Initial coin offerings (ICO) will return within “18 months” and Ethereum (ETH) will “rebound aggressively,” BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes told Cointelegraph Japan Dec. 26.

BitMEX is a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency trading platform that has become one of the largest trading platforms in the world by volume.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Hayes forecast a return to form for 2018’s “dead” ICO markets.

“The use case for Ether is primarily ICOs. That market is dead right now,” he said, adding:

    “Once there are new issues, then Ether will rebound aggressively. When the ICO market returns, Ether will quickly test $200. The timing of the ICO rebirth is 12 to 18 months out.”

Hayes made the comments following a now rare day of stability across cryptocurrency markets, with ETH/USD staying range bound within 1 percent of $129 after doubling in a week.

One of the top performers in the short term, the once-largest altcoin has seen losses of over 90 percent in 2018.

In the coming 12-18 months, however, Hayes first predicts stablecoins will have their time in the limelight before an ICO resurgence.

“Security tokens and stablecoins will prove attractive sirens for investors in 2019,” he continued, noting:

    “While their fundamental raison d'etre is flawed, investors in this time of pain will latch onto anything they believe will be their ticket to easy riches.”

He did not elaborate on whether that market will implode like that of the 2017 ICO boom.

For Bitcoin (BTC), Hayes suggested a fairly small trading corridor for next year — between $1,000 and $10,000. Some sources have argued institutional investors engaging in Bitcoin through new financial instruments will take the price much higher.

Last weekend, Justin Sun, CEO of decentralized application (DApp) development platform TRON (TRX), claimed ETH was “slowly imploding.”

Ethereum increase in the low period in the waiting period by all Ethereum holders. In how many weeks or when Ethereum will rise to 200 $? I hope this news has a positive impact for the price of Ethereum in 2019.

In my opinion, hitting $200 is a matter of time. Let the Bitcoin price to settle then all the other coins will find their way. I am even looking forward for ETH to hit $1200 again.

BitMex CEO again is predicting the price of Ethereum? Last time he was right, he said that Ethereum is shi**oin and soon will be under 100$, and that really happened.
But what he does mean by ICO market return?

It's these experts predictions that investors are losing money, who would have thought all coins will be down to this prices, only few people predicted that there will be a very long bear market, right now we must only trust those who can give us accurate predictions.

Always this whole predictions. I am tired that everyone thinks they have to predict prices. Usually the predictions are not correct and the market is developing as he wants and usually not as predicted. That is why i ignore meanwhile predictions.

This person usually gives quite pessimistic forecasts, so I hope that it will cost significantly more.

I think Ethereum will show more interesting prices than he did, because soon we are waiting for the update and I am sure that this will give a more favourable result!

I'm much more interested on the BTC-ETH correlation. In one of his last interviews he said that Bitcoin bear market will continue in 2019 and we could expect Bitcoin @ $2000. Then $200 Ether would mean 0.1BTC price again... I highly doubt to see it soon.

Anyway, I also hope to see the ICO marker reborn in 2019. Maybe after the summer break?

There will be other platforms that ICOs can choose so ethereum may not be the platform of choice. Also, the SEC are giving ICOs a hard time so we may not see the pump that we have seen in the past as there will be less ICOs now

Ethereum is already testing out 200 dollars while we are in a bear market. I mean prices of bitcoin has dropped from the 4.2k levels yet here we are ethereum is doing great. I think if ICO returns ethereum will definitely go as high as 300 even 400 dollars easily. There will be a flock of people trying to buy ethereum in order to fund the ICO they want to participate and those ICO will not get the money right away but even when they do they will try to pay their expenses as Ethereum without cashing out as much as possible.

This is just a weird result of bear market in crypto that ethereum ever went under 100 dollars, it definitely doesn't deserve those numbers. 200 is not something we should be happy about, we should be looking to reach 500 dollars at least, thats what ethereum really deserves right now. A lot more in the future of course.

All coins will grow if the ICO market returns, because long-awaited investors will return to the market with their large capital. Until then, we will earn on market dynamics.

I don't like what this guy is doing, he is using his exchange and influence in he space to kill the market at large, the shorting of Ether cause the price collapse to the extent that some miners started shorting it. For me I believe by now developers won't be stupid enough to raise money from the space and fail to convert it to Fiat

If the ICO's activities next year begin to be massively regulated by states, this may speed up the period of increasing their popularity and ultimately should lead to a sharp increase in the price of ethereum. At the moment i am skeptical about such statements. So far, i see no sign that the ico market comes back. It will certainly be very difficult for icos to regain the investors trust.

