There is no gainsaying about this, that Ethereum is truly the king of all altcoins.

Ever since XRP took over the 2nd position, i knew it was not going to last. The updates that were being announced were just taking profits.

Inasmuch as cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is concerned, decentralization will always take the lead, because that was the purpose of creating blockchain.

This is just the beginning. The Bakkt approval has not yet been lunched, other proposed milestones have not started and this is happening (eth on position 2).

What if the updates are eventually integrated, we might see ethereum at 0.05 BTC per ETH.

Welcome back to Ethereum. Ethereum is not only the king of the altcoin, but also the king of ICO. I think the potential of Ethereum is still very high.

Well, another thing other than hardforks and Baakt, is the Ethereum 2.0, I am not sure if it is the constantinopole but I read a few and they said it is Serenity. Not sure, but the main thing is, the Ethereum really is a best altcoin so far.

Now everything in Ethereum depends on the next update. Ethereum price will rise very fast if there is a positive and non-problem development.

0.05 ETH is a reasonable. If it hits within this month, I would not hesitate to put some of my follars into ETH since I have sold all at $200. Anyway, I don't think we need bakhht or whatever it is. We need potential growth which will last long, not some kind of pump and dump.

Ethereum is preparing for their new updates and hark-fork and we can see a bright future for Ethereum in particular and ETH's community in general. Not so far, the value of ETH will go together with its price

I am sure that 2019 will be bringing in many good changes that the whole marketplace will be appreciating and this can all lead to cryptocurrency maturing and getting connected with the common people in terms of use and adoption. Ethereum will always be in the forefront of these changes and with many nice and expert people behind it working day and night to make Ethereum be the leader as it should be then all I can say is that its future is definitely looking bright and lucrative. The ICO platform will soon be undergoing changes and I know that Ethereum knows this trend and will be there to assist these changes. Definitely, Ethereum is here to stay and will always be the top altcoin.

Or it will be even more if POS will be fully implemented to the ethereum platform and I suggest you read the whitepaper, even the smallholders of ethereum can take their advantage from the platform if POS will be launched. that gives an opportunity to create another big FOMO to drive ether to the moon.

I'm also one of those people that's hopeful with the Bakkt.

But with the current replacement of ETH > XRP, people are buying it for the upcoming fork (constantinople).

It is too early to say that, perhaps this is just a temporary reaction to the upcoming upgrade of Ethereum. In the long term, can Ethereum keep his duck, it is uncertain.

Ethereum has been maintaining this position for quite some time now, while XRP only took over for a short while, which means it did not have a lasting effect.
From all submissions and with the advent of some of the new developments, I  will definitely outrun any competitor.

I've been talking about this from the beginning. No altcoin will rise before Eth starts to rise. When they said this, people, unfortunately, spoke about the end of eth. But it's all right now.

It is good to see ethereum regaining the second spot on the log. Most of the altcoin is good but ethereum is well positioned ahead of them. Ethereum suffered some setbacks of recent, let's hope it is time to count profit again.

True lovers of ETH know this from day first, ETH was just testing the patience of their customers. Fake lovers of ETH have sold all of their ETH, now in market there are only true fans of ETH. It will be at the top soon. Now fake tokens should be finished from the market. There should be criteria for every token that it should be listed on any exchange before launch. Yes ethereum is the king all of ico and altcoin, many ICO always use eth as their payment platform and make ethereum become more populer altcoin than other coin.

Not today but for sure soon it will happen. Ethereum will be king at the right year maybe in the year 2021 or 2022 lets wait for that year and for sure those people who have a lot of ethereum will be earn more money because they patient will be reward.

ICOs can also affirm that it is the king and that is the plain fact. At least, we are starting the new year, with the hope that this year holds good  for the crypto space.
Attaining 0.05 BTC is also possible from the situation of things on ground. Ethereum is really growing fast , unlike what i expected.

ethereum is not the only best altcoin, there are still many other altcoins that are also promising ... only if we see eth prices so far more stable than other coins...

eth really is the king, i can say not just alts but even bitcoin will hail eth soon, ripple is just a pure hyped token that does not really have any real usecase, ripple protocol can operate without xrp itself. and Btc becomes really obsolete so eth is the one who will reign as king.

I still believe that Ethereum is the altcoin with the most potential, but to continue to be a valuable cryptocurrency, scalability issues must be addressed and solved in the future, otherwise, I think it will never reach again its previous ATH.

Even though the price is not stable but until now I think ethereum is still the best altcoin, it is not doubtful that this coin still has good potential and does not lose if you start to invest in this ethereum

Ethereum is not yet done and it is proving that it is still the best among altcoins, which I believe it is. Even if the fork is done, there will still be more updates later in future.
It has long been predicted that ethereum will half the price if bitcoin, which will likely happen, but it is not yet time.
I still hold unto the believe that it is the king of all altcoins and not ripple that some people thought of.

