unfortunately, don't have a copy for it anymore.

People just have to be cautions especially those newbies.

There are more sophisticated ways of scamming, this isn't one of those, but still sadly newcomers fall for these. A while back I saw a Binance lookalike, it was completely the same, only one little letter was different: ṇ. It was Biṇance instead of Binance in the website URL, but this way a completely new site with a phishing attempt.  As mentioned before, ALWAYS check the sender's email address, and NEVER click a link from suspicious origins.

I didnt know EtherDelta uses yahoo  ;D
They didn't even try to make this look good, it is just ridiculous. Just reading the title is enough, dont even get me started on the content, form and everything else.

I wrote a post a while back about a different email scam so you might want to check that out as well because it is also full with mistakes of all kinds.

Yeah that's the first thing that I've noticed. It's not a business domain so its a phishing site.

I think this is the main reason why many are hacked, when they see something the same email they are rushing to "claim" that airdrop as if its free.

Wow, nice info. For now we need to be careful, because if you click this link, maybe you will lose your private key which login in Ether delta. Be careful my friends. Recommend to using ForkDelta

Yeah, he was charged for "running unregistered securities exchange"; But EtherDelta is running in a decentralized smart contract, so AFAIK, they can't really turn it down.

He wasn't arrested, he was fined. There is no court verdict yet as far as I know. He simply settled for now.

But man these airdrop scams are getting out of hand. This is why the ICO market is such a shithole. Thanks for the heads up, OP.

He settled with the court and agreed to pay a US$75,000 fine as well as US$313,000 in disgorgement and interest. But he was not arrested.

I am also receiving the same email. but I did not submit any of my information for airdrop. be careful, before do not click any email about airdrop or free giveaway. first, check any project official announcement about airdrop.
