Can you suggest a good hub for these? Dont think I'll be using DLink-7Ports anymore, I use those for my U1's and seems crowded for U2s...

I've posted on other group buys asking the same thing but without any help on this. Would gladly purchase here if I get help in this thread. I would know how many I'm buying once I get an idea which hub to use...

EDIT: Running RaspberryPi, so NO USB 3.0... Somebody from another thread already suggested the Rosewill 10-port USB2.0 hubs... thoughts?

I've had pretty good results with the 10-port Rosewill RHB-500s.

I don't have any U2s to try in them, but my caliper says the port spacing is 13mm.

Was told last night they shipped Monday out of China, but no tracking showing up yet. :(  Was waiting to post a firm ETA, but figured to post what I do know.

they have a bigger heatsink( and if im not wrong they change one some of the resisters as well)  then the U1's and over clocking them is the same as what you would do for the U1's as well

No, and to be frank I'm a bit displeased with others having product arriving and nothing yet for my two orders placed. 

I've seen a bit of this recently.  I hope Bitmain isn't going the way of BFL...

Well they did say March 17th to March 31st, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and if my tracking #s shows up tomorrow, it is what it is, but sad that others have gotten shipments.

yes, I have at least 300 not spoken for yet, have a few requests in queue to hold 50-100 units for others who have not paid yet.

I will take another 30 to bring my total to 50.  This would drop me to .036 for an additional 1.06 BTC + .74 paid = 1.8 btc.  I will send a pm late today or early Am tomorrow with TX of additional payment if that's ok.

Left Alaska a couple hours ago, should be showing up in Kentucky 5-6 hours, and re-dispatched to my local hub for pickup tomorrow.

I will be printing labels tomorrow and shipping out all the orders placed, will update the list late tomorrow, as it usually takes us anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to unbox, inventory, rebox, label, update spreadsheet with shipping info/stats and take to post office.

These puppies are a bit heavier with the new heat sync, but still fit inside the same cases.

So,

I don't believe U2+ is real unless there is a new code release to BFGminer (i'm on 3.1) and they changed something in firmware to report different clock speed.  I plugged a dozen in right beside U1's on a 49 port USB board, the PCB boards look identical (but of course a bigger/better heat sync), and the U2's went right to 1.6GH.

I then did the "bfgminer.exe -S antminer:all --set-device antminer:clock=x0981" and they all work at 2Gh just fine.

I did buy the Gridseeds for myself to understand/use/and figured to sell off 20 or 30.  I bought ~3 weeks ago in a larger group buy, at the higher price before they dropped their prices (thats the way the ball bounces sometimes).  They actually only build GridSeed units 'after payment' and not sitting on shelf ready to ship when you pay, then going via courier out of china to reship, then to pay import shipping fee's took FOREVER.  Happy to have them, setting them up today as my power cords came in 5 minutes ago!  Thanks MrBobC!!!!

BFGMiners' Nwools is working on that as far as I know.  I wanted to, but I can't go buy myself a gridseed 5 chip at the moment...got a wedding to pay for.  I would like to know how much you'd sell one of those off for though, just in case...

From my understanding after having read through other groupbuys & posts on this forum:
the U2+ is pre overclocked at 2Ghs by default, hardware is identical to the U2. I assume older batches (such as the ones for this preorder) are the original U2 and newer orders come "updated" as U2+.
It's a bit confusing when Bitmain themselves label them as U2+ on their website

Only thing changed is the heatsink, they finally ran out of the "better" original asicminer .333 blockerupter H/S that they made billions of.
Antminer just reprinted them.

The original design was better in one respect, smaller more room in hubs to stack em, they did not overheat.

I believe the U2 is simply WoW factor but foolish.

I never saw anything concrete on that.  Are they actually too close to stack in a USB hub or not?

my guess is that it depends on the hub and from the pics im going to say if not touching they will be very close to one another but all that is just a guess some hubs are at a slant i would guess you could fit more on them?

Shipped today, found a few of the asicminer usbs (330 mh) cleaning up my basement area is weekend, threw one in.

... and hashing now!  Pleasure doing business with you.  And funny too, while looking for an extra hub to run the new miners I came across an old Anker with two AM sticks still in it.  Now hashing with 10 new U2's plus two old AM sticks. ;D

Question: how hot are these supposed to run?
I test ran mine while I was in class, and they were hot enough to burn.
Running at 2Gh/s. I guess I just didn't know what to expect.

Cooler than the old Asicminers .333 in my hubs, U1 and U2 temps about the same.
5v at 5a PowerAdapter on each hub - 5 Ux per hub  35 to 42C with large destop USB fan resting on the cluster of devices.
110 is nothin. Temps taken with a laser gun on wide scan.

Without a fan of some sort they get hotter, 50 to 60c or so. Not hot enuf to melt hub or anything, it just cuts down their lifetime runnin hot.

ALL U1 and U2 set at .0981 volts for 2ghz average on bitminter. I like to allow 1amp per stick, ( I like the margin ) everything overbuilt, not stressed.

Thanks for the quick response man. So would you say that even with a fan they are still to hot to handle without gloves/protection? I'm waiting on my fan to be delivered, and as it stands I cannot touch them for more than a second without burning myself. FYI I'm running 5 on a rosewill 10 port. 5v 4a should be plenty

I am not qualified to answer that as a "Normal" person. I did mechanic/machinist work for 40 years, I can handle most anything hot others react to.
Used to ask people to "hold a wrench" I was using after it set in the sun for awhile, I handed it casual, they always jumped back and dropped it :)
Lot of fun, then I told them to not bug me as I was a bit hot, had been working in the sun all day. Asphalt I stood on was up to 138 degrees in summer, I worked in that environment all day every day, hell my under hat temp was way over 100 all the time.

Now you know why mechanics are "hotheads" :)

Retired now, just want to reflect from time to time.  Thank God I do not do that anymore.

My miners seem cool to touch, to me. they do not reach "melt the plastic hub temp" so all is well, I do not handle them much at all tho, they just sit and mine, since december when it was all asicminers .333 next would be chilis if I can get enough coin, 30gh for 150.00 when you can find them.
U1 and U2 are fine for now.

I buy these to resell on ebay and was wondering does anyone know what the price of these miners on ebay has dropped like a rock. Any ideas as to why?

A attempt to discourage price gouging, and to help make for happy buyers, and a better eBay image for BitCoin involved sellers ?  :)

It's all a mechanism of supply and demand, to be sure.  Right now, the supply of these units is fairly high, higher than it's been before on eBay--couple that with a built-in depreciation (due to difficulty increases) and you have people lowering the price of the devices to make sure they move their units.  At last count, I see hundreds of units for sale, and only the lowest prices moving.

That's the free market for you!

most people actually bought their 500 stock when the price of bitcoin was 650

unless bitmain is clearing stock for special reserved customers

Yeah, but the price + MOQ + how they're pricing their hardware makes them absurd pricewise. 

At least this buy gets you the hardware without some stupid MOQ requirement attached.  Feel for anyone who purchased these in bulk from BM (OP :(), nobody wants them anymore for the most part since you basically can't resell for a profit and even 1TH is looking like small beans in mining equipment lately.

But if you like novelty, OP shipped quickly and without hassle, so support OP, don't buy direct from Bitmain. :D
