It's almost the new year, and 2019 will be our MOST EXCITING year to date! So many exciting new projects and collaborations, with thousands more coins circulating the planet! And the next thing on our list for 2019 is to auction off the space for YOUR NAME or initials to be minted on THOUSANDS of our NEW 2019 Bitcoin Penny™ Commemorative Coins!

As most of you know, our inaugural 2015 Bitcoin Penny™ Commemorative Coin had the mint mark "CJB" minted below the date on the front of the coin. Every year since, we've auctioned that same mint mark space to the highest bidder, and every year we have a TON of fun doing it!


Previous winners include:

DaveF who chose the name "DAVE" to be minted on our 2016 Bitcoin Penny™ Commemorative Coins! (That's why the 2016 coin is commonly called the DAVE coin!)

Greenplastic who chose the phrase "IRIE" to be minted on our 2017 Bitcoin Penny™ Commemorative Coins! (That's why the 2017 coin is commonly called the IRIE coin!)

Anti-Sniping Rule / Grace Period: There will be a grace period of 10 minutes following the last bid. When 10 minutes pass without a new bid, the auction will be officially ended. If another bid is placed at 10:03PM, then the auction extends until 10:13PM, and so forth.

Not a name, only. It could be initials. (That's how this tradition began.) Or any series of alphabetic/numeric characters. As for special characters, we'd rather stick to traditional characters.

2019’s Bitcoin Penny mint mark will be:  AMD

Well I took my sweet time revealing this mostly due to laziness, but also this is quite a meaningful auction to have won. I’m not any particular fan of the electronics company by the same moniker, but I am a fan of my recently departed mother, whose initials these are.

It’s odd losing a parent on short notice at a young age. She'd beat cancer 10 year earlier and was now healthy appearing, yet didn’t reach 60. When she came ill, she had to cancel her yearly vegas trip and was pretty ticked off about it.  Wanting to fill the thrill of pulling that slot lever, I asked if she’d like me to manage a small crypto trading portfolio for her, with daily updates for her entertainment. She’d make her input, “take that profit”, “hold more in cash”, “why the hell did you buy grlc”. Within a few weeks she had “won” enough to purchase a loaded btc tenth from me. Even paid market rate.

The year prior to this, each and every crypto collectible or numismatic/bullion purchase I made-We bonded over-studying the artful differences and significance of each release.  She thoroughly enjoyed looking at all this varying bullion, coins, chips, bills, etc.  It was my grandfather & grandmother who left me a coin collection of wheat cents at a young age that got me into numismatics to begin with. Though this entire experience is insignificant in the larger scheme, it was an excitement and joy with each new acquisition I had to share – an experience I will cherish and not soon forget.

Too many people worth remembering go forgotten over a long enough timespan. AMD was more than a mother to me, she was inspiration and meaning.  The professional work she did quite literally changed the faces on this planet. Though the nature of her kind of work often goes unrecognized for the impacts it can have – the significance was not lost on me. To live is one thing, to contribute positively to the world past your own demise is an entirely other, rare experience.

Bidding to win this auction was my simple, fitting little way of immortalizing her - a gesture I cannot wait to share with her/my family.
