I got thinking about blockchain thermodynamics due to the amount of heat produced by mining. That led me down some interesting pathways, and I found out that living cells use Proof of Work when transcribing RNA into proteins. Seeing a relationship between thermodynamics and proof of work is easy because it produces so much heat. Proof of stake is much more subtle and leads to some remarkable insights from statistical field theory and social field theory. That article will be ready next week sometime.
