Title: Vitalik Buterin vs Dan Larimer
Post by: Abiky on January 02, 2019, 05:14:12 PM
Which of the cryptocurrency project advisors is the best? Will it be Vitalik Buterin of the Ethereum blockchain or Dan Larimer of the EOS blockchain?

In my opinion, Vitalik is the best as he is quite knowledgeable about things related to Blockchain like no other. He's always active within the community, and it's more of a public figure as everyone has their eyes on him for the future direction of Ethereum. On the other hand, Larimer is knowledgeable about the Blockchain too but not at the level of Vitalik. He's managed to launch several projects such as Bitshares, Steem, and now EOS (which is said by many to be the true Ethereum killer).

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Is Vitalik better or Dan? ::)

They are both smart, Vitalik has led more successful projects imo. Advisors in crypto are a joke though, no one knows how much work they actually do.

not that I don't like Vitalik, but we also need a new atmosphere so that it's not boring now it works, maybe there's nothing wrong if Dan Larimer becomes an advisor, by combining something new will definitely produce something interesting

That's certainly true, mate. Vitalik has launched a highly successful project (Ethereum), while Dan has also launched several projects which are now running on their own (Bitshares and Steem). Dan's latest project known as EOS, aims to become a true rival of Ethereum due to its high throughput and zero costs. Being a Blockchain developer is not an easy task, and both Vitalik and Dan have been developing rock-solid crypto projects for quite some time now.

It's good for them to become advisors of their respective projects, since it would contribute towards the future direction of the same. As ETH and EOS become popular smart contract platforms over time, Vitalik and Dan would stay head-to-head as rivals with their own respective visions and beliefs.

Nonetheless, both Vitalik and Dan, are one of the smartest persons within the blockchain industry. Perhaps, they're not as brilliant as Satoshi, but they're somewhat close in knowledge to him/she. Just my opinion :)

For me they are both the best on their own way but if I were to choose between the two I think the ethereum blockchain by Vitalik Buterin still gets my full attention knowing how promising ethereum blockchain for us crypto-enthusiasts.

in terms of popularity of network, eth is no doubt superior over eos. i believe the charisma of buterin is also better than larimer. just my impression though. however, popular or not, this is good among crypto users because they are working hard to cater the community in the best possible way they can. with the competition, they will also make sure that they are offering the necessary tools in crypto community. so i have no problem with both of them. they are already integral part of the crypto community.

Buterin has charisma?   ;D

They both are great developers of our time. Their projects still are on top of the market especially ETH. But Dan also has created several projects that I think EOS is the best that he had created.  If ETH didn't exist I think EOS and TRX would have been the ones fighting the smart contracts platform and I think EOS would be the preferred by the developers.

Both have gone through several things tasted both success and failure. Both of them are young energetic youth who were early into bitcoin and remained low profile even after bringing up their project. Both of them had have some degree of criticism but has mostly kept themselves away from discussion about who's and what's good among crypto.
The thing I love about both of them are they don't just blindly believe something. They do priorities their projects but do have positive approach to bitcoin and most other cryptos. Of them Buterin is the most neutral one.

They are not advisors because they are CEOs, so their ideas won´t be objective and unfocused. As a real advisor, I see Anthony Pompliano, that helps with a crypto adoption a lot by educating people.  8)

Both men are the best in their own stance but I personally see Vitalik as a sound developer and mentor for many in the cryptocurrency market. He has been continually developing the ethereum protocol since 2015 which was her inception and the ethereum has maintained her position as the second largest project in the coin market cap for as long as I can remember.

I'd say that both Vitalik and Dan are "neck-and-neck" when it comes to Blockchain-related knowledge. They've been "on the scene" for a very long time, being the pioneers of many technologies used by popular cryptocurrencies today. Dan Larimer invented DPoS, while Vitalik invented a platform for smart contracts. We now have many cryptocurrencies using DPoS as their consensus algorithm for scalability and efficiency, while at the same time, we have many smart contract platforms which bring decentralized, unstoppable applications for the whole wide world to enjoy. With Dan's newest smart contract platform (EOS) using DPoS, people can interact with dApps in a seamless manner. On the other hand, Vitalik's Ethereum blockchain is a rock-solid platform for smart contracts with decentralization in mind. Being the pioneer of smart contracts, it has been at the forefront of mainstream adoption.

Nonetheless, neither Vitalik or Dan are better from one another. Each have their respective strengths and weaknesses. Their level of knowledge makes them indispensable figures in the crypto community. I hope that we get to see more experts in the crypto/Blockchain space, with the aim of helping the industry grow for the better.  Since both Vitalik and Dan have founded their respective blockchain networks (ETH and EOS), they can be put to good use for the advancement of the smart contracts industry as we know it. Just my opinion :)

This is not a serious comparison. One of them is building the most awesome platform in crypto.
The other builds platforms en masse and they become ghost towns in a year or two time.

