But why ? Because it's the first cryptocurrency created, and the most used in the market ? What makes you believe that Bitcoin will be the eternal king of the market, and something else won't replace it ?

I'm surprised everydays of peoples saying that "btc will be the king forever" without delivering a proper argument.
That's why I created this topic, not because I want to know "who will be the next king" or "BTC will be replaced soon", no, I want to hear a proper opinion on this matter, without some BS such as "it's the king, because it was the first". In that case, why would he's still be the "king" right now, and why would be he be in the future ?

Why? Go use the search button of the forum and you can see that there are too many threads asking the same questions as yours. There's no such proper opinion related to these question(s).

People believe in something coz they're into it and mostly they invested money, time, so on and so fort.

Mainly the community and the developers. Because the developers proved us that we could trust them, these people are driven by passion and not by greed.

I can't name any coin out there who could go through what bitcoin went thru (Drama, FUD, forks etc.) all that without having the original creator around, and would still survive.

It was never mainly because it was the first cryptocurrency. It's mostly because of adoption and network effect. Where does majority of the developers developing in? Bitcoin. What is the most used cryptocurrency? Bitcoin. Bitcoin is simply just so far ahead that it's going to be difficult(though not impossible) for other projects to overtake it.

Everyone being realistic would think that it's not impossible to replace bitcoin anyway. It just doesn't seem that it's going to be replaced anytime soon. Bitcoin is too established currently to be easily replaced in just less than a decade. If it was going to be replaced, it's definitely going to take a while.

Look at the price movement of the market: If for example ripple or Ethereum is growing in price is the whole market greener? Or, on the contrary, when the price of EOS falls, the whole market turns crimson?
The answer is NO.
That's why bitcoin is called the king today. Because it focuses the entire market. No one is saying that he will be king forever, but you can safely say that while he deserves it. Maybe soon he will find a replacement, but today is right there.

Bitcoin is the first of it's kind and the response so far so good as we can see by the value.
It's a promising investment yet crypto still young and still a lot of potential that can be achieve.

I think there will be no other "digital invesment things" that able compete cryptocurrency at the moment

First,money is illusion created by humans. Bitcoin is digital form of money which can replace each other forms. It is two  different thing :Investing to inflation and investing to digital money that grows  based on proven mathematical method. Illusions can lead  person to unproperly view on economy.

Yeah, that's why the currency currently crossed 4k $ barrier again and showing us the last hope for this year.

People truly believe a lot on bitcoin, because it is proved that one who adopt earlier will benefit good out of bitcoin. Early adopters who has got patience have earned big out of holding long term. Same is the reason that makes people believe bitcoin though it is very young with less than ten years of history.

To value an alt, when bitcoin is still being adopted by the financial industry/governments and regulated around the world, as being a real asset, that has real value is insane.

Waiting for altcoins to show true value will take 10 years for a project. We still can't "agree" on the value of bitcoin after a decade of it storing value and transferring it without requiring 3rd parties. Altcoins may need to wait even longer to have a large enough adoption pool that undeniably proves value. The type of value that people religiously protect and hold onto regardless of "expert" opinions. THAT is where value will show in an altcoin.

Adoption - Infrastructure (exchanges, wallets, payment acceptance, historical #value, user base, security, education) = SHIT

Bitcoin = Funded all Altcoins, funded tons of other things, securely stored/transferred payments for 9 years
Altcoins = ?!?!?!

Projects like Ethereum, Monero, Stablecoins, Ripple don't have to just get adopters of these "currencies," some need to get regulators approval, show that their security is up to the task, keep their developers releasing project updates, navigate a cesspool of shitcoins that "pretend" they do anything.

There is value within some of them, the amount is less than 5% and only time will prove this.

You can say that. Because the first BTC, holding market prices, has many communities, many believe. but it is not something that is not possible at one time BTC will be replaced by another, but for now people still put trust in BTC.

How will another convince everyone in bitcoin that their shiny new coin has real value? They won't. EVER.

How will a new coin somehow have a better development team, when bitcoin has the best developers in the space? 

Altcoins like Ethereum, Monero, Litecoin have people who are as good as bitcoin developers but that doesn't leave any talent for "new coins" to hire and somehow create a "better" coin.

The worst developers in crypto "try" to create valuable coins and fail. The best developers in crypto join the best crypto currency development teams that bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, ripple, stellar have created.

Starting a new team to create a new coin requires so much capital that it would automatically lose value because questions of the teams intentions will always be asked when looking at a crypto currency. Satoshi and bitcoin don't have that problem.

The Core teams ability to keep the protocol running, secure transactions and store value is not EASY for someone else to just do it better.

