Ethereum started pumping in the last few days. Today ETH touched $ 150 which was pumped 80% in the past few days. This is a good sign for Ethereum holders. Because I am an ETH holder, it is a pleasure for me. I have bought 10 ETH when 1 ETH = 0.07 BTC. So I'm waiting for the pump again. Which is better to save now ETH or BTC? Please give your opinion

We should not get bullish about the market just yet.
The market is still volatile and there isn't enough growth as yet to support a recovery or give a hint of a bull run.

It's still a good time to buy more if you plan on it, as prices are still low.

My personal opinion is that BTC is better in the long term, more solid.

ETH has been rising lately but it was collapsing so bad for months now that I still don't believe anymore in this project (I used to be very optimistic about it and bought when ETH was worth $800, how wrong I was!).

the current market was not due to a pump and dump activities orchestrated by some groups. it was clearly a market movement. following the path it is meant to follow.  we have a lot of prediction regarding the market trend but almost 80% of such prediction failed. from what we saw that happen in November that saw Ethereum fail between the 200 price mark to 90usd. and then a bull trend that raised to usd145. we might reversed back to usd90 or below. 
 bear in mind that the correction is not yet completed.

So in other words, you are still at loss even if ethereum is at $150. Good thing you are optimistic enough to hold and have faith in this altcoins. I don't know what is the actual price of your eth when you buy it but I think you brought it higher than $150 so holding is what's the best thing to do rather than cut lose without profit.

It is not "pumping", pump suggests that someone is deliberately increasing the price so they could sell at a higher price.

Ethereum prices are increasing because it has been undervalued for months now and even saw as low as 80 dollars at one point which is really undeserving for such a coin. Right now I feel like until 200 dollars ethereum prices will not be really showing their true value. It has too much utility and usage to actually drop this much so that's why I believe that we could potentially see another increase in price for ethereum.

The best part about all of this is bitcoin only recovered to 4200 at best, it was 6500 at one point and during that 6500 times ethereum was 200 dollars, right now if price of bitcoin goes back to 6500 dollars I think ethereum would be about 300 instead of 200 this time which is great for all ethereum holders.

Arroware, you say that you pay 0.07 BTC for 1 ETH, and today price is 0.033 so it will take some time to reach this price again. As you may have noticed, all altcoins follow BTC price in both directions and because of that without BTC pump there will not be any ETH price increase. The most clever move now is to hold ETH, selling would only mean that you lost more then half of investment.

I am saying that in case you are thinking (based on your question ETH or BTC) to sell ETH and invest in BTC. Since you invest in ETH stick to that for now, but for me BTC is only coin in which I trust, but that does not mean ETH is bad investment.

You can chose any coins you want because this is only correction, not the right direction. Many people see this is good opportunity to buy back but not me. I can say January 2019 is the right time to buy back or recovery asset. Besides that end of the year many people exchange their coins into currency for holiday, so leave the market and enjoy your time.

yes ethereum is a coin that got a pump in the last few days I thought it was because of the news about hardfork etehreum in January which made people race to buy it. I also have a little ethereum coin bought when the price is $90

We're not sure that it's the pumping season but if you're an investor of the bearish market then you're able to earn more rather than just holding it. Even if you're holding you should add more in your investment buy buying at its lowest deep and double or triple your profit.

The market gained a few percent after the major drop in value. With ethereum being in of the largest gainers, and at one point surpassed BCH in value for the first time.

Yes, Ethereum has started regaining itself after a long time of crashing down. It will get better than this when we get into the new. The price was a bit stable between yesterday and this morning because of the public holiday and the volume trade was also relatedly stable. By the time the public holidays are over, we will experience bull run with the current price.

In my opinion ETH is better to hold now, fluctuations in ETH are bigger than BTC, then ETH will hardfork in the coming months I think this hardfork will improve or restore the value of ethereum because so far ethereum growth is the worst when viewed from the growth of altcoin which has the same popularity.

