Title: Getting rid of ants
Post by: sodalime on December 16, 2018, 10:00:17 AM
Genuine issue here, does anyone have any good solutions to getting rid of ants?

Last time they started getting inside the house, but luckily they haven't reached that stage yet. I've tried those store bought ant poison pellets, and it seemed to have no impact. I've tried making some sugar water and borax solution and it did attract a bunch of ants to the baits, but it seemed to only get half the ants. So half the area is clear of ants (for now) but there is another stream of ants like a metre away that was unaffected.

If they are in the kitchen: Don't leave anything food related in the house! Don't leave the dishes etc.

Making sure your home is clean and aerosol spray will do the trick .bonus point try to locate their nest and destroy it

The home itself is okay for now, everything is definitely clean inside. Just worried that with so many outside, eventually they'll venture inside looking for the smallest bits of food.

I own a remote house in an olive grove with a lot of mice and rats, so I am using rodent baits. I noticed last summer that ants like it and disappeared from house. Just give it a try.

The ants that you see are the scouts, and there is no point killing them. They will just send more. As somebody has suggested, put stuff down like vinegar or paraffin. They will go back and tell the others that it's not a nice place to visit.

The pellets you buy from the store typically takes over a week to work because they need to take it back to the nest and there are thousands of them in a nest.

Some things I've found to work:
  • Spraying the path they use so they lose their way
  • Spraying the entrance they use into your home from outside
  • Leaving the dead ones you killed behind to warn them off

Even if he do anything like that stillw ants will find ways to look for their foods, what you need to do is follow the track and get into the Queen thats the only chance to escape from the misery, you must Dig deeper to get and kill the Queen so they will gone forever,i did that once but i am going to tele you that its not easy ,or better call the pest control to do the job

I tried powdered sugar with powdered rat poison mixed in. That didn't work.

So, I simply got rid of the ncles, and the ants followed... you know, aunts uncles. ;D

What works for me are those little ant traps you get at many department stores in the cleaning or hardware sections.

I tried sugar and old candies soaked with boric acid as this article (https://pestcontrolhacks.com/get-rid-of-termites/) says. It worked really well, ants brought the bait into the nest and it eventually killed the queen as well as the other insects. Did extra cleaning with vinegar after that, just to be sure.
Totally agreed on this though i never had a chance of trying this borax and candy combination but the thing is,in every ants colony theres a queen and the whole group will die if the queen died so better try this soon to prevent them all,and also i will do my own trial lol

Well if the situation isn't that bad, may be you should just keep your kitchen clean so ants won't go around. Or you could try a mix of sugar and borax to kill off those nasty ants. You can also use citrus fruits especially lemon as a cleaning solution. But if you want to beat them like an hunter, follow their tracks towards the nest then try every mixed solution that internet offers to beat the colony especially the queen ant. Now it sounds like an adventure in an online game (https://to.crwd.cr/cm). But I recommend that you shouldn't often use insecticides or pesticides because if you didn't beat them at first use, they will get used to the chemicals.

In my house I had this problem, and I did not realize, they attacked me at night while I slept, and I got up at 2:40 am with all the sleep and with bites, the best thing that occurred to me was to look for Kerosene and throw them out, they were exterminated at once, another option if you do not have Kerosene can be gasoline, because they are very strong liquids that can not tolerate them and do not get close there.

Getting rid of ants is so easy. You just need a powder to do so. Try to use powder in the area where you mostly see your ants are climbing.

There is a reason why ants are visiting you house and that's because you have food left behind and they are more than happy to take it. Make sure to keep everything very clean, not leave any trash behind or where they could reach it and you should be fine. If you still have a problem with them the best thing to do is call a specialized company to take care of this, the sooner the better.

I had ants in my flat once. No powder, rat poison and other stuff that can be bought in a local shows helped me.
To get rid of them I have call a guy from local advertisement site. He sprayed all the floor, furniture with Citrometrin. Not sure that you can buy that on your own, but I advice looking for a service that can spray your flat with that.

He spent about 15min spraying 3 bedrom flat, then I opened all the windows for 2 hours. After that I havent seen ants since 2017.

I've googled a bit. Here is the hint (https://en.bestinsectkiller.com/professional-remedy-for-bedbugs-tetriks-price-instructions-for-use-for-self-disinsection-of-premises-844185) link if you want to know more about this insecticide.

Special service - right decision. Because they have a licence to buy strong and toxic chemicals. And since it toxic/poison, I'd better do the job with someone hands  :D

actually all you need to do is find the Queen ant because she is the reason why those army ants are busy providing for her foods and security.

or better find exterminator because that is their expertise ,i remember when i was young my grand father use to bring me hunting the queen ants and twice that we successfully find them.

