Title: Re: HELP!! Where are my coins??
Post by: lonex2008 on November 29, 2018, 08:42:56 AM
Hi guys,

I have a huge problem. Can somebody help me?

I send coints from my coinbase account to my binance account, and unfortunalty there was a copy/paste error and I send the coints to anoher adress/user/platform etc.

The Id-adress do not belong to binance and they can help me.
coinbase and letherscan can't help me too.

I can't believe it, that there is no way to find out, to wich user or trading platform I send the coints?

Any suggestion?

The best would be to create a new topic in the correct sub.

A copy/paste error can not occur.

If you have misstyped the address, the chances are very very very low that it actually is a valid address.
If copy/pasting results in a different address being pasted than you copied, chances are high you have a clipping malware.

Try copying any address and paste it into notepad (or anywhere else). If a different address appears, you computer is infected with malware.
In this case, you need to save your personal data and reinstall your OS to make sure your system is clean.

Of course they can't. Only the receipent can (voluntarily) send them back to you.

I can't believe it, that there is no way to find out, to wich user or trading platform I send the coints?

That's due to the pseudonymous nature of bitcoin.

Chances are your PC is infected with clipboard hijacking malware: when you copy/paste a Bitcoin address, the malware replaces it with the attacker's address and you lose your coins.
All Bitcoin transactions are final, if you send your coins to the wrong address, only the owner can return them. And if the current owner created malware to steal your coins, there's no chance he'll return them.

It's better to create a new topic than posting in this one.

Oh. So it does look that it was a problem with the address you pasted. You probably accidentally replaced the single character that was different. Because if this was a hacker's address, what are the chances that you both had an almost exactly identical address with only 1 character difference? If it's the case that it was just an error on your side, then unfortunately I don't think contacting exchanges isn't going to accomplish anything.

That's a bit odd, most common error comes from the last digit and first digit of the address but with your experience it's totally different.

Now there's no chance that you can get back that amount.

but the reallity is, there is no way to finde out who is the lucky user :)
Well, he/she's really lucky if someone has that address in their wallet.

Its odd but actually its possible to have such error when you accidentally press up mouse and touch any keys on KB giving out a single character change.
This is why when copy pasting we should really be careful because one wrong single character will really cost you.

But still, mostly when you copied text and paste it to some textbox or anywhere else once you touch or click a key in your KB it will show/inserted at the last spot of the text. :-\

Anyways, to OP you should exert extra careful when you paste any address to be sent. Much better that you double or even triple check the address before clicking the send button.

Then, the coin will probably lost forever.

You can't, except you want do brute forcing which is really take a long time, which is almost impossible for now.

You mean etherscan? Of course, it's in there, probably you can see all sent coins there on that site, you can see it even in ethexplorer.io as well, coz its the ETH blockchain.

And all kind of coins are in there own blockchain, you just use a wallet(software) to send and receive them with the private and the public key to wallet address.

What if I did the huge mystace and this wallet does not belong to anyone?
It belongs to someone who owns the wallet address.

How can I get the key for this wallet?
You mean the private key? there's no way you can do it either, just give up.

Seems, you're just new in this industry, I suggest you to read some articles related to blockchain/private/public/wallet address on how they work and what security procedure you should apply regarding in choosing wallet client, holding/sending coins so you can avoid on accidents like this.
