as we know now Ripple has taken the position of Ethereum (ranked 2 in the coinmarketcap), and will this change everything in the future? My point is that Ripple replaces Ethereum whether there will be major changes in the future, such as whether all ICOs will use Ripple as a payment from their ICO to replace payments using Ethereum and all exchanges will use Ripple (XRP) as a payment to buy or sell altcoins on the exchange.

if I think that can happen and what do you think? please give your opinion.

CZ stated that theres a possibility that there will be an XRP trading pairs in the future. But I doubt it that majority of exchanges are going to follow that idea.

If ICOs are still going to exist, its either bitcoin or eth would still be their most preferred payment for investing to their projects. Who knows in the future what changes we will see?

Surprisingly XRP got the 2nd spot again but in my own perception it will not last for long. Well, chances of getting xrp as a payment method would be possible as of now but yes we will never know what will happen next as this dump is unexpected as well.

nothing will happen and rank 2 does not mean changing everything and all ICO will switch to Ripple. not as easy as you might think and I'm sure no developer is interested in building its ICO on a Ripple platform.

I am doubting that can really happen in the future. Sure XRP can be growing and certainly it has its on right place in the cryptocurrency industry and there can be many financial institutions that can adopt it but I really doubt if it can dislodged Ethereum permanently. Ethereum is destined to bounced back big time soon and it is just waiting for its momentum to happen. Anyway, the most important thing here is that both coins should be doing fine does not matter who is occupying what spot in the coinmarketcap site.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ripple overtakes BTC within the next few years.  Bitcoin is suffering from infighting, forks, ledger filesize issues, etc.  Ripple has no such issues, and continues to achieve increasing levels of enterprise adoption.  They just signed up a network of banks in the AP region this last week, for example.

Taking over eth doesn't even bother me for a seconds, as what eth offer us absolutely different to ripple aim, and have different supply and use case , so I will not be carried away with that mentality of rank in marketcap .

XRP and ETH are two different things. ETH is popular because it is used as a means of making new tokens through their smart contracts, while XRP can be used as an exchanger.
Of course each has a different portion and will be able to be used in the future.

We need a big bullish to make it happen. Remember there was a lot of icos are holding their ethereum on the wallet and then more and more ethereum has already generated by miners. This should be the main concern before we can try to decide what will be happening with it in the future dude.

I personally do not like Ripple but this is crypto, anything could happen. Developers/Founders or Exchange Owners might consider this sooner if they see a continues growth in XRP. Although I ma not sure if the current CMC rank plays a role in making that decision.

Hopefully everything will change just like what happen this falling prices in the market maybe it takes time before the market prices can recover on it but i believe everything will change this coming end of the month the market will show a huge of prices.

It seems that because investors and merchants in the ICO market hold a large amount of ETH, the price of ETH will drop rapidly when it starts selling!

first of all ranking on coinmarketcap.com does not matter at all. only newbies care about it because they don't understand how the market works and have to cling to anything meaningless to justify their actions. and now the market has so few newbies as the dumps have flushed mot of them out.

secondly XRP is also a shitcoin just like ethereum with a huge premine and centralization. they are completely similar when it comes to investment too with the difference that XRP has a much much lower price which makes pumping it a lot easier.

nothing is going to change. they both remain pump and dump shitcoins and will eventually reach bottom and start getting pumped after a while. and then again get dumped. if you want profit then learn how to use the pump and dumps to your own advantage.

in my opinion, the price of the ripple is very stable, that's because the ripple can be in number 2 coinmarketcap right now, many of their investors believe in the ripple

if you look at Ethereum's current state, chances are that in the future Ripple will replace Ehereum. Ripple is also one of the best altcoins because it has a clear concept and large volume. many complain about the current Ethereum system having problems such as long exchanges.

In crypto I know anything can happen,I will not be surprise if xrp is enjoying more attention than ETH in the future but this is a task of swimming an ocean,let wait and see if xrp can cross to the other side.

well, when it comes to payment I will go with either BTC or ETH because these two coins are very most popular in crypto payment. Also these ranking system doesn't mean they are booming. Popularity speaks everywhere like there are lot of applications in Google sites, but the popularity and user friendly always wins the race.

I believe the recent development in cryptocurrency market are temporary situation, the ethereum is still mote popular and decentralized than ripple. Ethereum represent everything cryptocurrency that should be decentralized unlike ripple! I think ethereum will reclaim number two spot on coinmarketcap very soon!

