Title: Electrum Sending Fee Question
Post by: jerry0 on December 25, 2018, 09:30:15 PM
I will most likely transfer some btc from electrum to someone or another site and haven't done so in quite a while.  If you do a low fee, is it still pretty quick nowadays?  And anyone can tell me what is the recommended fee as of now and how long does that take?

As always... check one of the many websites that shows the mempool size and current fees being used...

Personally, I use the following:
- https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

You can easily get an idea of the current size of the mempool... and the current fees being used.

Right at this moment, the mempool is relatively small, so almost any fee greater than 1 sat/byte will lead to relatively quick confirmation...

If you pause your mouse cursor over the fee slider on the send tab it'll tell you the estimated time to confirmation. You can also customize this algorithm via tools > preferences > fees tab > fee estimation. Low fees don't always lead to quick confirmations. I mean it can take a few hours. Certainly not days like in 2017.
