So I'm interested if people use VPNs and if so, which ones. Last week I decided that I need to get one. Did some research and right now I'm thinking between Surfshark, Vypr, TunnelBear. I'm particularly interested in surfshark more as it seems there's a lot of positive vibe around them on the web.

Basic free ones like hotspotshield I use if i'm in an emergency or need one to unblock content with filters on.

For a continous use I'd reccomend A VPN service which gives you unlimited connections such as : https://windscribe.com/ !

I don't use a VPN as, under UK law you can be asked to decrypt the VPN data if the government suspects you. If you don't encrypt you get 2 years in jail or 5 years if you're suspected of child pornography. Therefore, why using a VPN?

I have been using PureVPN for almost a couple years. It is pretty a decent software, but it can be buggy sometimes. Plus, it is one of the most affordable paid VPN services out there. In fact, they do accept cryptos as a payment ;)

Sometimes I use VPN when I need to. Usually, when I'm traveling, because in some countries website like Reddit is unavailable.

Wow, didn't know that. Only heard something about China banning FB, Wiki, Google. Good to know beforehand and to be prepared for this inconvenience.

For what purposes You need VPN? VPN is like screwdriver - for different purposes there is different recommendations

Haha, love the comparison. As mentioned before I already bought a provider called Surfshark. So far I'm really happy with their service. I use it mostly for streaming services, torrenting and general security.

I don't use VPN full-time, I only do access some restricted websites.

Personally, the price was lower than I expected to spend on a VPN provider, So the $25 donation that I did didn't feel that high. It's amazing that they are matching every donation!

It shouldn't be that hard to install a VPN.

I recommend HOTSPOT SHIELD or else looking for SoftEther VPN Client Manager, they are very reliable VPN and whenever I want I use them with enough success.

I am using it before and there are some free VPN's that are working but limited time only, there are lots of VPN that needs to be paid for us to use it eternity. LOL. They say that ExpressVPN is good but needs to be paid for us to continue using it.

Me and my husband try to use VPN before but it's not working properly so we both decided to delete it instead.

My country banned some sites luckily I know that VPN can be used to gain access to those restricted sites.

I am not using VPN too often because my internet is secured always but if any of the website not accessible I will use free VPN from chrome if it is pc or will use turbo VPN from my android.

Yes i have used vpn before , when tge internet connection here in our country have only limited mb to use. I used vpn to bypass the limit of mb that is used in a day because of the limited browsing and surfing mb's of our internet it is not satisfy my connection , and i love to downloads music and videos in some social sites , abd using vpn is the only way to make successfull download without any limit.

I use VPN on mobile. I use a mobile app called turbo VPN, it provide free VPN of some countries. If ypu want a specific location VPN, then buy a premium version of it. It is easy to use and provide stable and high speed connection. In India, After banning many porn sites by govt. VPN services are getting quite common among youngsters. Even VPN help you to access sites like torrent and download movies, web series and music videos etc. You may also use VPN on PC's but I personally use it on Mobile.

Very often I use VPN because our government forces me to do it. They are constantly blocking something so that we can not learn some information for themselves, but what's the point?

There is a certain site that is blocked by my ISP so the only solution is to use a VPN to bypass the block and eventually visit the site. VPN has a lot of good us to me since most of the site that I visit was blocked.

I haven't tried any of the three VPNs you have mentioned. I am using used ExpressVPN and Ivacy VPN. Both are good, if you can afford ExpressVPN go for it otherwise Ivacy is the best in my experience.

VPN is good for privacy but not for all the time because some of the websites don't allow to use VPN even they can block your account for using the VPN. However, You didn't say what kind of VPN you are talking about! I mean free or paid? if you are talking about both maybe Hostspotsheild could be one of the VPNs.

I currently do not use it, but I do run it when playing some games or using blocked programs. I buy it for a month, and sometimes use programs but it is less useful

You loose speed if you are using free or cheap VPN. But If you use top VPN like Express VPN, you will barely notice it. I am using it for 4k Netflix and Amazon streams without any problems.
Invest some money in top VPN and you won't be disappointed.