We believe in it because it's a great technology. It can be taken over by something better at some point but why would it be if it can be upgraded? Aeroplanes were never taken over by something better. They were continuously upgraded since the first prototype and I don't see them being taken over by a better technology in the next 50 years. Bitcoin will be there in 2020 you can be sure of it.

We may have different opinion on the above topic as posted. My one cent opinion Bitcoin able to survived the beating on the market, it remains the most trusted coin in the crypto market, consumers investors believes on the stability of Bitcoin, the support system on the market is high and gaining more investors everyday.

People believe in Bitcoin because there is something in it that they saw and want to. For example, investors believe in Bitcoin and invest in it because they saw it's potential to grow in price while others who believe in its technology, invest in it to support it.

Simply because smart contracts aren't necessarily made for payments in the first place. Cryptocurrencies that are for smart contracts are mostly for decentralized utilities. The debatable and arguable thing is if these so called "smart contracts" needs to necessarily be decentralized or not.

Actually, I was also surprised, there is actually something with bitcoin, so many people expect something interesting in bitcoin. But this is the reality, bitcoin is able to hypnotize many people with all its advantages, and is very profitable for those who are intelligent.

if "people" were believing A LOT in bitcoin then price would have been constantly going up. but the market is showing that A LOT of people believe SO LITTLE in bitcoin. and only some of them believe in it which is why only some are successful while others lose.

Nobody held their money in a currency that increased 100% during the last 5, 10, 100 years.... bitcoin is the one coin to rule all currencies.

if in my opinion fiat money is very difficult to be replaced by bitcoin, because bitcoin is difficult to regulate and control. of course the government will prefer its own currency rather than bitcoin. Fiat and Bitcoin currencies are trusted in their respective worlds.

Too trusting can also harm you. especially a short-term trader should not be too trusting #imo. especially when the price falls. if he believes too much in bitcoin. surely he will hold bitcoin whatever happens. because he believes the price will recover but the price could continue to bleed and it might take several years to recover. if he do a short term. surely you will lose because of overconfidence

I have read and talked about these topics for a pretty long time on the forum now. There are so many people who want to believe that something will replace Bitcoin because they want their "Thing" or their "Bag" to replace it.

The thing with Bitcoin is that there are enough geeks, crypto-enthusiasts, traders, political thinkers and plain normal people who are feverish about ensuring world-domination.

There are intelligent, competent and secretive people who enjoy this as a challenge to the powers that be. There is the underlying legend of the early harbingers like the mysterious Satoshi, The second-in-command Hal Finney who was on a quest to  understand and contribute to bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0) even when he was taking his last breaths paralyzed by a dreadful genetic disorder. (Some believe Mr. Finney was Satoshi himself)

The lore, The technical depth, the creativity and sheer mystery of bitcoin is so powerful that it can never be replaced by people like Roger Ver or Craig Wright who are in this clearly for self-aggrandization or purely profit. Only people who doubt this and want to believe the naysayers fall in two categories:

1. Newcomers who hate that they weren't here earlier and simply cannot digest that they couldn't have it.
2. Ego-maniacs who cannot accept that they can never do what Satoshi did or what the Core Devs do as a team.

You will probably dislike what my answer is but for me it's a big YES ;D. You should understand that believing to btc is natural for investors because it has the strongest foundation among the others. Why would you even choose to give your full trust in an alt (which may have a possibility of becoming a shitcoin) if there is the most trusted coin in the first place? I hope you get my point.

Anyway, even me don't believe that there is a 100% assurance for bitcoin to be the king forever. I'm only saying that it will remain at the tip of the mountain as long as there's no other coin who can beat it.

I think that being a pioneer gives him some advantages. But we cant say with certainty that no other coin can not replace it. But it seems to me that bitcoin will be the first digital currency to be used on a large scale.

Because Bitcoin us the first cryptocurrency. People believes bitcoin only for that this coin is first cryptocurrency and Bitcoin price is so high then other cryptocurrencies. I also believe in bitcoin. It is now most useful and secure cryptocurrency. Maximum people use bitcoin. It is the king now and in future bitcoin still king. in the minds of the people that trust and Faith about cryptocurrency will not be reduced at any time but some of the people will think that kind will not be there for any time and they said Bitcoin will close soon otherwise most of the people will accept Bitcoin still now.

Bitcoin is the first crypto currency that offered a decentralised transaction system, its the first currency that offered anonymous transactions, and bitcoin got power by the support of the people, and now we already got so many people that support it, so it become more powerful, bitcoin is the king because a lot of people using it, it got the highest transaction volume

I agree that this kind of question has been asked several times in this forum with a rephrases words and people who answered it have a different perspectives and opinions to this matter. Honestly, we cannot really point out why people or most of the people in here believe to bitcoin but I assure that they believe or rather we believe in bitcoin because we know what goods it has brought to us and what benefits we gain from it.

