Aside from discounted rates when purchasing tokens before public launching, what else can a potential investor benefit from investing in an initial coin offering?
What do they do when the coin comes to a crash when it goes public? How do these companies protect the interests of their investors?

if the team and developers are serious they should provide special funds to monitor market prices and are willing to buy back if prices fall very deep, because this will give investors and users confidence.

It is pretty obvious that if you invest in an ICO then you could get a lot of profit from that in the end, but also a devastating loss if it doesn't go well.

Beside from the discounted rates you can take advantages in investing to ICO if the project itself is worth investing for, what i'm saying is that even when the projects token released in exchange and many users sells it for low price many people will going to earn from it if the projects succeeds.

If the project itself is worthy the price of it will continually grows because of the new investors and as an investor in an ICO you get the tokens for a low price, your coins may grow up to 100% or even more.

there are few and it seems that none of the projects give the investors the rights. this is a weird market. You only invest and receive high bonus, then hope to sell and have profit. This is not a market for development. It is just projects that buy and sell tokens for profit.

The advantage is the possibility to earn huge profit if the project would be successful because ico has small value of coin and if it is got listed in multiple exchange the possibility of increasing of value is there but there are many scam ico right now that is why be careful on that.

I have never invested in ICO projects but I find that they do not have incentive policies for investors. The acquisition of tokens occurs thanks to those who want to manipulate the market. Although the project is bad, they still want to buy their tokens and use it to manipulate the market. This is a special thing that you should know.

Maybe the price of the token will go to moon when it goes public so it is better to buy at the presale but it is not happening with any of the ICOs nowadays which shows that most of the ICOs are not worth to invest and crypto market is also bad now so better avoid investing on the ICOs for now other than you know that it will be a coin for future.

Commonly, they can get some huge amount of ROI. Especially if they also get to avail of the promotion but case like this happens only in very rare occasion. The only advantage that is real is what you have mentioned. Any other advantage is based on chance that the project will be a successful one which eventually would compensate the early buyers or believers for their risk. Unfortunately, the possibility of this happening is getting bleak everyday. Removing these two advantages from ICOs, what left are disadvantages that should not be witnessed by any enthusiast. Aside from the chance to get scammed by people who are never interested in creating any solution to those who are not serious about their project should they face some little challenge along the way.

There is no protection really. Not like we know it from stocks where there can be a market maker assigned to keep the price stabilized.

Some coins like the BNB coin or the A2A from 50x Exchange (http://50x.dk) have buyback build into their token program. That is a stabilizing measure but in no means making it a risk-free investment.

The only obvious answer to this if you invested on an ICO then you would be rich in an instant way no more no less. Unless it turns out to be a scam project.

if the product and the team has the true vision that is the benefits that you can get from investing in the ICO, yes the price will drop because of the dump from the bounty hunters but in the long run you can really earn from being an early investor.

If you are interested in particular project, you can help developers to reach at least soft cap to make that idea into reality.

Let's put it this way.. An investor will invest on something.. Therefore it will expect a profit later on.. Business and investments as usual. And pointing on putting money on ICO's, it can also applied.

This is just the reason I saw that I must invest in ICO. If I discount 100% or 50% of the price then I will be profitable once it listed in exchange. However, because of the red market a lot of ICO right today that are dumping when they hit on exchange. Sometimes, they 90% down in their ICO price which the investors disappointed with.

It's crazy to believe that every ico will bring profit, many icos are just schemes for taking bitcoins and ethereums from people. I have some investments in icos, but for me those investments are not for fast money making, I hold them for the future, I belive that idea behind of some them can have real purpose in future, when that comes and if that comes I will have them in my wallet.
My advice for new investors in icos is to look in future before they invest money now, it can be a long run before they become successful but that can be very worthy.

Definitely, investing early gives the benefit of the discounted price but on the other hand, one can get early access to the projects which is still not open to the public. I have seen some projects where early investors have exclusive access to try the product or service of the ICO issuing company. This reduces the ordinary risk of investing in similar rolled out projects due to the cost associated with it. However, it also has a different kind of risk associated with the investment.

The ICO I haves invested in when I started cryptocurrency never actually did me well, so it has actually made me stay clear off it but nonetheless there is always that huge discount involved and also better opportunity to earn huge profit  so am working towards overcoming the fear of what I have lost and key back into ICO as I hva know better now

Mostly they are trying to return all of the funds to investors if the project received some problems at some stage, but mostly if we get to token sale and value of token go down x10-100 times nobody cares about that because token released and all of investors lose their funds and never experienced that some campaigns after they fails at coming to exchange with not good price started to return investments

Strong hands are needed to keep them on a stable price and I dont think there is much investors who does that.

I do not prefer to invest in ICO specially today that the market never recover. Most of ICO are experiencing financial crisis and most of them turned into scam or extending their token sale. A lot of ICO that I participated but all of them are failed. Even it is profitable in investing in ICO, it is too long to be waited.

I think the advantages of investing in ICO is the same as when you’re buying coins in the crypto market. There are a lot of advantages participating to an ICO last year, but not this year. I do not agree with what you write. The last ICO failures were mainly caused by bear market and mistakes of developers. They just fell into the bear market trap. At the time when prices were rising, the prices of tokens after the end of ICO were also increasing. If the project is good and developers are professional, then bounty hunters will not be able to drop the price by 90% or even 50%.