Every year ETH usually experience some kind of challenges and the price will go down, only to pick back up later.early adopters will remember there was a time it was hacked and the price fell, then after it still got up. There are also lots of things that followed after that but it still got to the No.2 spot after everything . ETH is always ruling when it comes to altcoins ,the only cryptocurrency it can’t top is Bitcoin.

ETH is going back to it's regular price which I consider around 0.1BTC
I have invested in ETH when the price was around at 0.26BTC Seeing the market today gives me a good feeling. Currently it's 0.04+BTC

Crypto market has still a long way to go and it's too early to tell anything like that Ethereum is the king. There are some good competition of Ethereum already. We will know in future who will dominate the industry.

This hype is not for a long time for your info. Because of the upcoming hardfork, it's getting huge pump and people will dump instantly after the fork happen and eth will be back to 3rd position again.

I think the competition is still wide open between ripples and eth.
but I agree that eth is able to rise again and reach a new record in terms of price value, but the process and growth will not occur immediately or in a short time.

Ethereum is really king of all cryptocurrency. But let see if there is new coin born in cryptoworl that can compete ethereum to become king too. the only king now is bitcoin. bitcoin is the king of all altcoins in the market today. maybe a lot of projects use smartcontrac ethereum, but the average project doesn't have trading volume. and ethereum is home to Shitcoin in the market.

I think if you mention the king about coins that are worth mentioning is BTC and the second one is ETH. even though both of them have been decreasing for several months in terms of value prices with the emergence of new coins listed in the exchange market, a number of days have begun to change towards increasing prices.

For sure, the king of the coins is bitcoin ..  for now. Point is, when its about altcoins, ETH really is pretty much in the front. Point is, why do you forget about IOTA, DASH and XMR?
In my opinion, IOTA is a lot more scalable, therefore a lot more useful in the future. Dash has pretty much most things ADA wants to implement (in the future) already there lying around and Monero is just the only real privacy coin.

If you see only the market condition your statement is right in crypto market. But all are watching the marketcap so Ethereum is stay in second place and it is stay in a king of altcoin. I think you disappoint in recent market so keep watching the future days because again market will going to moon.

Well, it was expected due to continuous fluctuations in the market ETH value was down now it has recovered and I guess the hard fork effect is yet to come if this happens the value will go up again.

   I agree. The crypto market has been created to be decentralized and so must remain. Ripple knows it's a controlled currency, and that does not inspire confidence. I also want crypto to remain and even grow and expand because with crypto, the problem of financial transactions will be resolved because crypo is more decentralized and has many advantages over conventional currencies, especially because the value of conventional currencies is decreasing so we really need crypto so we don't have to carry a bag of money just to buy something that is actually cheap and things like that have actually happened to countries whose politics have many problems

Some coins in the crypto space have proven to have value and one of which is ethereum. If I am told that ethereum can attain a price of $1000 before this year ends, I will not deny it. It has a vast community. So many are interested in buying it  and they do not want to miss out, most especially now that a fork is coming up. ETH has already gone past $150 and it is still growing.

Ethereum still retains the status of the king of altcoins. Although had some competitors, but so far it is still the most popular altcoin and investors are still interested in it.

Lately, I don't think Ethereum is; though,  before at the beginning when altcoins where beginning to emerge we could argue that it was but not anymore because there are better coins than it. There are prominent altcoins like EOS, ADA, Stellar and many more. This coins has more attractive ideas that makes it stand ahead of Ethereum.

With ethereum back at no. 2 spot in markwt capitalization and with the lineup of upgrades starting from 2019 to 2020, ethereum is definitely considered as the king of altcoins. The upgrades might be the events that trigger the ethereum bull run.

Let's wait for hardfork. In the past, it has already been announced this hardfork and at the last moment it was postponed. If this time, something similar happened, the price can go hardly down.

I also like the fact that XRP got pushed back and hope that people won't dump ETH after the fork like they did with many other coins. Buy before the fork - dump everything after is so greedy and stupid and people are still doing it. Shame!

Ofcourse the Ethereum is the king of the altcoins! All coins and everyone need ETH platform for transactions. The ETH price falled down already too much and it will raise for sure. The Ripple tried to surpase the ETH but as we see today the ETH is recovering and passed away the XRP. I believe that its price will catch $400 level in first 6 months of 2019.

ETH is the most popular altcoin for every investor, some projects have made ETH continue to grow even though previously the ETH position was taken over by Ripple but it can be handled well.

