As at 16th December, 2017 a unit of bitcoin was worth an equivalent of $16,600.00 ( source Bloomberg 2018).

Some days later, Bitcoin’s price peaked to $19,511, before it began an epic slippery slope movement that would see the original crypto currency lose approximately 82 percent of it is value. As i write the value of bitcoin is averaging $4,000.

Various analysts have argued that the initial drastic rise in its price are due to several factors ranging from irrational optimism; aggregate market irrationality; cynical speculation, poorly informed investors among others.

In all honesty don't you think investing in stocks now makes better business sense than investing in bitcoin?

Those who think that investing in stock market is now better, are those who believed that investing in bitcoin was better than stock market when the price was 19000 dollar.

comparing bitcoin now to a specific date of KNOWN temporary speculation (the bubble period)
is like comparing someone buying a house in the 1990's but only using the a valuation of peak value of exact day/month of lets say 10 years ago.

however comparing today vs 2 years ago today, 3 years ago today, 4 years ago today and so on. bitcoin is still higher and better.

Not surprise seeing this thread. The downfall of great man gives opportunity for the lesser ones to showcase their manhood. Since bitcoin is down does not give stock market shoulders over bitcoin. EVen in our weakest moment as this time I will still go for bitcoin.

when some scream and cry the price has dropped. others hear the words "discount"

just get ready folks. when the hashrate starts climbing once ASICS start getting delivered over christmas.
the "whats the cheapest way to obtain bitcoin" dynamic will play out and we will start to see price supports grow.

I would rather leave my investment in the shrinking bitcoin prices than in so called  stock market. Bitcoin offers me several opportunity as compareed to stock whatever. THings will surely and soon change and am sure people will never compare stock market to bitcoin. Even as atnow bitcoin is quite better investment to stock market.

Investing in bitcoin must be a long term investment not like everytime the price go up you will sell your bitcoin, if you cant afford to lose what you invest on bitcoin then  it is your fault investment in bitcoin and stock market has huge difference but they both have risk.

i don't really follow stocks market that much, specially the foreign ones but with a little search you can see people talking about how it is also crashing these days. so if your ONLY reason for not investing in bitcoin is because it has crashed then you should also not invest in stocks since they have also crashed!

and you seem to be forgetting that in 2 years bitcoin price has increased 3 times even after this gigantic drop!

in stock investments only get a minimal profit but have a small risk, if investment in other bitcoin / crypto can generate up to 10 x profit but has a high risk, you only have choices where you have to invest now, I personally better invest in bitcoin, this more promising to be better in the future

as a trader you do not need the market to go up to make profit. nowadays there are lots of ways for making profit in a bear market while prices are falling. so you can't say entering stocks market is better than bitcoin or worse only based on how much it dropped!

additionally as a trader you need experience to be able to make profit. this means that it doesn't matter which market you choose, as long as you are a newbie in either one of them, you will lose money.

The Stock markets are very inflated and overdue for a massive correction. Many people agree that the stock market is saturated and that 2019 will be a very difficult year for most people that owns stocks.  ::) ???

Bitcoin already had it's correction phase and will soon recover from that, so currently investments in Bitcoin makes a lot more sense, since the price is low enough for more people to start investing in Bitcoin.  8) <Buy Low / Sell High>

that is a very unfair comparison, unfair to stocks of course because when it comes to profitability you can not compete with a new up and coming technology like bitcoin that has huge growths each turn like last year and still has a lot of potential to grow a lot more. of course that comes with higher risk but the reward is high enough to justify taking the risks involved.

Don't compare Stock Market to Cryptocurrency because Crypto is more volatile compare to Stocks but more profitable. Yeah you can say now that its better because of the recent crash happened to Bitcoin but when the price increases again, you will reverse what you have said right now. Just invest in Bitcoin now that it is undervalued :).

Many people have different aspect in investment so some people will say stock market is good investment and some people will say that bitcoin is better than stock market. But, it will depend to the people who will conduct investment. And take note it will depend to the people what kind of investment will he/she choose.

I completely disagree here. The stock market is at a point where it is on the verge of complete collapse and is due a crash. I think the complete opposite. People should be selling a good position of their stocks before it crashes and maybe putting it into Crypto :)

Nah, even professional stock traders see some crash looming for the stock markets, so I don't think buying in at high prices on the stock markets is wiser than buying bitcoin now. With years of greens and continuous rises, somehow the prices for stocks should fall, and that is what people are already anticipating come 2020. Also, just because bitcoin's price is in a flop doesn't mean that it is not wise to invest on it. Actually, it's better to invest and hold bitcoin right now knowing that a serious correction already happened, and we all know historically that it follows a new ATH after the said huge crash.

I do not think so. The crypto money sector always has a potential of 10x-100x and even 1000X. But the stock market will make such a rise so difficult. Even almost impossible. But we all respect your call about investment.

