However, institutional investors have been buying cryptocurrencies worth hundred thousands of dollars through OTC markets in order to get the required quantity at their desired price. Going through local exchanges will inflate the price of bitcoin which is unfavorable for them. If they had gone through exchanges, then price of bitcoin will be well above $20k. The good thing is, institutions do not want to miss out on this great technology and they are joining gradually. I believe with time, the effect will be obvious.