There is a saying that the only thing permanent in life is change, yes ripple have always been fighting with etherium and have so many times displaced etherium to take the second position, however I do not see this to last much as I expect etherium may pump soon to take its former position but generally for smart investors should look away from those coins and their several others that yield huge profit but need deeper research and studies

People seem to forget that XRP is centrally controlled. It is limited to the field of payment. As intelligent contract development is not very realistic. Because it is not dispersed. I think your opinion is optimistic and no evidence about it. Although the market cap of XRP is higher than ETH, I believe it is only temporary because the potential of ETH was always better than XRP, and the price of XRP will never surpass ETH.

In conclusion, I think the future, BTC, and ETH still dominate the cryptocurrency market and all altcoins price will depend on the rate of ETH and BTC.

For me, of course, it’s unexpected that ripple has overtaken ethereum and has been holding on for some time, but this is not an indicator of its success. The ethereum platform, as was in demand for launching projects, will be so.

I think it could happen and ripple can be as a new trend for the ico. And if this happens then, we will see ripple can increase higher and maybe it will break more than $5. Everything can change in the cryptocurrency as we don't know what will happen, so we need to prepare to make a profit from every coin in the market. It is true that Ripple has replaced Ethereum at number 2 coinmarketcap, but that has little effect on the ICO project, because the developers are not interested in developing the project on the Ripple platform. the developers prefer to develop their projects using the Ethereum platform even though the price is currently down.

I don't think it will be possible. Ethereum the easiest way to payment for ICO's. All project (even based EOS, NEO and others) uses Ethereum. I've participated a ICO. It is normally based on EOS. But they create their first token which based on ETH. Then they Swapped to EOS. So XRP has completely different mission on crypto world. It is competitor of Bitcoin not Ethereum.

This really caused a lot of surprises for me. This is a competition between Ripples (XRPs) and ETH . And now ETH is ranked after Ripple (XRP) on coinmarketcap and shows us the future of Ripple (XRP) that can replace the location of ETH. I'm aware it, XRP is becoming strong, it took the second position of Ethereum on CoinMarketCap. Soon we will see many exchanges add XRP trading pairs and many new ICO will accept XRP payment.

I have doubts that Ripple will be able to replace the Ethereum. Yes, maybe now he took the place of Ethereum in the table, but this does not mean that he will be able to replace it and Ethereum will go by the wayside.

I think the first place on Coinmarketcap doesn't mean the cryptocurrency will be used by ICOs cause in this case, all project should be based on BTC. The technical side of the blockchain is what is important, ETH is adapted to such a work.

Icos will not start to use ripple during ico or etc mate. Whales pumping ripple because they want from you to think something like that. Why are you using your hopes about eth or btc.

That's not going to happen, because XRP is not Ethereum. For what is happening now is temporarily only. I know that Ripple so far was just being controlled by the whale investors. For sure when the right time Ethereum will bounce again that's the right time were Ripple will drop its price value.

Ethereum just dump but it does not indicate that it won't recovers and XRP will remain on this position. I do not expect that much on XRP that it will stand long buy I believe that it is good for trading than holding. As XRP beats ethereum does not mean that change everything because ethereum is more usable as it supports the platform mostly.

yes I believe so at this point of time they are some top coins which are very down now hopefully in a couple of weeks the entire scenario will change and we can see the bull run.

ETH will need to have a price of 172USD to qualify for the 2. place on the Coinmarketcap. I can actually see Ripple holding the 2nd place for a longer period of time now. Of course, because we are dealing with cryptos, the situation can change really fast.

I have seen ICOs using Ripple as the payment option, but it still seems that the main token that ICOs use is still ETH. Don't really think that will change unless some new coin will take the place of Ethereum :).

I don't think will stay at 2nd place for long, but yes in future i think is possible other coin stay on 2nd place instead of ETH, but i think ETH will be again on 2nd place after new legit ICO will be launched and ask for ETH to join them, so is just a matter of time until we will see ETH on 2nd place and will stay there for long time.

I think Ripple vryatli will use in this plan, but the fact that Ripple  is becoming a more powerful coin, it is a fact.

The only thing that is changing right now is just the fact that there is another coin that is on second place, besides that there is nothing that is going to happen. I mean it is good for ripple, they are getting even more cred for this so they are the ones that win out the most but it does nothing to affect ethereum or the rest of the market