Bitcoin is not only about investing, there are many more things that are actually being developed on Blockchain and blockchain is the future, investment in stock exchange and investment in bitcoin are two different things

That totally depends on the definition of better here if better means safer then of course it is, until this moment investing in Bitcoin is still profitable, people just think that all investors were holding Bitcoin before it collapsed, did anyone ever thought that there is a lot of investors collected profit on top and might be preparing to go in again! You can't tell those investors that there investing was bad because they already x4 their investment and waiting to make more.

Investing in Bitcoin is riskier but much more profitable while investing in stock is safer and much less profitable. See what fits you best and do it.

it is not only about the size of the rise though.
when you want to decide in which you invest you should also decide how much risk you are willing to take.
altcoins that have 1000x pumps are super risky. it is always like that, big reward is only found in high risk assets and in case of altcoins the risks are too huge.
not to mention that most of them lose all that rise as simple as they have gained it. many of them are now back to where they started.
with bitcoin at least after the drop price is still 280% higher than before it started rising.

I don't want to compare between bitcoin and stock, but I prefer to choose bitcoin. In the first time I know the investment in stock, I think I get a little bit scary about to invest in stock because I don't know anything about stock and besides that, I think it's too complicated for me to understand. Investing in stock means we should have a good resource about what is going on in the market which I cannot find until now, maybe I need to learn more about the stock. But investing in bitcoin, it's easy for me, and I don't always have to check the market, and I can let it happen like it's ways.

Bitcoin and stock market are different market.in response to this,stock market has been in market for many years ego,and some of the products there have reached a reasonable marketcap.Moreover,stock market was subjected to an intense marketcap for many years until a regulation was made to ensure some irregularities on its market is reduced to an extent of which some defaulters are fined whenever they pose threat to others by illegally moving the market to their favour.
Now,bitcoin is a market that is still early and so many things need to be considered before considering making bitcoin market to be at par with stock market.on the other hand, bitcoin market has not hit a trillion dollar market cap ,and it has not been fully adopted by masses ,big firms and big industries. So,bitcoin may surpass stock market interms of market capitalization once the purpose of establishing bitcoin is fulfilled.In view to this, it is too early to start comparing both bitcoin and stock market.

Compared to last year, yes, but this time it is better to be back to stock market (if you try it earlier than bitcoin). For those who doesn't try yet, it is better to try since the market of cryptocurrency sucks and it is better to find an alternative way for better profit.

It is better to switch to stocks when the crypto market is at it's peak and on the verge of plummeting. This of course is impossible to predict and timing is everything for traders

It seems that still investment on Bitcoin is a great decision. Because after some days price will be increasing rapidly. But we have to hold it for long term. Then we will be able to cut a good profit from the Bitcoin.

When You talking about the long term Potential , Investing in Bitcoin is way more effective than investing in stocks . Stock market is already a pretty expanded market. But for Bitcoin even a 1 Trillion USD from here is around 1300% increase from the current price. It's tough to  Investors achieve that kind of Profits from any stock.

yes because the price and luck are good and do not lose and the work is easy to live just look at the graph and I think there is a truth in stock and bitcoin investors but this bitcoin will be our future asset we must maintain

Stock market is a lot safer than crypto though. You are investing in companies that already have use cases.

Never tried to invest in Stock Market but i think it is not easy as bitcoin does. That is why in my opinion i still prefer to invest on bitcoin. And we all know if bitcoin price is predictable and easy to manage.

Investing in bitcoin now in a falling market is risky, but if you compare bitcoin and shares on the stock exchange, bitcoin is a reliable investment .

Do not compare these two markets - they are completely different from each other! The stock market is much older and prices there have a certain value based on the financial position of a particular company. Crypto currency is not tied to firms - its price is formed only because of the demand for it and a certain HYIP that has passed to date. We see the result on the chart.
Is it safer to invest in stocks-we can say that Yes there are lower risks, but if you want stability then do not come to this market crypto!

At the moment, stocks are also not very good for investment. The stock market started falling a couple of months ago. The reason is the drop in shares of FAANG. Now is not the time to invest in stocks.

Although theres a good chance day traders could make slight gains in the Stock market regardless of the upcoming crash, I strongly disagree with the stock market being the place to go right now. From what I have seen, 2019/2020 could potentially be a bloodbath in the stockmarket which has been slowly regaining every year since the 2008 crash basically. With Crypto already through the vast majority of the dip (apparently), this would be the PERFECT time in my eyes to cash in on a slice of my Stock Portfolio and invest in into my Crypto Portfolio. Then after 2019 when (hopefully) we see recovery in Crypto and possibly a dip in Stocks, you could change to sell and reinvest into stockms again if you wish so. This is my personal insight and investment strategy going into 2019 good luck :)

stock value is severely damaged just by existance of crypto, but bitcoin also very risky. to hold in long term.