Chemical sprays do much better work than just water and sugar.
The problem is that they are chemically created. Try keep your house clean from dirty dishes and scrambles on the carpet or the floor.

The best way to get rid of ants is to sprinkle the yellow powder on the grill or in the shop wherever the ants are applied You will benefit greatly from it There will not be an ant and everything will be gone Ispre will do much better than this.

In my opinion hot water and oil are more beneficial than yellow powder and soap soaked water if the ants do not come back and destroy their nest once. At present the prevalence of ants is high during the summer.

I usually go the old school way when dealing with ants. I burn a paper and slowly lit them up making sure they're all gone. We have kids in the house and cannot let ants just roam around anywhere.

Municipality Approved Pest Control Company

Pests invade homes that are unhygienic and filled with an untidy collection of things. This helps them in finding an easy place to hide and breed. They will look for a place that is nearest to the kitchen as it becomes easy to find left over food. They will also spread bacteria and pathogens at the food preparation area leaving threads that can contaminate the food.

If you spot any pest crawling around your home. Contact Ensure, they are the leading Dubai Municipality pest control (https://ensureuae.com/pest-control-dubai/) company with experienced pest control technicians to offer you a quality service in and around your home. All the products used for the treatment are non-toxic, making it safe to use around your home.

Some brands that produce sprays for ants are Raid, Baygon. You will see results from the first  minute you apply that to the ants and the area that they are passing by.

I have a cheap solution to this issue, just use petrol in the place of other chemicals and the ants will never come into that place again but remember you should take proper security measures to you before spraying the petrol it can cause respiratory issues if you mishandle it.

I do not know where you are located but here in our country we easily find an insecticide powder and every household usually has that here, just sprinkle that in the corners and all ants will be gone.
Secondly, keep your home clean and dry and make sure no food or sugary stuff is found in your home open even in dust bin and you will see reduction in ants.

Have the same problem here. I'm now using a insecticide spray to get rid of ants. It was quite effective but the disadvantage is I can't spray it into utensils and areas near foods. So better to make sure that you don't left any food or any leftovers since it can attract ants. Also, clean your kitchen frequently and organize and store your foods properly and neatly.

Ants are a big problem in every home usually if there is any sweet food on the floor the ants are more likely to come. Lemon citric acid is capable of killing ants the ants sprinkle lemon juice on the places you see. If you want you can mix water with lemon juice and keep it in a spray bottle. If you see ants you can spray even if you put the lemon peel on the sides of the biscuit tin it is possible to avoid the ants.

To remove ants, bai must first spray low-toxicity, long after-effect period, and low-smelling contact insecticides in places where they often enter, such as wall gaps, furniture gaps, refrigerator compressors, and pools. Side gaps, heating pipes and wall contact, wire and wall contact, etc. The degree of aggregation is highest in the cabinet. Next, put the poisonous bait in a medicine bottle cap or a small plastic box, and place it in a place where the ants often move, four or five piles per room. In order to avoid future troubles, the poison bait should be sprayed enough at a time, usually after 7-10 days, it will be effective.

While in school doing one of our industrial courses, we practiced heliciculture (Snail farming) and ants were one of our problem of which we controlled by using condemned oil or should i say used engine oil to set up a perimeter and it worked to a large extent. You could try that too but, don't forget they are a vital part of the ecosystem and so, controlling is better than fatality.

Compared with other methods of killing ants, there is a way that is easier and simpler. As long as you accurately find the path of the ants in the room, spray the anti-ant potion, and kill all the ants in the house through infection.

The key to preventing pests is to keep the room clean. Ants will protect its territory and look for food everywhere. They will find a route based on the breath of the surrounding food. Therefore, keep the food sealed, the floor clean, and all surfaces clean.

Cleanliness is the key and based on that only ants and other insects etc do come. So rightly said about keeping our surroundings clean and it has good vibes when things are tidy and properly organized. Pest control once a while is also a good idea to ensure that proper care is taken and problems are fixed.

Sip some salt on their ways into tbe house

Clean more often and look for food or something under the shelfs and so on.

I discovered a little trick, I had a similar situation like you. If you catch (scoop up) some of the ants that are far from the borax and dump them on there to walk around on it, them will get the smell/taste on them, and bring other ants there too. It's worth a try, let me know if it works for you.

