What's the most simple way to describe what bitcoin is for people?
Will be cool to read in the comments some new creative ways to do that! ;D

I think that the only thing I would add is that it's virtual and somehow try to explain the blockchain, not quite sure how to do that for a 7 year old. I guess explaining that all transactions are logged and visible. 'If mummy gives daddy 1 bitcoin then it's visible and anyone can see that mummy did that'

This is money that bakirs and the government cannot take away from you.

Explaining to an ADULT is hard. Imagine how hard it is to explain it to a child. :)

I would do it this way: Bitcoin is the newest method of payment that is virtual and digital, but is way more honest and sincere than the palpable one.

For a kid bitcoin is nothing because at this age kids never able to know that what is it as currency they don't know the importance of money the usage of money and they are free of all this and when they become at the age of 15 years then they can use money so they know the importance at that time so it is very common that bitcoin is difficult for aged people now so how kids can understand it.

bitcoin is pocket money created by machines owned by people not by governments.
imagine the machines like complicated calculators that people can own in their homes

its done by putting a list of peoples pocket money spending together into a list, like writing down math stuff in a maths notepad. and then doing some complex maths based on stuff of that page of the notepad

each new notepad page has a link to the previous page, simply like "continiung from previous page" but using the complicated maths result to prove its continuing from the last page.
that way all pages of a math notepad can be proved to link together to stop anyone from just cheating and slipping a new page in the middle of a notepad so that teachers can easily spot who done their homework and who didnt


the people that own the complex calculators that do the complex math get paid new pocketmoney if the complex math is correct. but thy can only spend it after 100 new pages of maths homework is done and correct after the page that people want to spend their rewards from.
because the maths teachers around the world that check the answers not only want to check the answers are right. but also want to see lots of homework added on afterwards that its impossible to change an earlier answer because so many pages have been added to a math notepad

A 7 years old kid knows what money is so they'll understand when you tell them that Bitcoin is a type of money that cannot be felt nor touched (virtual currency).

This is wrong because virtual is associated with unreal. Bitcoin is real money because if you can pay with something it's very real.
We could say that fiat money on a bank account is also virtual money because the bank doesn't physically have it. It only has numbers on a server.

Yet can be functional as what the fiat currency can. It just that it is regulated that is why it is not used in different companies or stores. It is the USD of the virtual world. Can perform a lot of things, with much more good features. More easy transactions can be done through it.

Usually kids would learn fast unless they have almost no curiosity and this very important of learning.   I know one of my cousin who knows how to play Go and Chess at the age of 9.

Bitcoin is the Internet of Money. Imagine taking paper money and turning it into numbers on a computer and then you have digital money. There are some important differences, because the paper money is controlled and created by governments, where digital money <Crypto currencies> is created by software.

If are only a 7-year-old child, I will not tell him something that would make him difficult to understand. Just tell him that if you have pocket money, you may buy some bitcoin. When you grow up, you will benefit from what you did when you were a child.

Right, at there young age it never understand it's hard to explain what bitcoin and the importance of bitcoin, so it's better to wait the right time we can explain them  the true meaning of bitcoin and the usage of it and I know they understand easily the usage of bitcoin.

For me it will be easy for kids to understand bitcoin by telling them that its an investment and its the easiest way to earn money. Because of course they are just kids who just watch cartoons at television during weekends.

Bitcoin is a digital currency which has a very unique way to be use for payment with no restrictions in border or deal for any form of third party concert before it reflect in the wallet of the receiver and can be called store of asset.

Well you see child, bitcoin is virtual money that you cant touch but you know its there.The only way you can see it it trough your computer. People use it for games for stuff and for sutuff in games,but there are people who use it to make money cuz the price of that virtual money(bitcoin)can rise and go down.

I will tell them, that bitcoin is a means to make payments that are almost the same as the fiat currency that we use in our daily lives. I would simply tell you that it is digital money that can be used to make transactions with few fees and in record time even if they are international, it is true that we have to invent easier ways to explain to people the use of bitcoin, because when you start talking about cryptography and how the blockchain works, we usually lose their attention.

Future Investment.
Bitcoin is cryptocurrency and its a store of value like digital gold. Indeed the price always volatile but its long term investment and the price always growing. I think to describe what is bitcoin is future investment because its long term investment.

for small children, especially for those who like games:
Bitcoin is a token that you can use to buy games and also top games to buy some game items that you play, so they will definitely be interested.

for adults:
bitcon is almost like gold but in digital form, where bitcoin has an estimated value for investment and also has functional value even though no store has officially used bitcoin as a payment tool, but you can use it as an agreement with your party. Moreover, the bitcoin transaction is peer to peer, so there is no third party that will make you more comfortable using Bitcoin.

It is hard to explain to a 7 year old kid since many people also finding hard to understand what bitcoin is. For me, i would just simply explain to the kid that bitcoin is a digital high valued currency.

because they are unfamiliar with those words, so they prefer not to hear that, I think we have to explain bitcoin in a simple way like we explain something to children. say that bitcoin is a digital currency that is not controlled by anyone, and you become a bank for yourself

Bitcoin is a virtual or digital currency used in trading, payment option..
Moreso, that the price or value is been determined by the traders most especially supply and demand.