The price of Etherum starts to change, although when I post this comment that is when the price of Etherum is at 130USD rates. But this is pretty good because the changes happen well and Etherum can get out of the stagnant zone from the 90USD level. This is a good change and we hope there will be an increase again, this all takes time and our job is not to be provoked into panic when prices decline. Panic will only make the situation worse. Calm down and we can see the price of Etherum reaching a higher value.

The two coins that you have mentioned I think have a good potential for increase in the future, especially Ethereum. We know that ethereum has lost a lot of its price this year, and maybe Ethereum is preparing for the increase. Again.

BTC is still the best coin you can hold. It has little competition (unlike ETH) and the price is a lot more stable. ETH just pumped near 100% in a matter of days, that's not usually a good time to buy any coin.

The bullish sign is an indication that 2019 is going to be a bullish year.  Investing into ethereum may be one of the Best decision you have made in 2018. The year is closed to an end and I do believe that the big investors and whales are waiting for January in other to push most of these coins upwards.  However,  remember that ethereum is recovering and since it is still low you can still have many quantity as you wish and become rich in 2019.

If you can still hold on and you have enough money for your own personal needs, you dont need to worry day will come for ETH to  bounce back again and will bring you good chance of breaking even or maybe some profits, though it will surely take a long time before hand but trusting your own analysis will give you much better position, just imagine how big would be your loses if you will go and sell it from this current value.

Yes it started pumping few days ago, and the price didn’t go very low like some analysts predicted. The current price now is $130 and I’m looking forward to more increase in the price before the year ends. Many coins has been doing pretty fine, even Bitcoin is trying, got up to $4000 plus last week but has dropped back to $3700 this week.

I really hope it doesn’t go below that, I just want them to be going up and not down. The market has decreased a lot, so all we need this time around is increase only and no more decrease.

Before Christmas day ethereum price increased but after Christmas day ethereum price reducing but why it would be happened...no idea no solution.

The situation get into showing the volatility of crypto market. You understand it, you'll find the answer. Pumps and dumps happen all the time, you can never see the market will always flew and never turn down. This is the reality about crypto and you'll never have to question it.

I don't see the reason why you shouldn't stay with ethereum. For me both are equally good choice. I just love bitcoin more but I have some savings in ether too. As you wrote, great number of coins experienced solid price growth, 80% for ETH, more than bitcoin at this moment. Maybe one more reason to stick with it. Maybe will keep that trend.

Both but depends to you what is good between ethereum or bitcoin. But Im pretty much sure ethereum will increase very high the price and possible again $1000 will see someday and high chance to turn into $10,000 like what bitcoin reach before.

Been buy 5eth few days ago, and i wish it will be pump until january 2019, im sure it will, theres an issue that ethereum will fork in Q1 2019, it will be a good start to save more ethereum from now.

I'm not good at giving financial advise but If I'm in your shoes, I will still go with Bitcoin here or you can probably have both in your portfolio, 60% Bitcoin and 40% Ethereum. They're still cheap at the moment and this is still a perfect buying opportunity for everyone. And it was reported that a scheduled fork of Ethereum will occur next year (Constantinople). So I'm sure that the market will react to this news positively specially when we get closer to the date. So it's really up to you to take in considerations, before pouring your hard earn money.

Good times and bad times may happen to ETH. Even though cryptocurrency is decentralized still there are factors which may affect it in some way. You should think of it as a long-term investment and try not to panic when it goes down sometimes.  ::) As you can see now it is getting back to normal

Its a good sign, eth performance had been very poor lately, a lot of people accused scam ICO had been the reason the eth price falling down, and I don't think its going to be recover soon, but at least this is a great start to show that eth is a special coin, hope that people will start to buy and used eth again

ETH is the next big in market cap after btc. This coin has a great future and can reach even if half the price of btc people would be millionaire or may be billionaire if they continue to buy or hold the ETH for few year. ETH will rise quickly and be above 500$.

