Title: How do you see 2019 going for Bitcoin?
Post by: thecodebear on January 02, 2019, 05:26:15 PM
What do you think this year will bring us in terms of price? You can also talk about fundamentals and market adoption to make your case.

I personally see a long bottom perhaps taking the first half of the year, as Wall St slowly enters the market over the course of the year and starts building up momentum in the price as OTC markets get thin on supply and have to buy off exchanges. I think the turnaround will only just get going this year and mostly it'll just be smart money coming in, probably won't see any FOMO happening this year as the general public won't notice Bitcoin again until it breaks through $20k and people not educating in Bitcoin's history realize 2017 wasn't an anomaly. I hope to see LN continue to grow quickly as well and an ETF get accepted by the end of the year. I think we might see $10k at the end of the year, rising from the $3000/$4000s bottom during the second half of the year.

I think this bear market has brain washed many into a stance of : a capitulation bottom, long sideways, then end of the year bull run. What if everyone is wrong and we are at the bottom now, $3k was capitulation and we are going to resume the bull run in the next few months? I have a hard time believing the price action is going to play out like many think, just based on the fact that a large percentage think this is the way its going to happen. Retail drove last bull market, institutions will fuel the next. Be prepared imo.

I thought 7.5k was the top of the last bull run and it went to almost 20k
then I called 4k bottom here and it's already been to the low 3's.
At least for me, even building in huge changes I haven't been aggressive enough.
I think the next halving is the real start of the next bull run, but I am kind of at a loss on what to predict between now and then and how high that run may go.

I'm very conservative. My target for 2019 is breaking $6000 and maintaining it similar to how we did so before that level broke.

2019 will be a great year for those who are looking to average themselves into the market. I usually have a certain part of my main income be sent directly to my savings account, but will use that to buy Bitcoin instead. We won't hover below $4000 for ever, so better utilize current market and buy into people's fear, because once we're starting to go up again people will definitely regret not having bought when they had the chance.

It's only a matter of time before 'is it still a good time to buy at X or Y level?' threads pop up here.

that's a reasonable forecast. i think there's a good chance $3k is close to the bottom and we form an accumulation range around it, much like the $200s in 2015.

whatever happens, i have tempered expectations. i'd be very surprised if we see higher than $10k.

If there will be more interest about bitcoin and possible new investors with big money will come, i think we will have a new all time high for bitcoin and the price can reach 25,000$ in my opinion. Anyway i will still hold what i have and i will get more coins.

In order for new investors to get interested in Bitcoin, those who hold coins now must regain confidence in cryptocurrencies and stop selling them. Only when the price stabilizes, new players will appear on the market, and then we can think about new bull run to ATH.

Expecting first quarter of this year will be a sideways markets. It means we cannot expect anything more than $4300 levels and the second quarter will be the rising market but market may struggle to break $10k levels and the third quarter will be the peak time of this year in which bitcoin may value up to $15k and the last quarter will be again a sideways markets.

This year may have,
high : $15,000 (the fair value of bitcoins)
low : $3300 (a slight down from the current level)
Close : $12k to $10k (downfall from high levels)

By considering the positive news which are going to happen this year and how intensively those news will attract new investors are the core factors being considered for this speculation. All levels are subject to +/- 5% approximations.

Investors are just waiting for the market to calm down, and maybe they will come again if they see some growth and if the ETF is approve by SEC. 2019 might be another tough year for cryptocurrency, but I'm still confident that it can still bring a good price for us. Continue to hold and have more patience, if the price ends on a high note at the first quarter of 2019, expect that it will continue until we end this year.

Just like what others have said, it could either to North or South.

Of course as crypto trader/investors we wanted to see the price going North however the market is really hard to predict. There are 2 important events that may help the market grow again though, BAKKT and Bitcoin ETF, if one of them gets approved then I'm sure we can see some massive growth this year. So let's see how this year pans out.

The only thing I wanna focus is just getting more bitcoins.I'm not going to wait a price pump day after day, because it's kinda frustrating. It's wrong to be have big expectations about the bitcoin price going to increase 3-4 times in one year.

i don't know what "Wall Street" has anything to do with bitcoin and its price rise this year but i still believe that bitcoin is underpriced and in a reverse bubble and that means the price doesn't have much room left to go any lower. as a result there is only rise to come. however it doesn't stop another wave of manipulation but without that i can see bitcoin rising back up in the first quarter of 2019 and by the end of the year we will already be in a bull run.