If the governement want to know what you do he can easily by asking to the VPN provider to give them logs. Don't tell me "some vpn don't keep logs" it's bullshit. They all need logs for security reason and anyway they government can seize the vpn and listen at what you do. In commercial VPN like torguard.

Hey! Many of you won't be aware of how to check if your VPN is leaking or not. Just perform the test on the trial:
1) Find your Public IP Address (https://www.purevpn.com/what-is-my-ip) and Note it down
2) Connect the VPN
3) Repeat the step 1 again
Note: Now check if the IP Address before and after VPN connection is same then it means your VPN is leaking.
4) Get rid of it ASAP. :P

Depends, yes. Using free version from ProtonVPN fits all my needs.

I use NordVPN and am very happy with it. I've tried other VPNs in the past, but Nord seems to be the best and most advanced one so far.

Well before i am using vpn because it is trending in my work but i stop using it because i prefer to used wifi rather than vpn, i think using wifi is more better and safer, vpn is okay to used but many people nowadays is getting angry when you are a user of vpn.

What are you talking about, WiFi is not substitute for VPN or vice versa. Somehow i have a feeling that you don't know what VPN actually is.

I think VPN are sort of a double edged Sword. I personally feel pretty safe while using VPN while I am surfing around the web especially when I am using forum and other usual sites. But I am pretty afraid of using VPN when it comes to using my wallets and exchanges. Generally exchanges don't like people using VPN and can block accounts suspecting intrusion and moreover VPN does gets all the data we surf around the web So I never think it's a wise option to do so.
VPN is just a virtual private network which allows you to use their IP address by using a proxy on your original IP address it's nowhere a substitute of Wifi I don't understand why have you posted this. ;D

I use "Setup Vpn" extension for chrome, it's a good browser add-on that I use when I want to hide or use some sites that don't support my country, I also use "Hotspot Shield" and "ExpressVPN" If you need privacy in browsing and speed in downloads, these programs will help you in this, There are a lot of VPN programs, but what I have mentioned is the best in my experience for them.

Sometimes I use it when I can't access some sites. I use mostly Windscribe because it's free, but it only gives you 10 gb per month so.. not for watching movies

I think in this age of tracking and data collection, it is best to always use a VPN and kind of make it essential, same as getting a license for your AV software.

Well if you want a cheap and transparent VPN, and by transparent i mean blockchain based, i'd go no further than Orchid.

I mainly use free VPN services (for minor issues like when purchasing online) like Windscribe, Opera browser's built-in VPN, and some of those free VPN for mobile devices that could fairly help with this type of small tasks. But these are sometimes unreliable and more often than not have a capped data limit, of course.

Unfortunately, the free VPN's aren't strong enough for Netflix and I'm alright with purchasing, but I'd rather be on the safe side before I put money on premium VPN then found out later that it isn't strong enough to watch Netflix from other geo-locations.

I've been using vpn for almost 3 months in my online job. Vpn is very  important to my work to lessen the waiting time to all my social media postings.

I don't do anything illegal, but turn it on and open DuckDuckGo when I don't want to be tracked. Also, a few foreign websites are blocked in my country and some Internet providers don't allow you to reach them too, so VPN is essential.
That's why I'm using Opera, as VPN is built-in. For my phone, VPN Proxy Master is such a nice app.

I would say that use around 70% of my time on the internet a VPN. It's a great tool and there are plenty of free options. I would recommend VPN to anyone, especially if you want to access informations from other countries that normally would be locked due to regional restricitons.

I do. As a Blogger, often i need to visit different website and some of them are blocked from my country. So i need vpn. generally do research before publish any article. I need more information so that i could add those information in my article and make it a better one. I used vpns for a long time, in the beginning I just used free browser plug ins to have a bit more privacy. But some websites detect these apps and don't allow me to access their websites, similar to ad blockers. A few months back I switched to nord vpn after getting a cheap offer from YouTube. I can definitely recommend vpns to anybody.