Both are very potential coins, so it is very worthy to be an investment. I think this is something that we must choose. You are right but not only ETH but also the whole market. But I am wondering about big fall like which was did after hitting $8K. I am confused until BTC hit $5K.

As a crypto user, this is really charming news for me not only me but also all the crypto lovers. I have seen in coinmarketcap that ETH is moving up so this will help to make more investors for ETH and even users of Eth feel optimistic now for going to have a chance to make some profits.

Bad luck that you have losed many. But if you trade then it was possible to recover. Look on chart, ETH was touched almost 0.037BTC but now 0.032BTC. I don't think you sold it on 0.037BTC. Now think if you had sold on 0.037BTC you could re-buy on 0.032BTC. In a result you can recover and increase your ETH. Don't expect it will pump like 0.07BTC in one night expect there is no bull run. I don't know how long you have to wait for recover if you are not interested to trade. Although it's little bit risky but you could use stop loss in order to avoid hard dump. However may be there is chance to pump eth in next year if happen blockchain upgrade/hardfork. Best of luck for you.

The possibility of choosing to buy then holding ethereum now is a good decision, because we see ethereum in the process of bouncing back (after losing a considerable price in this declining market). But it seems we also need the price of bitcoin to go up so that all Altcoins will also go up.

I would hold a large amount of bitcoin but I do believe Ethereum will pump a lot harder during the next bull run.  Altcoins always seem to tank more in a bear market but outperform bitcoin in a bull market.  Eth can 10x and still be below its previous all time high while bitcoin would be nearly 40x if it did a 10x.

The market so far is so very volatile, it will be difficult for us to predict what could be happen in the future.

ETH /USD in Tuesday was forced to give back some of its big start to the week gain late on Monday .after producing initially a double digit advance .the price has ralled to its highest level down was seen. Which isn't surprising given the excessively strong pump observed last week.

The price of ETH is recovering but it is not a sign of bull run, ETH price based on the price of bitcoin. Previously many people comment Xrp has huge potential compared to ETH, look at the market now ETH is the second position in terms daily volume. Sometime the trend will make to generate more volume but it doesn't mean it has secured second position.

I advise you not to keep your money in one coin. Share the risks. I bought 6 altcoins, which in my opinion are promising. You can choose the coins that you like more and buy them.

price increase is common but that can also caused for an unexpected bull run  and a bullish market is not  guarantee to be a safe zone because anytime the prices can always collapse .
 
meanwhile i did not see any price for etherium but i did see that other altcoins are up by 3 to 5 %  which result for them to become green when we look at the price chart  .

You’re already holding ETH, there is no need for you to sell it, just continue to hold. I have Ethereum too that I bought recently when the price was below $100 per ETH. After it got to $150 it went back down to around $126 before going to $136 today. I believe the price will go above that when BTC starts to go up again. So just hold it, if you want, you can also buy BTC and add to it.

True. Still its scary to say or anticipate that a bullrun is here. I think its just a  normal market reaction and Ethereum price can drop anytime. Be very cautious here, and as what @Pattart says sell when opportunities have come.

Yes, but when you compare with previous year prices still, it is very cheap in the market. At least the price of ETH recovered anyhow many people lost their hope on the price of ETH due to huge fluctuation in the market but with the recent hard fork now the price of ETH is increasing.

Ethereum is probably going higher because of the expected stake deal. As soon as the hard fork passes the people with more ethereums will gain more ethereums thanks to staking, all the fees and new coins will be going to their wallets instead of miners. This means the more eth you have the more you will stake kinda like interest you get from your savings account in the banks.

It means people started to grab as much eth as they can afford and this created a demand that supply couldn't cover so the price went up. I don't know how long this will continue but I assume this will continue at least until the hard fork. As soon as people start to stake they will either continue to buy more ethereum to make more profits or they will not be happy with the amount they are making and start to sell their coins.