This is funny, I think that 15k dollars is too high prediction too. But I will go with you on your prediction for the next year, it will be great if we don`t drop more and see some nice little rise to 6k dollars, that`s reasonable and fair. You can never be sure with bitcoin price, I learned my school long time ago. We are already in 2019, day by day we will see and feel everything that 2019 have for us.

At this time ethereum prices are indeed so high, in contrast to the price of bitcoin which is in a fairly stable situation. I am sure that in 2019 we can achieve a much better digital currency market situation. Bitcoin and Ethereum will be together to become a power in the financial system in the world.

My thoughts exactly. We’ll break $4,000 before too long and stay in the $4,000 - $6,000 range for most of 2019 I think.

Now is 100% a good time to buy!

in my personal view, there is still no real recovery seen at this time, but anyhow the possibility that whatever happens is still not really possible we can guess precisely, the many things that will happen naturally. About the opportunity to recover, I can still believe that it will return to altitude, what's wrong if we still believe and remains optimistic.

I'm quite bullish and positive when it's comes to 2019 prices, last year bitcoins prices tanked due to fud and panic sellers but that's not the case this year. As we discuss demand for bitcoins is growing, and one can feel there's positive sentiments in the market that bitcoins prices shall be rising upwards. I believe that the confirmation of Bakkt and approval of Bitcoins Etf shall propel bitcoins prices upwards.

Until now there is no any sign of recovery and until now the price of bitcoin is still down. All of us are waiting and believing in the recovery but in fact there is a small chance of recovery so I do not think that this year it will be good in bitcoin. But for me, in the end of 2019 we might see the full recovery of market and I so exciting on that moment.

For this year there has not been a noticeable change, but all of this will be good and have a high volume. The beginning of the year will be a good moment for bitcoin with various types of speculators that provide increased volume.

Trading volume must be a significant factor for the direction of a market hence you cannot say that we are going to have a year with no noticeable changes but will be having increased volume. There are chances for downmarket with very low volume but usually rising markets will be having increased volume. When bitcoin prices are available for comparatively cheaper, it will obviously attract more new investors then we will be having more volume and a rising market which will lead to a noticeable change most probably ;).

in my personal view, there is still no real recovery seen at this time, but anyhow the possibility that whatever happens is still not really possible we can guess precisely
Recovery always takes more time than the time taken for downfall. We are currently trading at the strongest support level since mid of 2017 hence most probably it will never get broken. It means we are into sustaining phase which is nothing but sideways movements and this must be the sign of recovery for the any market.

The market movement at the beginning of 2019 cannot seem to escape the market sentiment that occurred in 2018 which was dominated by geopolitical factors, manipulation and government ban on cryptocurrency in various countries.

However, along with the existence of protectionism from the United States of America, this finally has caused trade conflicts with the Chinese state, so making the two countries suffered heavy losses precisely in the third quarter of 2018, even at that time Dow Jones lost 608 points, while the Nasdaq index dropped 11.7%.

With the collapse of the stock market in the United States that occurred at the end of the 2018 quarter, it seems that cryptocurrencies will be an alternative for most investors who want to improve their income in the future. And 2019 might be a year of recovery for the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

There is no point guessing in the current situation due to because fluctuation is kept increasing which makes us it will take another year to cross it's previous year high price. We have to wait and see because this year there is much good news and there are many adaptations kept increasing which will help the Bitcoin to cross more than 12000$ easily.

All I can say is go with the flow, we know that the market is unpredictable then if you don't have still profit yet then just hold it until the time comes your profit was there. As what they have said time can tell everything that might happen on the market, so let's just patiently wait until when bull run will come. I think 2019 is more on recovery mode and further accumulation before it finally take off. If you compare this year to 2018, the situation will be better and more positive. But I doubt if a major price rally happen will happen this year because it at least a couple of years before another bulkrun happen. I can only hope that this year there will be less bear market than last year.

That's exactly where I'm at. In 2015, people really gave up hope and forgot about Bitcoin. Sadly, I don't think we've reached that point in the cycle yet. We don't need to go lower per se (though we probably will), but I think we need to experience that painful grind that finally shakes the speculators out of the market. They'll be back when the next bubble ramps up, as always.

