International rating agency Weiss Ratings has recommended now as the best time to buy Bitcoin, saying it represents cryptocurrency’s “least speculative investment.”
As part of a series of tweets December 11, Weiss, which has produced mixed messages about its opinion of Bitcoin in the past, now said it is “here to stay.”

“(Bitcoin) is getting to such low levels that it’s becoming one of the best buying opportunities of the year,” one tweet reads.

Surely Weiss Rating needs to add more than an opinion of what they are saying. Sure tweets are limited to 280 characters yet they could create a series of tweets out of it. I really don't know who Weiss Rating are so it just makes them look like they are hyping Bitcoin at this point especially when they said BTC is the "least speculative investment a person can make" without putting some more information why they think it is one, if BTC was an ICO I am sure that this man is like part of the team behind them.

Well, it's obviously the best buying opportunity of the year -- price is the lowest it's been in 2018 and it's December! Thanks Weiss, but that was sort of a no-brainer. :)

This is indeed no brainer but even in to this opportunity people would still have that hesitance to accumulate cheap coins.They would only buy if they are already seeing recovery.lol

They later came back to that statement and said it was meant to be Ethereum-like platforms, not necessarily Ethereum itself.

If a noob in crypto land thinks it's the best time to buy Bitcoin, it probably means we have way more room to the downside. But yeah, from $6000 (which was the yearly support) to $3000 is a 50% discount, so that's definitely a dip to buy into conservatively. Institutions don't need any of these parties to tell them when to buy, and average joes won't buy into a market that has done nothing but go down this year.

Note - 'the year' as in this year what has less than two weeks left.

Next year might have even more best opportunities and they'll be right there to advise us on them.

A lot of these rating agencies are just making waves and headlines for no reason. Will they retract this statement, when the price drops lower or if we see no increase in the price for 2 or 3 years? Remember... before the 2017 spike in the price, we had a 3 year slump.  ::)

It is easy to make a prediction, but a whole other story to back that statement with facts. Yes, the price dropped by more than 80% and most people would make the logical assumption that it is low enough to be a bargain, but when will the price increase again for that to be a huge bargain?  ::)

Price drops aren't indicators of buying opportunities, we have seen that this year. Every drop people thought to be an interesting buying opportunity has been a bad price to buy at, and I don't expect anything to change.

People need to understand that the price can always go lower in the short to mid term. Mining cost is no indicator either with how a lower difficulty means lower production costs, so keep that in mind.

As we speak, we're due for an 11% drop in difficulty, and I'm sure we'll keep seeing it go down because there is no end in sight, especially if tax sales turn out to be a thing in January and February. Be conservative. Expect worse.

Least speculative investment among all of crypto,,, this has always been the position of Bitcoin. But let us not forget that the entire crypto industry as it stands is all about speculation and as this year has shown us it is the most speculative of all asset classes. So little of assets is backed by anything other than Bitcoin being steeped in security and utility. Everything else is hype and marketing with nothing to show as a userbase and product. But when the bull market comes people will forget this anyway :)

no offense but I think a lot of people may have noticed this, even weeks ago the price was $ 6500 so buying now has many chances of the person making a profit of 2X or 3X or even 6X in the coming months. so this is something that many people may have already noticed.

It might be but as long as bitcoin will not ve able to reach a certain point of amount that we like to see bitcoin grow then i am not sure if it is really good to invest in bitcoin for there could be a high chance also that bitcoin will going to end. Fud's are already posted everywhere and I have read through bitcoin's discussion threads abd replies.

Because people are always too emotional and they lose in the long run. When Bitcoin was at $5 people were saying that it's not worth it because it's just some Internet money with no substance that will never compete with fiat.
At $500 they were saying that it's in a bubble and won't go anywhere from there because it rose by 1000%. No asset can go through a 1000% gain in 3 years and still continue.
Now they are saying the same thing. That it's not worth it because it's still too expensive and it will never reach 20000 dollars again.

The whale clubs I am following all thought wrong though. Of course the possibility to go down even further was there but generally everyone was saying that months of stability and almost all the TA showed that 6.5 k or 6k were the best opportunity of the year. And then when the sudden crash happened, they all posted targets, which were all triggered, but then stop losses took them out too, and it happened 5 times or so again on the way down to where it is now.

So every signal group lost money, except those who rightly shorted. But fortunes can swing again. Just needs one bull reversal to happen and those in profit will be caught out. Those who have been patiently taking all the stop losses will be in with loads of cheap BTC.

oh and their previous predictions about etherium didn't hold water either
they are louded as one of the best asset rating platforms in the world, so if they would like to put their money where their mouth is
and buy lots of coins and post the transaction details , I may consider their predictions

Wut? So your preference is to buy at the top again? Many coins are now 95% or more down. If you believe they have a future then these are the times to be buying. You might yet be able to buy for less but all of this year has been a crappier time than round about now. I expect early next year could well be better. I'll leave that to someone else.

Time will tell if now if now is indeed the best opportunity to buy Bitcoin, but there's no doubt that it's a great opportunity - a good time to buy is when the market is capitulating, and we've started hearing words that Bitcoin is going to zero. Soon most of the weak hands will quit and a slow period of accumulation will start - noobs will no longer believe in the future rally, so smart investors will have plenty of time to buy.

if an asset is losing value , it is better to find the bottom first
we clearly haven't found one and buying now is good if you do not care to lose several hundreds and plan to HODL anyways

They really are not wrong. I'd say that this is fairly accurate, in fact.

Even though prices may not be at its absolute bottom at this stage of the bear market, it should be fairly close to that figure given the length of time that the bear market has gone on for, as well as the amount of institutions that seem to be interested in investing or at least engaging in crypto based operations during this bear market.

Though, if you are planning on investing at this time, make sure that you have sufficient leverage in terms of time, as a bull market may not emerge until much later on, potentially a few years. Thus, see it as a long term investment as opposed to a short term way to make money.

The amount of people who successfully buy the absolute bottom approximates the number who sell the absolute top - perhaps 0.00001% of people who've ever traded.

People who settle on a price that is good enough do better than those who wait forever and get left behind convinced their target will eventually hit. We see that here constantly.

So true. I tried that and failed as well. Sold and waited for the dip to end, but it was up in an instant. To give you an example of how buying the bottom works:
You see a huge dip right now to $3000, do you buy or not? I guess not because you prefer to wait for a green candle.
A green candle appears and is small at the beginning, it takes the price back above the level of support, to 3300. Do you buy or not? Was that the bottom we were waiting for? Was that a capitulation candle? Is the $3000 confirmed? You decide to wait and 30 min later the candle is at 3500, and we never revisit 3000 again. You didn't buy the bottom.
That's why less than 1% of investors manage to do it and it's not worth trying. It's better to realize what price levels satisfy you and stick to these levels.
