Title: Spambie - spamquoting - please bann
Post by: asche on November 24, 2018, 11:39:08 AM
Hello,

I have reported most of his posts.
Maybe someone here can expedite the bann he deserves:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1769523

Some of his posts:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4268635.msg46741315#msg46741315
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5045547.msg48136603#msg48136603
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4369447.msg46738177#msg46738177

Basically he just quotes anns/bounties with 0 extra content.
Seems to be using Bountyhive. Not sure if he is actually getting paid for doing this.

After thanking you about the work you always made to keep the forum clean amap, but i would like to remember you that your topic has no meta content. May be you should move it to reputations board.
The only reason i get for why you choose the meta board is a try to receive merit points which looks beneficial for your profile more than maintaining the btt.
Just move it to the right board before get deleted by mods.

Good point, my mistake.

I'm not convinced you're doing this just to earn merits by posting it in the Meta section, but you'd be better off just using the "report to moderator" button and let them deal with it rather than making a thread about it.  Seems obvious this guy deserves a ban, but let the mods decide on that.

Nice catch, anyway.

I obviously care about merit, and like getting some, which is the point of merit I guess, being a form a gratification (thank you by the way).

The wrong posting was an honest mistake tho ;)
Posting this here doesn't mean I didn't report him (as stated in the OP) - I just experienced much better results doing it this way.

Next time I encounter one I won't and I will see if the bannhammer comes without a thread.

I have reported most of his posts.
Well, then why are you open new thread ?

Maybe someone here can expedite the bann he deserves:

No . He do not deserve ban for post full thread quote. He haven't plagiarized contant. Post will delete if you report properly.

However it's nice to see that you also reporting spammer. I have handle dozen  of similar case. Just report to moderators and write on comment box, "This user post full quote of main thread without his own comment which is consider zero value post". Then obviously moderators will take action. You don't need to open new thread for such as case. Keep finding spammer.

Next time I encounter one I won't and I will see if the bannhammer comes without a thread.

I did same thing previously, I had made few similar thread but lots of people's counter me. To be honest my intention wasn't to gain merit. I just tried to ban obvious spammer. However there is a post for spam booster. I report there lately. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4720640.0

He haven't plagiarized contant.

This reads like
"plagiarism is the sole purpose for bann".

What you are saying is even if this is an automated bot bumping threads by quoting the OP without anything ELSE. The account deserves to keep access to the forum?

All I want to say is THANK GOD his posts don't show the images in it.
So if you have some source on "this doesn't deserve a bann" please share.
To me every single situation is subject to a case by case analysis, and in this case I believe this should lead to the conclusion a bann is deserved.

Discussing that is one of the reasons for this thread. See it is already serving it's purpose.

Quote from: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads.

So which is against the forum rules so he may get ban even for his activity,I hope he will get at least a temp ban.

Also I expect ban for them. No doubts. But forum will not do this for simple case. It's depend of situation.

Quote full tread = Zero or low value post. I have asked question about it. A answere from DT, he never mention also they deserve ban.

Should we report who had post only quote without his own comment ? Especially I noticed from bounty thread and ANN thread. I believe they are spammers. Their intention is bumping thread only. Otherwise there is no reason just quote full thread without own comment. Mostly newbie account has been doing that job. I expect we should report this kind of thread. I want to know from moderators what should we write on comment during reporting time ?

Yes, it's clearly a "zero value" post as per rule #1. I report them with "quote only, no content" and they get deleted.

Answere from moderators

What if the most of the user's messages are low value posts?

For example, Sr. Member jezus (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1002610) has a ton of pointless comments https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1002610;sa=showPosts

You can report a few of their posts, and include a message in the report field that they have multiple bad posts. If it isn't obvious then you could just report all of the messages you consider low value posts. However, if you are asking what will happen to user with low value posts being that of the majority of their posts then that depends on the moderator dealing with the user. If they deem it bad then they may request a global moderator/admin to ban the user. Really depends case by case.

So if you have some source on "this doesn't deserve a bann" please share.
I am proof, I had reported lot of post, they just got delete but didn't ban them. Although I have report entire thread on spam boost topic.

When the spambie is still newbie he can be nuked so all his posts will got deleted,I hope he will be nuked by mods because he doesn't add anything to his posts, just quoting and leaving without writing anything.

Exactly! Newbie accounts with zero merits who spam the boards just like the mentioned user should be banned permanently. It's obvious that these people rank out to be the spammers of the future and then banning them becomes even more difficult. There should be zero-tolerance policies towards the newbie accounts.

This is an example. Not a RULE.

There's another one I got, although this user didn't quote only intentionally. But it's really ridiculous. How can even it happen?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4544600.msg48210109#msg48210109

User just has quoted an OP and added nothing.
