Title: ETC Mining with 3 GB Nvidia- cuda error - cannot allocate big buffer for dag Post by: velma on November 24, 2018, 06:18:20 PM I've been mining ETC with a 3 GB rig using SMOS and Claymore version 11.9. I know that in early 2019 the 3 GB cards will not work for this algorithm anymore. Two days ago, I received this "cuda error - cannot allocate big buffer for dag. check readme.txt for possible solutions claymore."
I found this thread... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php A quick fix was to add -eres 0 to the command line but that's not working anymore as my rig stopped hashing again and won't reboot. Any suggestions on how to keep this going until early 2019? Thanks in advance. The temporary workaround is to put a 4GB+ card into the first x16 slot, but it will break again in roughly 2 weeks.
