My account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1141896) was blocked and I would like to know the reason for blocking my account because I thought for a long time and could not understand what was the reason, so I decided to go to the cleanest place of this forum.

If you have been banned for this particular case, then I guess the mods have to un-ban you because the posts dates are wrong and you actually are the original poster in the case.
The mods have to say if this was the reported case you got banned for or other one.

I reported that but now that I'm seeing these posts next to each other it looks like it could be a mangled quote. Not sure why alex_kir added a period and didn't post any reply of their own though. And some weird editing in another post there.

Obviously OP typed his reply inside the pyramid quote.
If this is the reason of the ban then hilariousandco (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=164822) can easily unban him, but what if this is not the real cause of the ban!! hilariousandco should contact the one who banned the account for clarification.

ps: I think "when banning an account" mods should add the reason of the ban and it should be visible on the account's profile page to avoid ban-appeal threads.

Only theymos can see who banned him, but there's only one report on the queue on that user and it follows a few others banned for copy and pasting in the same thread.


Manually banning people is clunky and very time-consuming and we have a one click button for a permaban so that's what usually happens. The ban message should probably be chnaged to you have been banned for plagiarism since that's probably what it's used for in 99% of cases. I have requested an additional button that gives the same message to clear up further confusion.

No doubt about it. I have no idea how can be mistaken. IMO, this was done intentionally.

I'm not so sure.  As suchmoon, iasenko, khaled0111, and hilariousandco have already noted; it appears that alex_kir made a mistake when quoting the pyramid.  I'm inclined to agree.

Furthermore, as hilariousandco mentioned this is the only report made for user alex_kir.  Most plagiarists don't stop at one copypasta, they are serial plagiarists.  After scanning many of alex_kir's posts I did not find any more plagiarism.  Although one can argue most of the user's posts are worthless shitcoin blather, they were on topic and seem to be original.

How about that additional text inside Sherwoodforest's post? It's original content (at least I couldn't find any matches) and it makes it look like alex_kir screwed up the reply.

Maybe he was mistaken. But it's just my opinion. Moreover, I have no authority to cancel the ban. This will be decided by global moderators or administrators.

It is possible to assume that it was a mistake on the part of the user and the account can be unlocked. The solution remains with administrators or global moderators. But I still don't understand how you could have made a mistake.

To be honest, I do not understand how this happened :-\ but if the forum moderators paid attention to this, then this is an irrefutable fact. I hope that such a mistake will be forgiven and Global Moderator @hilariousandco or other Global Moderators will unban me. What can I do for this?

It happen with me one time, when you have a long quote pyramid and you try to respond from your phone/in my case/ sometimes you scroll down and you see a few empty lines and decide, OK here is the end of the message, but what actually happen is someone of the commenting has used the Enter a bit too much and you have 2-3 breaks which seems like the end of the message.

You just write there and in the mean time someone else have posted before you and you get a warning but you post your post anyway. Then you go and read the post before you and just forget to check yours.

What saved me in my case was the fact that I remove the irrelevant quotes from message, but I have deleted one opening quote tag too much, so there was one closing tag left. This tag saved my ass.

It happens some times, I'm sure i'm not the only one.

I wrote PM for hilariousandco. I really hope that my message will be read and the user hilariousandco will still respond to my request.

As a result of the situation, I think that the moderators also agree that I did not deserve a ban.

I unbanned the account. It does look like it could be a mistake and since no others can be found I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm still trying figure out what happen in this case as well, because he copied the text as response in quote to the original post, I mean why would he copy a post to reply to the same original post ? I guess OP could really be having an issue with using the "quote" option

I can understand the earlier issue. There was clearly some original content, possibly dislocated quote tags.

This new example - not so much. What kind of issue could make someone quote a post, duplicate its text, and submit it without typing any response?

How it is possible to make a successful appeal for unbanning and three weeks later screw it up so blatantly?  :-[

Wow, this is really a direction to plagiarism.

I will explain how this happened. The fact is that I am not a native speaker of English and in some cases it turns out that I have to copy messages in order to translate it. In this case, I copied it to the forum. Yes, I agreed looks terrible and stupid.

Without a doubt, I understand that this is completely my mistake and my stupidity. There was no idea to copy this post and put it here. I hope you understand that this is a very stupid mistake. If you pay attention, you will see that I have never had plagiarism.