Both are smart. But only one of them is here to build and create value for the world.

Good point. We all know how Larimer's past crypto projects turned out to become in the long run. Most of them are practically abandoned or left behind other cryptocurrencies on the market. You can compare Bitshares and STEEM to see for yourself. EOS is Larimer's latest creation, yet its decentralized model has been criticized. Block Producers on the EOS blockchain have been able to freeze accounts in the past, questioning the level of decentralization of Larimer's smart contract platform.

On the other hand, Vitalik's Ethereum blockchain has been doing well since it came into inception back in 2015. The world's most popular smart contract platform is still decentralized without experiencing disruptions whatsoever (AFAIK). There's only been issues regarding smart contracts' security and reliability, but the responsibility lies on individual dApp developers themselves. Despite ETH's limited transaction capacity, it has remained as one of the most decentralized smart contract platforms in the world. This gives ETH a huge advantage over EOS. I know that both figures (Vitalik and Dan) are talented, but I believe that the former has better experience in crypto/Blockchain technology. Time will tell us if their projects will be able to live up to the task as the competition becomes fierce in this emerging industry. Just my thoughts ;D

It is quite clear among crypto users who among them is really doing great job in terms of changing the game in blockchain technology. And the answer is Buterin. He is one of the most important pillars in this new age of cryptocurrencies. But with Larimer, we can forget him but Buterin, nope, not yet at the moment. And once ETH 2.0 is launched, we will see how far they can influence the crypto community and compare what's the status of EOS by then.

I think Vitalik brings more in the table, he is such a influencer and with his deep knowledge, I'm sure majority here will agree that he is the best advisor that you can get in crypto sphere. And I found this:

I don't know if this is still updated or not, but it claims that he is an advisor on 8 projects already.

Well for me and without any hesitation, I would choose ethereum blockchain than EOS blockchain because one factor that I have consider is the Effectivity and the popularity of the the coin. And considering that ethereum still hold the top ranking for altcoin my vote is still for ethereum and its developer Vitalik Buterin.

Exactly. Vitalik has been more involved in the crypto/Blockchain space than Dan himself. Ethereum is in the spotlight right now, whereas EOS is behind it every step of the way. While Dan Larimer invented DPoS and the world's first decentralized exchange, his projects haven't been quite popular as Vitalik's. Consider how Bitshares and STEEM turned out to become after Dan Larimer departed from them. They're now practically abandoned, as the focus has shifted into Dan's latest blockchain project dubbed EOS. But his latest creation is still unable to compete with Ethereum due to its utterly centralized model.

Based on years of experience, Vitalik has a greater level of knowledge regarding crypto/Blockchain tech than Dan himself. They're still prominent figures in the crypto space. But people often admire Vitalik, because of his large contributions to this emerging industry. The fact that Ethereum is extremely popular these days, tell us that Vitalik will be getting all of the attention for as long as crypto/Blockchain exists in cyberspace. Just my thoughts ;D

Both are good Vitali is more  popular and always in the public space. Listened to Larima few days ago, he too is very sound. Being an authority in the blockchain industry is not something that comes easy.

I'll tend to agree with you, Vitalik used to be a bitcoin developer (correct me If I'm wrong), but he sees something different that's why he started his own project and called it Ethereum. And guess what, it become so successful that Ethereum is synonymous to Vitalik Buterin already. So he is very influential to blockchain technology itself and one of the prominent figures and we could say that only Satoshi Nakamoto's name is more recognised than him in crypto space.

I think Vitalik began in the crypto/Blockchain space way before Dan Larimer. Some people consider Vitalik to be Ethereum's version of Satoshi Nakamoto because of his years of experience in the industry. He's an early crypto figure recognized by many people worldwide. Creating the world's first smart contract platform powered by the Blockchain, Vitalik has obtained mainstream recognition unlike any other figure in the crypto/Blockchain space. While Dan invented DPoS and the world's first decentralized exchange powered by Blockchain technology (someone correct me if I'm wrong), most of his projects are now "flying off the radar". Bitshares and STEEM are very unpopular these days in the crypto/Blockchain space. Dan's latest creation (dubbed EOS) mimics Ethereum, so we can't speak of originality here. Many claimed EOS to be the "Ethereum Killer" only to find that they were wrong about it. The level of centralization on EOS is high, making it an unsuitable competitor against Ethereum.

In the end, I believe that Vitalik Buterin will have all the attention in the mainstream world since all the projects he's been involved with, have been widely successful in the mainstream world. Daniel Larimer will still be a prominent figure in the crypto/Blockchain space. But he won't be as recognized the same way as Vitalik. Both figures have their respective strengths and weaknesses which can be used for the advancement of Blockchain technology. By combining ideas, we can make crypto land a better place. Just my thoughts ;D