It is hard to explain to a 7 year old kid what is bitcoin, and I think even if how simple you will say it to a kid they will never get interest with it. Imagine how hard to explain it to an adult and still they are not all interested with bitcoin. So, maybe it will still depend on a person how interest they are to bitcoin before they will understand bitcoin fully.

At 7 years old kid  is not fit to teach about bitcoin because at young age they want to enjoy their life in playing. even if you teach them it is useless they don't understand what is it so may at 10 years old that's possible to the kids willing to understand what bitcoin is.

Bitcoin in my personal opinion, it is a virtual currency that can be use as mode of payment transaction in online merchants who are bitcoin accepted. Or any exchange in the other country. Because here in my country the major usage of bitcoin was remittances, which it can be send nationwide in my place.

Well i'll describe it as something that they should be interested about when they grow older. Bitcoin is way beyond a 7yr old's capacity to digest and they should be focusing on playing and building a good foundation for eq.

I think it is difficult for an average 7 years old people to understand the bitcoin at its simpliest explanation because at that age children aren't fully capable of absorbing data and information such thing however, if you are to explain what bitcoin is then it should be explain that bitcoin is a currency that can only be use via intenet to have transactions.

Describing bitcoin to a 7 years old children is quite hard for a reason that your choice of words should be a simpliest word and easy to understand. If ever you are to explain what bitcoin is to that young age it should come like this: bitcoin is a cryptocurrency or a currency that doesn't come in physical. You can use it via internet and buy or pay things using internet connection and gadgets.

The perfect way to make a child of 7 years old understand bitcoin is to simplify it as much as possible by telling the child that bitcoin is money but it is money that is digital that can be sent to friends, family members and business associate without bank, government or any third party.

Bitcoin is money but not physical money so you cannot see it. It is digital money that nobody or government controls, for this reason, it is decentralized. and bitcoin is sent from one person to another person(P2P) without any third party who like any other payment system will mediate between these two persons for a fee but it is not so with bitcoin. The  P2P transaction will go through from one person to the other person and no service charge to any third party as there is none. Bitcoin runs on an electronic ledger called blockchain where the data is stored and can be confirmed any day.

It is because most of the adults people can't get the catch of bitcoin how much more the kids at age 7 years old, isn't right?

i think a 7 year old kid will not understand bitcoin.but if he want to know about bitcoin then i will say bitcoin is our money.

Try to explain fiat money, you probably won't even find an adult who really understand it.

Don't judge other people by your standards. There are many smart 7 year olds out there. If a kid understands the basic concept of money, it's easy to explain electronic money that isn't held by the bank but by you. in short, the explanation for a 7-year-old child is that bitcoin can be used for transactions and can be used to buy goods. Bitcoin is a business world so I prefer to explain to people who are adults.

Children should enjoy their childhood because they still have a lot to learn about the basic fundementals like cognitive skills, reading, writing, basic calculations etc. They still have to develop those skills and you already want them to teach difficult computer side things that even average joes has difficulty in understanding.

no matter what easy and lite words will be using , a 7 year old wont still pay attention to it becuase they are too young and money or business is not their priority  .  kids  dont care to the world or to the people around them but they only care about their selves and on how they can enjoy thier life playing with toys .  

though this is a good idea because  it is actually better to  teach our kids as early as possible to handle money more effeciently but we must also wait when they are already ready  or atleast in a proper age .

This is quiet difficult but let me give it a try. Bitcoin is like money but its in a different form. It is digital form of money which can be sent to anybody at any part of the world via the use of digital wallet which is installed on either a smart phone or a PC. The questions seems don't make any sense for me and even for long explanation bitcoin still difficult to be understand by kids 7 years old because most of them usually only understand how to play with their friends and toys and even though you attempts to explain this to their parents but not necessarily they will understand too and short words still not enough to describe the meaning of bitcoin

if there is a 7-year-old child asking me what is bitcoin, then I will answer, bitcoin is money where you need the internet to use it, I think that age child now understands technology, online and gadjet, so if you say the word money and the internet then all that will be in their minds, and they will not be difficult to digest in his brain

If what you mean is for a 7-year-old child, it would be difficult for me to tell that, because I think children of that age are still too early to know bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

If you want to tell to them in a simply way and in way they can understand it well, just tell to them that it is a new form of money at the same time you can use it as an investment. But, I think 7 year old child can't understand it because their mindset is still in playing not doing money.

I would not say it to 7-year-old kids just because this is not yet for them. Even with fiat, most of kids out there still can't use it correctly, so there's no point to tell them about it yet. But if we want to tell to the adult, then the better comparasion will be gold since gold is well known all over the world. Bitcoin till today isn't allowed as a payment method here in my country, therefore most bitcoiners here will treat it as an asset instead of currency.

They are 7, why would you introduce porn to these children? But in our place, they already know what is porn, what are they doing and what would happen if they carelessly do that. Just make sure that the kid is understand how internet and wallet works because it's a combination between those two.
For early explanation is a great choice but for implementing usage is not recommended because they are still not understand how to protect their private key !