It is not pumping, because pumping means someone is manipulating the price, however if you bought, its better you research more and diversify your portfolio, coins like ledu, monero ,eos, you can optin for them. But do your research.

ETH and BTC are both good for the long term. I do think that when the market recovery starts BTC will lead the way. However ETH price is increasing probably due to the forthcoming Constantinople upgrade.
If the question is to buy ETH or BTC, just look at the historic ETH chart vs BTC. ETH bounced up from the bottom support level quite recently, so it is still lower than normal vs BTC. The question is whether the Constantinople effect will tail off before the whole market bull returns.

With the increase in ETH values today, hopefully it can trigger the enthusiasm of the people who have long withered and lethargic against cryptocurrencies. I think you should choose XRP to buy now. Because XRP and ETH are fighting to win second place. XRP has not shown signs of growth yet, they are waiting for a good time to grow and this is an opportunity for us to buy low and sell high. I think this is a pretty good strategy and it depends a lot on the luck and the recklessness of each person.

In my view ethereum isn't yet ready mate.. Which those previous pump last few days is just a normal reaction because of the volatility , but it's a big sign as well that there's still a tends of recovery  . which is unlike others predictions about it (opposite). So keep holding your eth and be patient ! Keep believing also that soon both eth and btc will soar again back to the current record.

The price of ETH v Bitcoin does indeed look very low at the moment. Best time to buy was probably when it was around half its current price. Not sure how much of the current rise is due to the upcoming ETH fork, and how much is just because it hit a low point anyway. Either way ETH is a solid long-term coin to hold. Might be worth watching price movements immediately after the fork kicks in as well, just in case anything dramatic starts to happen.

I feel like XRP's going to be over soon. Because Ripple is growing at an incredible rate and has no connection to the XRP. Most investors think they're the same. In short, it no longer needs XRP.

The ETH price increase is probably due to the hard fork, but it was at historic lows against BTC anyway, so that may have played a part. It's difficult to see whether it will continue to rise or not given that the bear market for crypto as a whole has shown no signs of abating.

I think the price of Ethereum is increasing. It is a good bullish sign for early 2019. I think you can hold and buy more ETH at the moment to take profit in the future.

The hardfork that will happen at this time is different from the hardfork which happened to other altcoins as happened earlier in BCH. Where when hardfork is finish then there will be a new altcoin come out, but this time that come to pass on ETH will not produce a new altcoin. Hardfork ETH only updates the system, like you update Instagram or wallet on your smartphone, and I'm not sure any investor will be interested in this considering the cryptocurrency market is still in the bearish market.

For me bitcoin and ethereum are two big coins and have good potential that many investors like, I like both, but if I have to choose I will choose bitcoin, because bitcoin is the parent of all altcoins and good for long-term investment.

The recent Ethereum pump was expected, this is in response to the coming hard fork to reduce the block reward from 3 to 2, until weeks later if the Ether price can sustain this gain is when I will say Ethereum is back in the game, even couple with the recent dip in ICO contributions people need to think long term with Ethereum

Both Ethereum and Bitcoin I think both coins have good potential and you only have to decide which one to choose, even choosing both is not a bad choice.

Ethereum or Eth has a good future ahead at least on the short-term basis. This is one platform which has a good dev team behind and has good leaders behind it working and doing all they can to make it more responsive to the demanding market and always looking for ways to make Eth the cryptocurrency of the future. it is true that there are many pumps recently but i think we should consider to sell as soon as we know the market falls, too much pumps days before makes me think it will soon drop again, don't be greedy and it may fall faster than we think, however we can hope the price will rise again in next year.

ETH and BTC are the best coins in the class, so there is nothing to consider between the two, imho. If you really can't afford to save both, then if I were you, I would choose bitcoin, because bitcoin is the main one for me to hold. If we have hold Bitcoin properly, then we can then choose several altcoins that are worthy of long term holding such as ether.