Let's face it ants are such a big problem for humanity. I really don't understand their meaning in nature, but I can't deal with that, and it makes me so sad bc I really want to get rid of them forever, like mosquitoes. They are my second headache! I have a big yard, and I like it, but not in the summertime when many mosquitoes are disturbing my silence. I didn't know how to make them leave my house for a long time when I accidentally found out about mosquito pest control services (https://www.mrmr.biz/mr-mr-mosquito-services/). I thought I was blessed by God when he gave me such a perfect solution.

I think they are wonderful creatures and need to be understood. Once you understand that part of their job is to keep the environment in order by clearing the environment off dead insects, food particles etc you will begin to see them as friends that don't need to be slaughtered mercilessly with insecticide and other harmful substances.

I actually let them be most times to help me clear the food particles and dead insects I missed while cleaning the house. Once they start becoming a problem, I simply look for their holes and get them sealed with candle wax... Or I make the house free off their foods.

Sometimes I let them bite me when I'm not feeling very well. It tend to make me recover or feel better

Tinners used on wood also helps in driving ants away. Try  identify their holes and pour the chemical there.

In my case I just found where the ant hive was, and I put appropriate poison on top of it. It destroyed the whole hive within an hour or two. I have not had any problem with ants since. I actually felt kind of sorry for the poor creatures, but I didn't invite them in.

Ants can really be a serious problem. One time my sister had an ant infestation and it got seriously out of hand. The ants must have built their colony in the walls of her old house because it seriously looked like thousands and thousands of them were living in the house.
I hear they like warm and moist spaces and that’s why they are attracted to the walls. Eventually she had to hire a specialist to apply professional grade insecticide to make sure they didn’t come back.

there are a lot of ants that enter my house, if there is sweet food. and the ant hides when there is no sweet food.

I think ants are different so the way to get rid of them must also be different.

but to be honest my father used to spray it with something and all the ants died, but I forgot what my father sprayed on the ants..😅

We used to sprinkle salt around the place where they emerge/disappear, but can't remember if that helped or not.

You can get rid of ants in this way:

1. White vinegar
2. Borax
3. Pepper
4. Flush with hot water
5. Lime
6. Cucumber
7. Special pesticides
8. Salt

I've honestly never shooed away ants, but at least I just know what will drive them away. Hope it is useful.

My house was built on ground that was used for farming. We get a lot of ants every summer, flying ants too, they are so annoying. Nothing seems to work, I have tried the powder you can buy which doesn’t have a great effect. I even boil the kettle & pour boiling water down the holes they surface from. Nothing ever seems to totally rid my land of them.

Hello)) Try the following ways :

1. Keep food in airtight containers or the refrigerator.
2. Seal any cracks or crevices around the house where ants can enter.
3. Wipe up food and drink spills to avoid attracting the ants.
4. Use baits and traps to lure the ants away.
5. Use a shop-bought insecticide spray or make a natural solution using vinegar, water, and dish soap.
6. Boil water and pour it directly on ant hills.
7. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the house.
8. Try natural repellents such as peppermint oil, cinnamon, or citrus peels.
9. Use boric acid as a natural ant killer.
10. Plant mint or lavender around the house to repel the ants.

Last night was eating apple, under 5 minutes at least 50 of them gathered around my plate, they actually climb me every day and night, Can't find their nest, too many heavy objects in the room and I had my disc removed partially, so not worth it trying to move heavy stuff, but I do use something called ant chalk, it has temporary effects but it's better than nothing. You just need to use it once a week.

maybe the ants are attracted to the sweet treats you have. So, it's better for your sweet food to be stored as best as possible so that the ants don't come back. in my house there are also often ants, but not too many.

There are a few things you can try to get rid of ants:

1. Reduce any available food sources. Make sure to keep all food in sealed containers and wipe down countertops to remove any crumbs.

2. Plug up any potential entry points with caulk or sealant. This will help prevent the ants from entering your home.

3. Place ant bait around the perimeter of your home, windowsills, and anywhere else that you have seen ants. Ant bait works by bringing the poison back to the nest, which will effectively eliminate all of the ants.

4. Use an insecticidal spray around any entryways and other areas where the ants may be gathering. This will kill them on contact and will help to keep them away.

5. Make use of natural repellents like peppermint oil, citrus peels, bay leaves, and cloves. You can mix these ingredients into a spray bottle and spritz around the areas where you have seen ants. The strong smell of these natural ingredients will help to keep the ants away.

A:

You can use a vacuum cleaner This is a good idea if you have a lot of ants in the house.
Alternatively, you can use a pest control sprayer to remove the ants from the house.

in india we try this method:

we sprinkle flour near the gate of the house or anywhere where the ants are coming from, then they eat or carry the flour and goes to their home or whatever. it works most of the time without harming the ants.