I prefer to invest in Bitcoin because for me Bitcoin has a very good level of flexibility. The ease of investing becomes something that is so fun and at the same time provides many opportunities for profit. In my opinion this is the best and there are many people who have gotten an increasing economic level after they got to know Bitcoin.

for safety yes stock trading and investing is more safe than the bitcoin, because they have the limit, but for the best trading and investment i think bitcoin still the best

Well as long as you can hold on your stocks for so long then its a safe bet against crypto. But what makes crypto more rewarding in the end specially if you know what you're doing is its volatility. Others says its a disadvantage but if you know how to play around with its fragile and price swings, I would say that crypto is much better than stock by a long mile.

its rather to choose bitcoin than stock market because its hard to do investing in stock market and most of the people who are in stock market are experts. As a cryptocurrency trader its hard to conduct investment in stock market so simply to say its better to conduct investment in bitcoin than stock market.

Stock market exchange is way better than bitcoin or cryptocurrency because of its security features among the traders compared to bitcoin where it is not yet legally adapted to most of the countries around the world. And this is where the problem will going to start if you invest in bitcoin because there are lots of scam reports among other people who are in bitcoin investment.

Yes today the stock market investments are better than the bitcoin right but it just for today! If you say it is safer i would agree with you on this. But if you remember last year lots of people made more than %100 profit in weeks with cryptocurrency. Yes price went down too much but we had to chance to make good fortune. In stock market you wouldn't have this opportunities. So bitcoin and crypto market would beat stock markets in every condition.

I think that depends on the conditions, bitcoin is currently experiencing setbacks and making them think in worries, and because of that they consider investment in the stock market much better than bitcoin.

In terms of security we can really say that investing in stock market is great. There is no better market simply because there is still a risk on your investment and your profit is still not guaranteed, and only base on your skills and market situation.

If you want to have more source of income, do invest on both market. No matter what market you are investing if you don’t know how to trade/invest it is still useless. Start on educating yourself because this is the only way to make a successful investment.

I believe that bitcoin would still be very much around judging from the sampled opinions; bitcoin though has more risks is yet more profitable compared to investments made in stocks.

If you are afraid with the high fluctuations of bitcoin then you can play safe with stock, I dont see people talking about this when bitcoin price keep on getting up, investing in crypto and stock is a different things, bitcoin got high risk with high reward and it is a decentralised investment, stock is more predictable, price is not the only factor why people decided to invest in bitcoun

I seriously don’t think there is a stock you can play safe with right now. Even the Lifestretegy funds etc for minimal risk. I really think by 2020 there will be a massive dip in the stock market and property market. Especially in the UK, ever since 2008 the price of stocks and housing has just went up year by year.

Not to mention over in America there is talks that the Federal Reserve are going to increase rates that would obviously have devastating affect to these countries that are trillions in debt.

I think its not true that investing on stock market is better than investing on bitcoin. RIght now Dow Jones Index already drop and cryptocurrency market already increasing. Bitcoin is long term investment like stock market and like others investment, stocks market have a risk too

You may need to realize that this equally affects the stock market and performance of major stocks. It does not imply that stock market is going to crash.

Now the cryptocurrency market is experiencing so much price falldown , the investments in the stock market is now much better than crypto currency ,this is because the bear market season is atill running worst for cryptocurrency, but still this is not permanent ,for surely it will go up and rise again.

there are many opinions that compare bitcoin and stock trading, but I think this is a choice. and I have to stay with bitcoin.
Bitcoin is the currency that will be adopted by all countries, only the time is not for now

what aspect is better? when speaking of guaranteed stability in market prices, obviously stocks are the best choice, because the shares are clearly regulated by the government. but are stocks able to provide significant profits in the near future? not necessarily, especially for investors with small capital, the benefits of investing in new shares they can get in a fairly long period of time. while the bitcoin market appears as an alternative choice, that investing and investing in capital do not need to be bound and under the shadow of the government, independence, that's what bitcoin offers. Small investors tend to be quite easy to get profits in the near future, this is also a good choice.

I still think an investment in bitcoin or crypto is better than an investment at a stock exchange, but everyone has to decide for themselves. I have believed for a long time that crypto will prevail and therefore I invest in this area and nowhere else. So far this was also the right decision for me and it will probably also be in the future. But as I said, it's certainly different for every person and everyone should decide for themselves which market is the right one.  ;)

We have Ethereum network and other smart contract solutions that want to allow the entire world to invest in companies/projects one day. Is this a good investment today? Probably not. Is it the future of how companies and investors will want to transact? Most likely.

Nobody wants to pay a broker to buy stocks for them and commissions just to invest in companies that may or may not be "good buys." The manipulation of "normal" stock markets is well known, once some regulatory requirements play out over the next 10 years for investing through smart contracts, it's over. There is just no reason to overpay intermediaries when making investments. Plus you can invest globally with every country, making a larger market for everyone. The only "argument" is manipulation and that only needs to be in line with todays current markets.