It has been considered from the first time, Ethereum is the best crypto after BTC. However, because of the drop price so far, it has been seemly collapsing so that many people lose hope and trust of the coin. However, I also do believe that this ethereum is still the best altcoin, hopefully it will really have its great value again, at least in $500

Postponed for better reasons ? I wonder if this proof of stake could be really an improved version. Proof of work did take a lot from miners and was moving towards specialized units like bitcoin did and so forth but stake doesn't really have a long term benefit of pace like miners had.

Miners could get bigger and bigger and allow more and more transactions whereas stake needs to technologically improved because the amount of coin on wallets staking can't get past a certain level hence it would be difficult to support too many transactions after a while.

Miners are in theory unlimited, you can turn every single computer in the world into ethereum miners which is insane but at least shows in theory it becomes so big that you can have 100 billion dollars changing hand and not have a single second stop whereas stake has a limit. Ethereum is faaaar away from those troubles right now but I just hope it won't cause that type of troubles in the distant future.

I remember, 5 years ago before ETH on 2nd position, LTC become the king of all altcoin.

It is obviously known fact that ethereum is best tool in order to get idea about altcoins and new projects(ICO). Almost  altcoin prices are depend on one factor which stabilize this change. In my opinion this year a lot of altcoins will disappear due to low marketcap and decreasing interest but ethereum will keep it's role in this industry till get replaced with better alternative.

You have forgotten the fact that ethereum has been operating since 2015 and already then had real results. Throughout 2017, ethereum was in second position, so what is happening now is not surprising.

Yes, right, the fact is that the history of ETH coins towards the ICO project has the greatest potential with a strong ERC-20 platform and token. yes. ETH is the king of altcoin. but I think to be king forever. Yes, if the price of Ethereum cannot be recovered, many of the tokens issued to Ethereum cannot be recovered. But I think Ethereum is still the second cryptocurrency. Other coins cannot be surpassed. Bakkt can't immediately affect the cryptocurrency market.

Thank you for this post. I am sure that most guys do not understand the cryptocurrencies - they simply invest in the tokens that are the most popular for now. However, here I will support the majority - ETH can be called a king of the alts.

Without any doubt ETH is a good potential altcoin. Time will say, will it be a king or not.Though it has shown the possibility. But its wide acceptance proved that it is the king of all alt.

Ethereum has been taking over the altcoin market for a long time and then overtaken by ripple this year. But only for a short while as ethereum took back the crown shortly. Although ripple has the support of the financial institutions like banks, I think the ethereum blockchain, especially its smart contract application has more usefulness than XRP.

ETH is the king for almost a year but dethroned by XRP last December. ETH is so good, and it manage to get back on top of all altcoins again. There’s no doubt on this one and I know we can still see a higher value of ETH in the coming monhts. The king that we should follow more in the future.

Ethereum is the most capitalized altcoin and the most trusted cryptocurrency platform as it is evidently shown by amount of investment going into ethereum platform. We have also seen great project raised billion through  ethereum platform successfully.

At this moment, despite of the negative market behavior, Bitcoin still, is the 'king' of all cryptos. Indeed there is an expected hardfork in Ethereum this year and it could be its chance to be on top of the cryptos but since it is still only a possibility at this point,  there's no assurance yet, so we better just wait for things to occur and hope that there will be positive changes in the market behavior not only for ethereum but to the whole cryptomarket or as for the majority of crypto industry.

many say that ethereum is the king of all altcoins. maybe because a lot of bounty tokens use the ethereum platform. but has anyone ever think, if ethereum is king, it should be able to control the altcoin price, like bitcoin can control the altcoin price. What do you think ?

We can't tell that Ethereum is the king of ALTCOINS though i can consider it as KING of ICO investment as it is the main currency use in every ICO PROJECT.
As we saw before the year ends, XRP beat ETH in the Coinmarketcap ranking and now ETH got it again.
IF ethereum can get thhe 10 billion gap again we can see that is getting better but i know ETH will bounce back once again.

You got a point still they are exchanges which are listing altcoin pairs with ethereum as base currency. It means ethereum is also deciding the price of those altcoins as per your perspective view. Still, I just wonder deciding the worth of one coin will qualify a base currency as the king ?

The king is facing down fall right now due to various rumors about its hardfork moreover the exact reason for downfall is not clear yet.

Altcoin industry is older as bitcoin, it means it is already 10 years of old. But ethereum was introduced just 2 to 3 years back only. Before ethereum litecoin was having the highest value among major altcoins. But I was not seeing any discussion at those times like claiming litecoins as the king ? Moreover, these are all just what people are claiming themselves and it has nothing to do with the development or markets of altcoins nor with ethereum's ecosystem too.

