Hello,
I would like to post an announcement about a future ICO.
I have seen the "Announcements (Altcoins)" section, but my announcement is not about an Altcoin, but about a trading platform.
I have read the FAQs, helps and guides, I have not found the answer to this question.
What would be the appropriate section for this kind of announcement?

So long as it's an ICO - "Initial Coin Offering" it still falls under the same category of altcoins... I don't know much about your exchange but am pretty sure you will be offering investors coins/tokens in exchange for their BTCs or Ethers... Right?
This is more reason for it to fall under Altcoin Announcements because your coin or token will be an Altcoin

Service Announcements (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=84.0) but since it was not live yet, I see it will be fit at Project Development (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=12.0) section for the meantime.

Mine elaborating more? Since it's ICO, it should be on "Announcements (Altcoins)". You can post it already and let the community see the content and details.

Yes, indeed, there will be ERC20 tokens, so you're right, "Announcements (Altcoins)" makes total sense.
The "Service announcements" section also seems perfectly appropriate :).
Well, I'll send it first to the "Project Development" section, and then to the "Service Announcements" section.
I prefer to highlight the service rather than the token which does not have a major role here.

I'm confused. You're planning on announcing an exchange.. with an ICO? It doesn't add up. If you're releasing an exchange with a token for some purpose, then probably post it on the Announcements (Altcoins)[1] as it still evolves an altcoin in the first place.

If you are highlighting the service of your platform then I think it should be good there.

If the mod sees it posted there as wrong section, they will automatically move it to the right one base on their judgment.

If this trading platform is running an ICO, which is Initial Coin Offerring, then that has to mean that it owns or would be run with a custom token or coin, and should be posted in Token (altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=240.0)
If it's a service announcement you can post in one of the suitable child boards under Marketplace (altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=161.0)

The best place for announcing an ico is the announcement section of the form and you also say it is a trading platform then it might go in the project development links to the two has already been post on reply of other member.  But how about checking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0 that is the trading discussion and I advice you Dont just post any announcement quickly just understand the discussion there

So it seems that the "Announcements (Altcoins)" section is the one most often mentioned in this thread, and also by seniors members, so I will post there.

Onuohakk, I don't understand your remark. If this is about understanding what trading is and what traders are looking for, then ok, I understand perfectly. I am also a long-time trader. Did I miss something?

The best advice you would definitely get has already been giving I don't see what will confuse you just use the announcement section and you would receive attention if your project is not a scam

Service section is the best section for announce a ICO Because in this section there are lots of active members. They check this section every day. So I prefer this section for announce a ICO
