Introduction

Arbo is the esperanto word for Tree. ArboChain is a blockchain implementation based on cryptonote technology, the same used by Monero, Aeon and Bytecoin.
The code has been forked from Ombre (Sumokoin), refactored and cleaned.

Arbo is designed to provide security and privacy while being, like no other project, environmentally aware of the carbon footprint created by the Proof of Work.

From the technical point of view Arbo implements Ring Confidential Transactions (RingCT) for protecting the privacy of the users. ArboChain is fungible, this means that Arbos are fully interchangeable. The development team is active in order to keep ArboChain in line with the technical evolution.

But...what’s new?

ArboChain has a basic mechanism for compensating the CO2 emissions of the mining operations. For each block mined, 3% of the reward is redirected to an ad-hoc wallet and then used for green projects (eg. planting trees, lending money for agricultural projects).
The 1% premined wallet will fund server/hosting cost and cryptocurrency research, in a transparent and accountable way.

Arbo is not only a blockchain implementation, it is a project! Behind ArboChain there will be a non-profit organization, that will be devoted to support green projects and cryptography research.

If you are asking about the technical differences, we are using the same technology (cryptonote) as sumo and other monero derivates/forks, but some of the differences are that we use crypthonight heavy algorithm. We premined 1% (sumokoin premined 10%), we have a smaller total supply.

if the technical same as other cryptonote but you choice heavy for algo, So this coin will be support GPU miners ?
ok,i will mine this coin after there is already has pool..

for now it seems good, launching the project only can be mine using CPU.
but its better if has cli wallet for windows for gain more users.

Hello, the official pool is not yet out.

You can mine in the wallet via "start_mining"

But first, launch the daemon arbochaind.exe and synchronize.

For each block mined, 3% of the reward is redirected to an ad-hoc wallet and then used for green projects 
(eg. planting trees, lending money for agricultural projects).

The wallet will be tranparent, but there are some steps to happen before. We need the blockchain explorer, and we'll publish the address and viewkey then. For te green projects we'll have to have ARBO listed on some of the exchanges. The short term plans are to facilitate startups like "treedom" to plant trees or similar projects like lending funds via Kiva. In the long term it will be managed by the Arbo foundation.

how to start mining with gui?

i will wait Windows GUI Wallet  to easy use , i hope dev will release it soon .

as far i know solo mine for cryptonote algo not required gui wallet just needed deamon and cli..
gui or paperwaller just needed if has a pool

In windows:
1)Launch arbochaind, wait for sync, keep it open
2)Launch the arbo-wallet-cli, follow instructions for creating a new one (in case) or open an existing one.
3)Type "start_mining" in the wallet windows and enjoy mining.

In the wallet window write "balance" to know your balance.
In the Daemon window (arbochaind) write "status" to know your hashrate.

CPU mining or gpu? Can you still get something via CPU mining?
No block explorer yet. What's the current difficulty?
Also, are you going to establish a separate website for your green projects and cryptography research?
And publish all the transactions and related organizations benefiting from this project?

If viewed from the road map in early 2019 team will launch the paper wallet and also Official ARBO mining pool, so far it does everything is ready and tested, or are in the testing phase?

CPU mining for the time being. GPU is possible via a pool but the official one is not out yet.
We aim at having a sub-site for projects. This will be separated when the foundation will be established.
Expenditure for projects will be accounted transparently of course! We will ask the beneficiaries to certify.

Most of the projects with noble mission didn't really end up doing their mission.
So I'm wondering if you can really implement those green projects and give consistent support.
Usually, the support is only at the start.

We are testing the wallets and for he official mining pool we're considering cooperation with some industry experts which are running other pools as we believe that running a serious pool is a project itself.


We think that the project mission gives us the edge and our goal is to deliver what we promised. It's a lot of work but so far we're staying on top of it.

The pool is being set up as mentioned in another post.
The repo is still empty because we code first, then write comments. :) we're preparing the documentation/compile instructions and will release the code when ready. Most of the exchanges requirement is to release the code before being reviewed and listed.

We are not managing it or responsible for its functioning. All questions with that regards should be addressed to the pool provider (youpool.io).

It seems to me a fantastic and very necessary project

I am minning Arbo via CPU (Ryzen) powered by solar energy (Canary Islands) in a 9 hectare rural piece of ground in disuse (since more than 70 years ago).

Althought these terrain only generate losses, In the last 4 years I plant some chesnuts and almonds trees, and to support them (some cenntenial chesnut and almond trees are dry) I make a modern irrigation system.

In the technical side, my hashrate and the actual reward is too low for a profitable mining. When start (in blockchain height) the camel distribution?.

That's great to hear. We like the fact that others are also conscious and think about the environment!
The Canary Islands are perfect as you have sun all year long, but the price of electricity is not so high either, so good decision to go solar!

The camel distribution started with the start of the coin. It's similar to the one of Ombre and Sumo, but we have a block-time of 120 seconds. I assume you ask about the peak coin emission which is after 4 years. ;)

Yes i know this is a lot of work, and better to do it right than fast, but we need some information.. and hope.

This might be worth keeping an eye on. Any plans on bounties to spread awareness? When does the bounty end? Does it have a date of completion? Thanks.

This is pretty much our TODO list, with a slightly different order. You must be a fortune teller :) Some of the items are being tested and we'll let you know when it's ready. Aside of the technical aspects we are also looking into the legislation for establishing the arbo foundation. We are still a small team and we're currently looking to expand (among people we know and trust) in order to speed up the work.

70 days since ANN, and no source code, no news... No official pool, no block explorer...  nothing. Only delays, nothing real.

afiak fork crytonote coin 80%  is scam, so dont mine before you know founder and team behind create the project..
especially dont have any source , domain .info just 3$ per years..

The pool is not working anymore

Does anyone know how to make a pool? And any news from the devs, a sign or something? I had high hopes for this coin but for the moment i am in some doubt.

I had high hopes for this coin too, but the devs did nothing in 3 months.

And no one go to make a pool to a random cryptonote fork with no source.

If you want, you could solominning, its not a big difference... when the youpool worked, it was only two minners at 90% of time... and one was me (the other minner with 3Kh had the 95% of the hashrate, I only had 0,2 Kh).

At least i only missed (too much) time.

Is the coun dead? Solo mining dosent work anymore. Would it be possible for someone else to continue the project?