Although im positive that Eth will surprise us all with its bullish trend in the first few months of the new year but the recent dip has been a turn off i was quite sure that eth will become uni directional now for atleast few weeks i hope this dip will be just a correction and the up trend will continue.

I think that Ethereum will be able to break the resistance line of $ 200 faster. Only the output of Constantinople will be able to make Ethereum grow to $ 200, and if the ICO market revives, the Ethereum will grow faster.

I think he is right. But as for me, I expect another price of Ethereum in the nearest future. At least 300-400$. When the market will start recovering, eth will grow immediately.

Did you mean 2018 or really meant 2019? If 2019 then you are talking about a long run. Falling from $20k to $6k-$8k for bitcoin did not take much time though. I am expecting a bull market since we already have seen the correction. If this happens then $200 is not going to take the whole 2019.

I think ethereum will return to 200 faster as he suggests. I am bullish on ethereum and to my mind there is potential for fast growth withing 2 months!

Every green day in the market Ethereum rise around 13-20%, but it is always followed by big dump, so it is hard to attack 200$ level for Ethereum, when market is still bearish.

Yes Ethereum is like the first domino in this market. If his price falls, they all fall. The real problem here is that Ethereum is also affected by the bitcoin price. If this were not correlated, this market could have come to better places.

But ethereum is already prove its place in Crypto-Space when it reach All time High price @ $1200+ and i believe that it was highly possible to surpassed that ATH record in the coming months if the market condition in 2019 will improve will thats only my positive speculation and the results may differ.

I think the ICO cycle is coming to an end. The success rate of projects starting with ICO funding is not very high. Approximately 2000 ICO completed the investment process. But the number of actually functioning projects is not even 1 in 10.

I think so too. What's the matter to do an ICO if you are legit startup now? There are so many threats: bearish market, SEC, the absence of investors and many others. Why should we invest in ICOs, when every single token is below it's ICO price?

that's very good news for us, I guess that can improve the mentality of ethereum holders. but in my opinion when that happens ethereum won't only have 200 $ maybe I hope it will be 1000 $.

Thats will be really great, 200 is not the best price of course, but if ETH gets 200 the market will move little bit more interesting, as you can see with low ETH price ICO market looks not vey healthy right now, most of the projects are just waiting good market conditions.

I do not think $200 is a high price for ethereum and eth will certainly reach the price again.

unfortunately the ICO market will never return. as long as there is no change, people prefer not to invest. the problem at the moment, is that ico can't provide profits to its investors. regardless of the project it's good or scam, because when their token listing on the market the price will fall.

IMO, the only way that ethereum can return is to immediately release an update for POS. so there will be many people who will hold ethereum.

Just a few dollars before reaching $200 so it's really doable. Remember that there will be a upcoming fork, so I'm sure many will slowly invest on Ethereum to get those free airdrop coins. It's a fairly conservative estimates from Bitmex CEO but at least it's not a exorbitant numbers similar to what other so-called experts are predicting and it's achievable by all means.

Two hundred dollars ethereum will already be in the first half of next year, but where it goes further is a very interesting question.

What do you mean by that? How are you so sure? Do you have a solid reference which is talking about ETH not to cross $200 in 2019?

I think $200 can be retested even thanks to hard forks only.
Not sure why he's so sure the overinflated ICO market is ever coming back.
Maybe if a huge well-known corporation decides to gather ICO funds, we might see a revival.
But overall I'm pretty bearish on ICOs themselves.

This guy is known for destroying the price of BTC and Ethereum, the exchange fund FUD article that crash the price of Ether, the double digit shitcoin article did great damage to the price of Ether, now calling for the price of Ether to pick up will be diffficult, it is easier to bring something down than to bring it up

And then ethereum has increased a lot of its price last week but he was not even mentioning it. The fundamental of market totally pegged to the speculators. FUD and bad news will give a bad impact on the market but the decision still depend on the speculators.

Speculators have their goals set long before, so I do not think that information from such a person would have any effect on Ethereum's price. ETH is still dependent on BTC and if there are any minor differences, I doubt that this will happen on the basis of such information.

I doubt the ICO market will be how it used to be earlier, the shit ton of Scam's Ico's made that market to lost their credibility. It was a really nice idea but those scammers ruinned that all.