I usually use a tor browser if I need to bypass a blocked browser, and to maintain anonymity I think vpn not so much does, most of them do not provide anonymity to their users

I use NordVPN and ExpressVPN. Many services are banning VPN users and I haven't found one that is able to unblock every single website that I use. Recently Netflix has not worked well with Nord so I use ExpressVPN for this reason. I also use a VPN for watching sporting events. I don't know how strict ISP's are with people who watch pirated streams but it is always a good idea to take precautions.

I do use Forti and azure VPN, for work purposes. But I haven't tried VPN for personal use.

In case you are looking for a good VPN, go with Express VPN or Proton VPN. I personally use Proton, it's a Swiss company, which is not obligated to give up personal information to the government.

Yeah i use VPN in my gaming in the past specially when i was in some areas when Wifi is not that good in signal.

Some VPN that i have is really amazing in spots where wifi is hard to connect.

VPN gives better internet connectivity? AFAIK it has nothing to do with the speed of data transfer,just going to connect to different server which you desired to choose for bypassing website restrictions on certain locations.

I use VPN very often Well, it’s not about my inability to access certain Internet resources, but I mostly do it because I am greatly concerned about my privacy. For the last time, I have seen many signs that my privacy is violated on a regular basis. Now not only high tech giants, but also nearly every website may spy on you. I can’t say that I have peace of mind each time I use VPN, but at least I feel less nervous. Perhaps, I have a sort of phobia and it needs to be cured, but I’m already got used to VPN.

I have started to use it more when IM accessing sites  with Bitcoin or money are involved.  But I am also using it on my mobile if I am searching oinline.

I used Hotspot Shield and ZenMate once for some live broadcasts when I had problems on watching them. But I don't need any of them for now. I just use Google DNS for some websites. Because sometimes I find it really weird that I can't get access to the websites I should be able to normally.

I agree, protect ourselfs became very important over the last few years. I found myself being targeted with some DDOS attacks last year so I couldn't really go online anymore without using a VPN. Without that protection it is very easy for others to find our IP adresses and do us harm.

Yes, sometimes I use vpn because I am unable to access some sites without vpn. These are usually free VPNs, because I don't want to spend money on it.

Yes because of the games that I play sometimes I need to use it in order to play smoothly.
But if I wouldn't need it for my games I wouldn't really use VPN.

There are a lot of free VPNs out there which makes it's much more easy to circumvent country restrictions. I am mostly using VPNs to protect my Internet access. There are a lot of scammers on the Internet so we need to be extra careful. Especially with online banking, investing and crypto trading.

Personally, I would never use a free VPN for something as important as banking or crypto trading. How can you even be sure that someone will not monitor your traffic on such a service? I'm sure I wouldn't call that extra careful... But that's just me.

Tunnelbear, at least when I used it, had strict data caps. Now, with them being owned by McAfee, their privacy practices are going to be spotty at best. I personally use ProtonVPN now, as it has a proven track record and has some free features. The free version is good, but has some shortcomings if you want content in a specific location or "Want to download Linux ISOs" over BitTorrent. Keep in mind that when you pay for a VPN, not only can it be a waste of money if secure and free platforms already exist, but it can also be eroding your privacy. A credit card number, just like an IP address, can tell a lot about you, especially coupled with a billing address and name.

I can definitely recommend vpn for more privacy when visiting web pages ! I do it myself and I think I do it quite successfully.

For 99% of my web surfing, I do not use a VPN. There is some testing I do with various websites that requires me to use a VPN sometimes.

I don't used VPN because to me is a scam and a way to hacked into your privacy, if you are not careful the VPN provider can see and mess with all your traffic.
VPNs don't inherently protect your privacy or give you anonymity. VPNs simply divert all of your internet traffic from going to your internet provider's systems into the VPN provider's systems instead.
I hope this can be a lesson to people using it.

Why not? You can use VPN easily browse the web pages you want to know when you are on another international business trip. As long as the use is not in the law, I support the use of VPN.