I think even with any condition of bitcoin, it still can called king, because it is like center of all cryptocurrencies. Although we know some coins have value more than 1 BTC, but at the end, it will less than 1 BTC and means Bitcoin still be center of it.

Nope, that isn't the case. Coins like the Dogecoin are ⅛ or there about of a cent yet it was developed long time ago before most of the other coins. If I am not mistaken, I think Dogecoin was the fourth coin to be developed.


Definitely, in terms of market cap it scores highest but it really isn't the most used as there are some cryptos whose circulating supplies are in billions yet there market value aren't in anyway close to bitcoin.

Its the first and that's why it has most investors but that doesn't mean it will keep wining the top on the list ,i think very soon in near future the will see better ones that will outperform bitcoin ,intact we have some better ones already but not just strong enough to pull bitcoin down on the list

People trust bitcoin because most people trust it.
Some are just bandwagons and they don't really understand the tech, they're in for the return.
It cannot be denied that there are better tech than bitcoin but still bitcoin is clearly dominating the market, it's the people's support that makes it possible

I think being the first one is also a reason. Without any opponents to many investors that is wanting to try the new invention, all of the money will go straight to Bitcoin. That just blew up the price and since that more and more investors invest again making the price higher and many more hoping it will give them profit. Blockchain technology can run the whole world with fastest pace and secure method. Recently there was news that Brisbane airport start accepting bitcoin as a payment methods.
There are many application of crypto in our real life situations. can you imagine last month one of my friend needs money in new Zealand. I did not have money in my account but i had some amount of bitcoin. i sent him that he claimed it on exchange there. Worldwide support is really good for us. no limit to send money,no boundary etc...

Mostly you buy bitcoin first before you could even buy an altcoin.
Yes, there are some exchange whi are accepting ETH directly to be sold or bought but mostly the first option will be bitcoin first.

If you see some threads here questioms are also brought like this.

"I have 5 BTC where should I invest it?"
"I have $3000 and will be buying BTC but also want to diversify."

but the difference is that when something also has some utilities to offer it gains a solid growth instead of a fake and unstable one. and bitcoin has that. it offers a lot of things from being a currency to use worldwide without border to being a store of value to safely put your money without anyone being able to touch it or probably even know about it.
this has nothing to do with "believing" in anything, it is about seeing the reality and wanting to use it.

Yes, just go build something that is a decentralized digital currency, with no 3rd party required to transfer payments between the owners of the new currency.

Then have people value it at $0 - $1 for a couple years.

Watch a couple years later when it bounces between $1-$10 in value around the world.

Then when it gets in the $10 - $100 range, you just have to get over that hump before your new "currency" appears to have some valid reason to actually exist.

And if you can get over the $100 - $1000 value area for this new digital currency that anyone in the world can own or use, you will have recreated what Bitcoin did. Congratulations. 

The king will remain the king for a very long time and the only coins that might replace it is stablecoin. No one actually have the knowledge on when this stablecoin will commence except those behind it. Facebook itself has not come up with any information about this and we are going to have bitcoin remaining dominant for long-term.  Maybe in 2030 we would have to see many new coins coming up.

If you will be thinking of it, other cryptocurrencies can give them the same profit.

The time I've invested on Bitcoin, the price is not that low it is already booming. I thought that it might jsut reach the 4 digits and just go back and forth to 3 digits and 4 digits but boy I was wrong. The price rockets up to 5 digit, there are predictions about it and I never thought that it would be making it there. That is the reason why I believe so much on Bitcoin now, with a lot of investors investing and supporting it I don't think it will just go down that easily as it will give more profit in the upcoming year.

No not all people are believer of bitcoin . infact many of them are hater because they think bitcoin is a joke currency because of its digital characteristic .  others hate bitcoin because they think that bitcoin is a hindrance to their business  .

well, in my oppinion BTC is the king at this moment, largest market cap, price, BTC dominance above 51%, largest dev team, largest network, etc...
But this does not mean that it will be the king forever, BTC is getting behind in development and focusing only on the "money side", if things stay this way, it will eventually be replaced because a lot of coins are doing what btc do (transfers and such), but better ...

You are absolutely right. By only for price drowning, we can't Bitcoin will not survive. Bitcoin is the King in the crypto market and it will survive for long time. We strongly believe in Bitcoin and we will support it every time.

Now you are more specific, then I'm ok with your explanation, but what you just said are just accomplishements, not a proof of its monopoly.
I could very well take for exemple a shitcoin in the market that mooned and said "you see, that's why it's the greatest coin in the market", what you said has basically little value.
If a global institution decided to create his own coin worldwide, how could BTC remain at the top for exemple ? I really want to hear an impartial opinion on that.