You are a crack smoker. Let's call 2019 a good year if it doesn't see 1500 and see's $6k again.

If $3K is near the bottom, then $6K-ish sounds right for the top of the range, going by 2015. If we break down to $1,500 then we should obviously expect lower than that.

Best case scenario, I could see a .382 retrace near the $10K mark but that's pretty ambitious.

The price will stagnate until the next halving. 2019 will be a year where not much will happen. We may see waves of 600-700 but nothing more, and then back to to the past. I would be surprised if BTC hits $8000 this year, I've put myself in hibernation mode until I see something signifiant.

As for people saying 2019 will be big etc. I am just laughing. If 2019 is going to be big then invest everything you can

Thanks for that non bullish opinion, it's a real opinion and I believe that it's sincere coming from you.
For me, I think of the opposite, ETF is big for me and if this will be approve this year, it will bring big money to the market, I would only focus
on that first because I know, the rest of the institutional money will come after that approval.

Your opinion seems so logical to me.
But I believe price can increase in every moment depending on the price volatility. Most people think that the price will move more slowly, but I have seen that volatility still remains at the last price drop. Price just needs movement that could trigger the price.

For me theres nothing good to come this 2019 wall street is not entering the market instead they are sending message of another bearish will come this year

They have predicted of 2019 as continuing to be bullied, while 2020 will bring us fortune, though for me this 2019 is another chance for us to purchase the cryptocurrencies that we think can give us good profit for another whole year of waiting

I have noticed the price is being cut by half each four months, so I think we will visit three digits by the middle of this year.

I dont have any idea how a recovery might happen. There are plenty of good news, projects and innovations. Even the big credit card companies want to enter cryptospace and invest in bitcoin. With all those good news, we should be already back at 6k, but we arent.

ah the timeless art of extrapolation! i won't say it's impossible, but there's a great meme about that:

the current price is the only correct one. good news doesn't automatically translate to higher prices, especially in a bear market. before a reversal can happen, we need sellers to get exhausted and for demand to increase. based on bitcoin's long term bull trend, i think it's just a matter of time.

As of now we are not seen the major improvement in the value of bitcoin and other coins in the crypto market. But lot of investors and lovers of bitcoin are waiting for good days to come in the upcoming weeks of 2019 to enjoy the real profit and celebrate the huge demand and waited mobile which hits highest sale record. It will come back with some unique features.

This economic stall is mostly due to the fact that majority of bubble-centric investors stopped investing in Bitcoin for now. Some of them either sold them all and called it a day while others (the intelligent ones) are able to hold them for the next phase of bull run.

It's kind of a never-ending cycle of trading that is happening and will happen all the time.

Why should there be a major movement in the price? It has gone through a brutal sell-off like 2 months ago, let the market take it easy for a moment. The great thing about a calm market is that people are somewhat forced to look beyond speculation and profits, which is where the fundamentals finally make their appearance.

2019 is the year of the fundamentals, not the price. The price has gone far beyond the fundamentals, and this is the perfect time to catch up on that. Seriously, no coin deserves a pump at this point, and I'm glad that the market isn't doing much right now. Slow/steady growth is all we can ask for, and if we get exactly that, we have done exceptionally well this year.

But lot of investors and lovers of bitcoin are waiting for good days to come in the upcoming weeks of 2019 to enjoy the real profit and celebrate the huge demand and waited mobile which hits highest sale record.
I'm waiting for the day the 'investors' and 'lovers' of Bitcoin you are referring to dump their bags and go back to where they came from.

How to not agree with you guys, we all should be optimists about cryptocurrencies, but who don`t expect fluctuations, roller coaster price is crazy and blind. This year have a great start, at least we are holding over 4,000$ price somehow, its a positive thing. Will we go higher or will we go back where we were is hard to say, time will tell. I will try to stay positive and I hope we will see some higher prices again this year, I doubt in recovery on previous all times high, but why not, I already know that in crypto anything can happen, a lot of us knows that very good, we seen that many times.

Well i guess people are in favor of me when it comes on predicting the bitcoin's value in 2018. I suspect it to be more like its value today for the past 2 to 3 months and will go up after. We have suffered one year on red market and im sure that bulls and bears will stop manipulating now and the market will will start to turn green.

