The thought of being able to sit in one's own house in one's own pajamas while making thousands (and sometimes even millions) of dollars in just a few seconds with just a few keystrokes and mouse clicks is, I have to admit, very, very tempting.

Whenever I hear news of a cryptocurrency exchange or business being hacked and losing coins, I feel bad for them yes but I also feel intense jealousy. I feel jealous because I am not the hacker. I wish I could do what they can do.

The beautiful thing about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is that they are decentralized and no central authority can take your wealth away from you. A passphrase consisting of 12 normal English words could hold millions of dollars in Bitcoin but is impossible to brute force with even the fastest supercomputers. The key to the wallet is in your head. Bitcoin is not like cash sitting in a bank's vault or numbers in a bank's database. And if one takes certain precautions, then any coins can be made almost untraceable (although this takes time).

I see parallels with the Harry Potter novels. Those Bitcoin hackers have chosen to join the "dark side" of our society and this is analogous to the wizards who decided to join the ranks of Voldemort's army. But while Voldemort's army was defeated in the end of the seventh novel, the same is not true in this world. Those who follow the "good side" end up being shafted by our society in the end. They take out loans and go into debt to waste 45 years of their life slaving away in a 9-5 job under a boss that they hate and maybe if they are lucky then they will get to enjoy a mediocre retirement. And by the time I am 65, it's almost guaranteed that the retirement age will be lifted even further.

Meanwhile, the anonymous Bitcoin hackers get to enjoy their spoils at typically ripe young ages (often in their twenties) and 9 times out of 10, are never to be heard from again.

Now, you might be wondering why I'm posting this here. Am I not incriminating myself? Am I not a lousy hacker for exposing my thoughts online? Well, the answer is no. You see, the thing is, I want to become a Bitcoin hacker. But I am not a Bitcoin hacker. I have only just started learning the basic fundamentals of Python, Java, HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL on edX and have roughly the same amount of technical knowledge as a 1st year computer science student.

So I'm not scared. I have done nothing wrong so far. To dream is not a crime.

If you get some nethashing factory "payrolls". You must live somewhere else when "shit hits fan" and "human haunt begins" , Interpol, Europol, CIA, FBI, Echelon/NSA.

Well, when bitcoin was just started, I was hacking other peoples bitcoins. And Litecoins, ixcoins and i0coins.

To become hacker learning programming is not necessary. I do not know any programming languages, maybe except beginner level BASIC for some ancient machines. I am self learned system administrator. Learning about how system must be configured properly and securely is more important than how to write something in high-level language. Python is total garbage. Only programming with low level languages and learning machine code and manual memory management will help you find new exploits. For already existing exploits no programming is needed. Just find vulnerable or misconfigured system and take over control.

Learning about networking and understanding it by heart will help a lot.

Learning web scripting languages like PHP and HTML5 will help somewhat to hack large bitcoin exchanges. But I guess they are unhackable from web facing side. You must get access to software running underneath, like getting access to VPS control panel or exploiting operating system running the website. People spend a lot of time to properly code a web page and only to service the server using connection that is not secured against MITM attacks.

I can only wish you good luck! But still it is worth making money in an honest way, although I’m a practical guy, I believe in karma! And you?

I admire your skills but I still think the best exploit is dumb humans. Believe me. That's how the coins usually change the owner. Experienced it myself multiple times.
I won't tell if I was on the receiving or sending side of the TRX though...  ;)

Well, I'd like to become a bitcoin hacker but it's not that simple, it's super hard. Also, agree with your words, no one dreams about a 9-5 job until 65, so good luck to you. Remember me as your motivator so when you get millions to send me something.

I'm an ethical hacker. If I want to spend 5 days on trying to hack a bad exchange, I can do it.

Remember that the exchange and Bitcoins are other people's business. Why should I steal what is not
mine? Those guys who said yes, you are either very immature, are 12 years old script kiddos who know
how to ping in console or, you are a psycho.

What did your parents do to you to think it's ok to steal? Would you feel ok if someone stole your only

Some hacking might not be to get the funds out or steal but help prevent any form of attacks

the question was if you will want to be a bitcoin hacker?

As an ethical hacker am sure you due to lots of hacks to improves security on a network does that make you a steal?

You have some good points there but this is not something no one thought of. And looking the other side, do you have any knowledge in the hacking field since hacking exchanges is not as simple as to just install an .exe and boom.

Well, if I had the technical knowledge and skills of course I wanted to be a btc hacker, I think there are a lot of people who wants this.

To hack Bitcoin, nowadays it turns out to be impossible, due to the SHA-256 code, the only way to hack it, is that you enter the PC of someone who owns bitcoin and has public and private keys somewhere in the Hard Disk , it can be done through cookies, emails, folders within the system, that is the only way.

The only thing that will make you different from being a hacker or not it's that if you open your "notepad" using the command-line or your mouse  :-X cheers

Premeditation is something that'll come back to bite you.
I figure that you'll be bored of the programming and lack of results and give up before ever doing it, like most people do.
Cyber crime tends to not leave evidence, but the people committing it can't seem to help themselves but brag online how they're a "pro haxxor", that's how they tend to get nabbed.
My advice: either give up the idea while you're still clean, or kill the habit of spilling the beans, honesty won't get you far with this.
