Hi there. Do you guys know if there has been any movies made about cryptocurrency?

The other day I was thinking that if there was a Hollywood blockbuster or just a really good feature film about crypto/blockchain wouldn't that help with mass adoption? Probably along the same lines as is for example, The Wolf of Wall Street and War Dogs and The Big Short.

What are your ideas on that? Maybe a demand for such a movie would increase the possibilities of actually having one and this could also be a "eduntainment" in sense that people who have never got into the crypto world would at least familiarise themselves with the basics.

I've heard about a few movies about cryptocurrency,but I hardly pay attention to it, it may be cool for some,at least movie lovers could learn through their comfort zone..
About mass adoption,the bitcoin is more that popular all over the world at the moment,i do not think a movie would further help it's course as regards adoption..

Quite an unknown director it seems. Well, not surprised as it's an indie film. Could be great anyway :)

I have not watch or head about any movie about cryptocurrency. But come to think of it is it consequential to discuss about any movie on cryptocurrency,
. well the can be documentaries, video lectures but movies would not be my thing of interest

It just takes to start a thread when you like to know some informations here. This forums has lot of resource persone to ask and they just even offered it for you for free just by starting a thread and ask. This is the best forum for cryptocurrency discussions so far.

It's not a movie, but I always remember the episode of The Good Wife. I think it was the first time someone talked for a long time on a TV show about cryptocurrencies.

Hoping that this movie won't be a flop or somehow. Mostly movies related to money and wealth is made interesting only if their is a crime involve to appeal the masses. But if they focused on the asset itself it has the chance to bore a lot of people like what the Big Short did, they failed to capture the audiences attention as a lot of people are not getting what is happening. As for the OP if you are hoping for a blockbuster hit it won't be if you looking for something educational as it would only interest a few people, mostly cinema goers are looking for the entertainment and they won't get it if it is centered on learning what crypto is.

I would recommend you the movie called : the hacker . You can find it on youtube for free but it has not subtitles .

How would the film about cryptocurrency help in savaging the situation cryptocurrency is currently. Although watching movies about cryptocurrency would be nice but it's not much of a topic of interest

I've seen movies about selling, buying, and stealing Bitcoin, the title was "Bitcoin Heist" , that movies is from Vietnam.

This is actually quite brilliant information! All the other things listed here seem to be documentaries, but documentaries isn't really a genre that a lot of people enjoy so a fiction version could be quite something.  ;) Keeping my eye on it and hopefully it will be a success.

in the movie "Superfly", we had a scene where one of the members of the guangue uses criptomoedas, I found it very cool.

There was this movie about a guy stealing a laptop and then a hacker tell him that he had some bitcoins on that laptop and starts a killing spree on the guy and his friends. I think it was the Dark Web.

I've seen that, it's like a self-made movie and its called something like that Deep Web or Dark Web, but they did suck on the crypto currency part so ahahahah

I have seen some short clips and documentary about cryptocurrency but never have I seen any film related to cryptocurrency..
I would prefer books and educational videos

I don't believe anyone has mentioned the show Start Up, even though its not a movie, it's hands down my favorite crypto related show, I have yet to find anything better.

I would watch a movie about cryptocurrency. But I hope the movie can also be educational in the way that it can clear up all the misconceptions about the technology and the industry it created. I hate it when people comment about crypto and bitcoin as if they know anything about it.

Yesssss. Because knowing the Hollywood, they would probably just make a movie about the "scary" dark web and supernatural stuff online. I want something more realistic and at the same time, has a themed social issue. Like blackmirror.

I do like black mirror too! Crypto movie shouldn't only be confide in horror/mystery genre of the dark web. I hope if there's a new movie about it, it would be about economy, the industries and market, gambling (https://to.crwd.cr/cm), games, and all other fields that flourished from the success of cryptocurrency. So that, people will now know that crypto isn't what they thought they know. Once, my realtive said that bitcoin is nothing but a big money scheme and I am really offended by it because he is 59 and doesn't even have any social media account nor uses the computer.

I heard about the documentary film Beyond Bitcoin and the crypto-funded comedy KevCoin, I didn't watch them, so I don't have any opinion concerning them