People opinion could be different when they described bitcoin as the king but for me personally i highly believe bitcoin will be the first and the last king of cryptocurrencies and most potential rather than other coins that when other altcoins alternately fill in the second position on coinmarketcap but bitcoin can last in the first position from year to year

Useful in our society? Never heard that before? Can you elaborate this? I've been "using" Bitcoin for a long time now and yeah, it is a great investment, it is not that I use it but I invest my money on it. Also, I don't think that it is widely used for transactions as we all know the fees are not that low and with the price having a dip for a long time, I'd rather hold unto them rather than use them.

It is true that not all of people have same opinion about bitcoin, Actually; there are people who keep saying that the bitcoin is dead and people who still believing to the potential of the bitcoin. As a investors, I always have high self confidence and I believe that the bitcoin will grow more.

Yes, not just only one people is saying that bitcoin is the king for ever but a lot of people. How a group of people will be totally wrong ? Bitcoin has all the potential as per the expectation.

All you need is simply going through the basic concepts of bitcoin like how its limited supply is being attracting people and what are the actual benefits of adopting a decentralized system. How bitcoin is going to replace banks/gold/paypal/WU and a lot other similar things.

Basically we are into an electronic era where people are preferring digital money and quick transaction from their mobile app. Plus, you must need an asset which will be providing you multiple returns over the time and should not be hacked. All these are available with bitcoin systems. Interestingly, we are still into the early years of bitcoin and compared to the future adopters we must be still having the chances of to be called as early or adopters by the people of 2050. Then why not adopt bitcoins to enjoy the maximum benefits and advantages ?

Price really matter for now,  that is a big asset for Bitcoin and becoming number 1 coin in the crypto. People will love it as they think that investing Bitcoin will give them a prosperous life in the future.  People should understand that crypto won't just give an easy money if we don't work on it. Bitcoin continues to function as a digital currency from digital market many years up until now. I am also one of the believers of bitcoin because I am watching it starting from the day I started create my bitcoin wallet.

Im also a believer of bitcoin and for me bitcoin its still the king and alot of people do believe in it.It helps me profit doing work on it that is why i truly believe that bitcoin would recover from these bear market.

We believe in crypto for a simple reason,for giving us profit and gains since we came here in investing

Whose "HE" you've mentioned here? Anyway Bitcoin is still remain popular not because it is the first creation it is because of a good mission and vision to all people including the people in a low class of living that may received the good benefits from Bitcoin.

I am helped every day by 3-20 people, and I do not have something to give them as a reward, but  saying "thank you" and "have a good day". I never had sufficient money to do everything I wanted, or everything people told me that would be good to do. I guess everyone in this world is like I am.

  This is why people believe a LOT in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is money, a reward for everyone being good with everyone. In my opinion the bitcoin price will be bigger than 10-20 million dollars/1 bitcoin, in 10-14 years from now (that is 10 000 000 -20 000 000 dollars/1 bitcoin in 10-14 years from now).

There are many people believing that bitcoin is the key to improve the current payment system. There are many countries that are experiencing high inflation and the bitcoin is the key to their problems.

LOL. lottery is one of the considerations for you to earn but the requirements should be that you are a lucky guy. I think there is a lot of answers as to your why. Why Bitcoin will remain to be the king; and why a lot of people are truly supporting it; and why it will remain to be the number one forever; and so on? There are more answers than questions. Why? Because it was the one that truly shook the old yet very powerful and influential financial system! Because it was the one who really made the revolutionary disruption that made the eyes of the world blink! Because it is being accepted not just by rebellious individuals who grew tired of the bankers but also by the advance-thinking businessmen and corporations! It's because bitcoin price works on a cycle, we have seen the bubble at the end of 2017, so for obvious reasons 2018 started as the year when the price burst that's why it ended at $3800, almost 80%-85% downside, but as I have said, it's a cycle so we need to wait till the next bullish trend appear, might be months or year, but I'm sure we will get to the start of the cycle and then go on and hit another all-time-high. So we don't need to worry, but have patience that one day the price will go on another massive spike.

I agree with what you are saying, and I think, if people are getting their hands on bitcoin because they believe that bitcoin will make them a lot of profit then surely its value will continue to rise and will further be the top cryptocurrency in the cryptomarket. I also think that one of the reasons why people believe in bitcoin especially new comers is because, it is the one who got the top spot today.

because bitcoin is the main currency in cryptocurrency like the dollar in fiat money. now try to think is there a fiat currency that can have power like a dollar and can replace it.
