Title: What happened to MtGox emptying accounts before "bankruptcy"
Post by: fredrik_eliasson on November 25, 2018, 06:00:59 PM
Hi!

So a while before the scandal, my MtGox account was emptied (hackedish). From what I could gather, several people had the same issue, and the most likely culprit was some "admin" on the site (high security password, account emptied right after large deposit).

Is it too late or has it ever been possible to claim my loss? I have guessed not, but the thoughts are eating away at me... It was over 57BTC...

Anyone has an answer, so I can forget about this ordeal?

Best regards, Fredrik

According to this article (https://www.ethnews.com/mtgox-creditors-to-begin-filing-claims-to-retrieve-lost-funds) (published in August):

Quote
Anyone wishing to file a civil rehabilitation claim must do so before October 22, 2018, or risk losing their right to make a claim. The guide states that MtGox plans to inform creditors whether their claim was accepted or rejected by January 24, 2019, but the date is subject to change.

The webpage to claim is still online so It may not hurt to try. Also, check this guide (PDF) (https://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/20180823_qa_en.pdf).