I am bullish in 2019 and from on 1st till now we are having upwards price movement.  I think this year will reward those that invested into bitcoin in 2018 and their investments seems to be in bad shape or loses.  If we actually desiring to make profits in the middle of this year then now should be the right time to invest.  Bitcoin is just a little figure above $4000 and for this first quarter I think it might get to $6000 and the second quarter above $10,000 and as we move towards bitcoin's halving we would see bitcoin above $20,000 in 2020.

while it is possible that price sticks around in $3k-$4k range for a considerable time but i don't think it can last that long like half a year as OP suggests. right now the confidence is still low because of the manipulation and the fear that has created among investors who are waiting on the sideline to enter. but also we should consider the fact that the bear market lasted a very long time for no reason and the last drop was illogical as well since the real bottom was at $6k which was broken purely based on FUD and manipulation due to the BCASH scams.

What form of manipulation are you referring to? I don't see anything hinting at that. People are easy to label price movements as manipulation when it doesn't play out in their advantage.

In 2017 no one complained about manipulation because people were making money, while people have continuously been doing it last year, and very likely this year as well.

Someone with a bigger wallet moving the price doesn't mean it's manipulation. The lack of liquidity is the main aspect to blame, which explains why OTC trading has been gaining a lot of momentum.

Well let just stay positive and well keep on watching on the crypto market price movement. 10K USD is relatively good but it would be better if it will go more than that. As we all know that bitcoin has gone more than that in terms of its market price and so does with the other crypto that made an almost 100% increase of its market price.

However, many speculations fail and that includes that biggest failure in speculating for bull run for the late year of 2018. people expected a bull run to happen unfortunately it didn't and it made worst like it was the opposite of bull run which is the bearish market.

$ 10,000 is a huge number in a panic economy like now. Fiat money is losing value because of rising inflation, the financial market is being severely degraded because of the trade war, ...
We cannot expect such a strong recovery from bitcoin in just 1 year. I think we need to wait longer than 3 years to get that dream price.

I agree, and I will add some things because you said it all

Something that will be difficult to see will be bitcoin reaching $20,000 later this year, so I can say that this will be a year in which the price will be struggling to stay above  $4000, there are many players who want to enter this crypto market and have the decision end of the ETF that we will know in the coming months, but are things that are still difficult to measure the impact that will bring in the price, but at least in this semester we will be struggling to stay above the $4000

As of this posting, BItcoin is struggling to get pass $4000 andstill continues to be volatile. From an observer point of view, As of the current trend carried from last year, the maximal value that it can attain before 2019 will end will only be at about $5000. Let us admit it, more and more poeple are actually finding other currencies to invest in.-- dragging BTC's value to the drain. Some have specualted that these people rae just in hiding behind the value of Tether.

Well that a little bit too gloomy for me. I don't expect  major rise in the price of btc this year but i'm quite confident we'll move at least around 8 to 10k by the end of the year. Still far from the current all time high but something good should happen this year to balance things out.

Bitcoin will still prevail this year, its a fresh start and I can say that the price of BTC stabilized when January started and this could be a good sign for Bitcoin this year.

I think something big is to happen for bitcoin to move up and clear all resistances. Currently it is like 5 to 6% up in few days and then suddenly 10 percent down in a day for bitcoin and this is even more worse for altcoins as alts tends to fall more quickly .

I see a big green candle in my dream last night and I believe its a sign of the next bull run. In 2019 we will be trading at a lot more expensive market, though right now its hard to see the sign but eventually when we recover from the previous trend it will start to pump again and we will welcome the bull market. I am very positive about that and I know its about time for that trend.

It is hard to reach $7k in the short time because as we see that everytime bitcoin price increase, it's always back to go down again and stay in that price level for a while. And in the next week or so, the price will increase again until reaching one level then it's back again, and we see this is happening over and over again. But I still believe that bitcoin will achieve the highest price again like what we saw in December 2017 and we hope it will happen in this year although we cannot reach $19k.

well, but maybe many see that the $ 100 to $ 300 profit is a big advantage and is an opportunity. well, we know that so many people are disappointed by holding back the bitcoin they have had since 2018. but I think that is starting to change again this year. therefore I feel that this year brings something new.