Ethereum is very popular here in cryptocurrency and people are crazy about Ethereum. Most of the ICOs use ETH network to collect their fund and it is very potent and it has a great future. After bitcoin, Ethereum is the only trusted coin to the investor. So after bitcoin, Ethereum is the king of all altcoins.

Even with the hard fork of Ethereum , there is no possibility that it can replace or overcome bitcoin. Bitcoin is the main currency and no other currency can overcome it. Many new projects are coming up and some have even more features than bitcoins, but none of them is in a position to come even near the bitcoin.

Ethereum needs to develop and scale, otherwise competitors will catch up with it. Now many ICO are moving to other platforms or to their own. So the only way to keep first place is to develop.

This is pretty obvious, because at least 50 percent of all existing altcoins are based on Ethereum blockchain and every single ERC-20 token depends on Ethereum and follows its price movements. Hope ETH will get the second position back soon.

I would say more than 50% are based on ERC-20 and Smart Contracts. Although it has gotten back it's 2nd post, XRP has regained it back but there's nothing to worry about. Ethereum still enjoys the support of the community and it will bounce back for sure. We just need more patience here, no need to panic sell ETH and it's better to purchase them will it's at a bargain.

The king of altcoins is a rather controversial statement. The king of the altcoins must be the coin with the best features and obviously with a larger capitalization.

I guess I want to approve that, because most of the altcoins were created by a smart contract in ethereum blockchain network. So ethereum coin is their main foundation on their token, so it is just right to say that ethereum was the king of all altcoins.

Ethereum block chain is big supported to the new ico coins and all coming ico are also preferring to the ETH without their own block chain because they trust on the ehterum.

until now, even though the ripple back into the second position but that does not change the state of any kind. ethereum remains the King of altcoin and became King of the ICO. Indeed this may be difficult for the time being ethereum but potential and opportunities for ethereum to ride wide open to being or strengthened the position of both of them again in the future.

What OP is saying is just based on his opinion because so far, ETH was not able to hold its spot, it has decline and XRP move into the top spot

Yes, that can easily be. Because a lot of great events are planned for the first half of 2019 year that can become triggers for he whole crypto market. On the other hand speaking about ETH in particular we have to remember that at the moment its blockchain has a lot of disadvantages which if not solved can easily drown the coin forever. Because there are much more better blockchains at the moment which are real competitors to ETH.

Ethereum is good, but I don’t know if I should still call it the kind of altcoins lol. I’m saying this because Ripple (XRP) has been probing quite stubborn for it recently. You can remember that late December XRP was able to take the second position from ETH and just around January ETH took back the position, not until last week and XRP is back to second position again with $13 billion, while has dropped down to third with a market cap of $12 billion.

Ethereum is always the king of all altcoins. It does not mean that ethereum has lost its charm and strength just as XRP beat ethereum by the market capitalization. It is just a matter of time that any coins can defeat any one in the competitive market. Its prices have been down as the market is in severely pain. However, it will see an increment in prices and its technology will be upgraded as its hard fork is taking place. Good for ethereum.

Up until today, Ripple still having the 2nd place for it, and it seems like the gap between it and Ethereum is getting wider than yesterday. But i will surely came back on how it was, when ethereum taking the 2nd place again.

I think your statement is right. Because until now many ICO basic on ERC20. we can ethereum as king of ico too. So ETH will always be the king of altcoin when ico still based on erc20 token.

Even though ethereum's value dropped but this coin remains the best altcoin, I am sure and believe that ethereum will return to its original position and surely it takes a short time for ethereum to get back up and run normally again

I think eth it is a most popular altcoin , king of ico(token erc20), also have good potential for scalability.

Though the price is now lower, ethereum still is the king because it supports mostly of the platforms. Even more altcoin comes on the market, nothing can beat it because its function is unique. Ripple cannot stay longer on the position becausw there is no other  next to bitcoin aside from ethereum.

If believe the latest news, the update called Constantinople - may be once again postponed indefinitely, as I understand it - the team that is responsible for implementing this new protocol stated that there is a risk of a hacker attack, and it must be eliminated. I do not fully understand what is happening with ETH.
It is very unstable lately. And the price of ETH rises and falls more than the price of BTC. (I'm talking about the percentage).
I think the next global ETH update will be very important for all ETH holders.
Will ETH be able to defeat the problems? Will the developers be able to prove that ETH is the 'king' of ICO still? I dont know.

Ethereum has high potential to increase base on the development around the token, there will be an impact on it after the hardfork, thou several altcoin are competing strongly with ETH, sure the developer will work on sustaining the position
