Title: New BPIP report on Bitcointalk.org posts that are "merited the most times"
Post by: Vod on January 05, 2019, 02:28:07 AM
I would like to announce a new report that shows current merit trends in real time  - posts that have received smerit from the highest number of unique senders.

https://bpip.org/r/mostmerited.aspx

There are links at the top for various time ranges.

A subset of the 24 hour report is now shown every time you refresh a BPIP profile.

Thanks again to (@ibminer (https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=ibminer)) for the design!   :)

Seems there's something wrong with the table list in mobile mode as the time of visit, or it's just on me but it's okay in desktop mode.

Very interesting!  I'm not too familiar with CSS but I'll take a look.  Asked ibminer to look at it.  :/

My fault. I forgot to adjust the labelling on the table for the mobile view. Wish I had time to automate this piece but it's the best way I can scale the larger tables down until I have time to write out some jquery to do it for me. The current method works well.. if I remember to do it..  :D

It looks good now. Thumbs up.

This is a great addition, and it works in real time, and can be used to scan the forum for the top posts of the last 24 hours, or any time duration chosen, and can be used as a compass to the most recent quality posts.

Oooohhhh!  ;D The site is getting more fancy and lively :)
Anyways, getting badges is also an achievement for the users, thanks for creating that (It just happened that I saw those badges only this day, though maybe you created that months ago)

Is this for real? Or it changes everytime the site refreshes?
Edited: I didn't notice that it was a 24hr report :)

What an honor to have a badge like that :P

What does this mean? I can't get how's the ranking of posts was made...

Can you add one more column, "merited by"?
It can be useful and it can save time without opening the link of the post to see who merited who.

I think that wouldn't be needed, it was only a summary report of the most Merited Users on their freshly made posts within the day.
There will only be few who will look unto that post to see who Merited them, and I don't find that important to be included on the report (Just My Opinion :P)

The function of that report is not to identify individual smerit senders - it is to identity current trends.

Listing each sender's name would get ugly when a column contains dozens/hundreds of unique senders.

If there is a specific type of report you would like to see, you can suggest it in my BPIP Announcement Thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4746201.0).  :)

Is this for real? Or it changes everytime the site refreshes?

Here is a listing of the top 1000 posters:
https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=mostposts
https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=mostposts&a=1

You have considerably less than the 2,891 posts the person is 1000th place does, so you are ranked as "greater than 1000".  Only the first thousand are shown.

As for this report, there are links hiding at the top that allow you to choose different time frames.

As I post this, I am in first place for merits in the last hour.
https://bpip.org/r/mostmerited.aspx?s=LastHour
While in the last 48 hours, Theymos' ten year post still is number one.

Am I missing something here? I have been merited 3 times today from 4.00 am to till now but I am still not included in the list. I have tried refreshing my profile but it doesn't work. Is that a bug or misunderstanding from my side.
I have misread the thread somehow, sorry.
Thank you cabalism.

It could have worked on you if you have been merited 3 times just on a single post of yours, but as I looked into your history you've been merited 3 times on every single post that you've made.

(Just looking into your profile makes me jealous :( Congrats in advance soon you'll be joining the league of Avatars )

The report defaults to a 24 hour report.

You can bookmark any of the hard coded links to save the reports you want.

Great work!

What is this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3920469.0)?  :o An ANN posted by theymos and the thread full of spam by reputable forum members.  :o Is it some kind of troll? I just saw it today from the list of All time most merited posts (https://bpip.org/r/mostmerited.aspx?s=AllTime).

So you're saying you missed the HoweyCoins train?

Read it, it makes sense for reputable members to post there. What doesn't make sense is the clueless Newbie spam bots (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3920469.msg49057470#msg49057470) treating it as any other ANN spamming with many of their alts.

Am also just seeing this (thanks for sharing) and it reflects the reality of majority of ICOs being launched nowadays.
Very little original idea, lots of hype and investors with little understanding but looking to get rich in a matter of days.
There are of course still good ICOs and STOs in the market.

Well, it doesn't concern you enough as I think, you're not even reputable as LoyceV says :) And I think there's no need for you to be involve., just spend your time learning and reading :)

You'll notice a difference.  The one you linked ranks by sum... my reports rank by count.

Hello Vod.
Congratulations on your work, amazing. Sadly none of my posts are in of those pages (last week, last24h, last year etc).

I tried to search for my profile and found this error message. I am using Android.

I just put my name in the search field.

Looks like an issue with the master page for the new /r directory.

Fixed - thx!

Read it

I just did  ;D I wish I used to visit Altcoin Announcements section so that I could have a laugh too at that time, and throw some posts in there as well.  ;D

I didn't see the appeal of this at first, but then I stumbled across some good threads I had missed.  Nice work.

This is a fantastic tool for finding good posts. Very simple and it works very well. Unfortunately most of the posts most merited in the last hours will usually be posts in WO, which I do not have much interest in reading.

Great functionality! I made a review of the new functionality in Russian (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5094190.0). Do you mind?

I've been enjoying the new report. I've found posts on the report I don't believe I would have found otherwise, or at least would have taken me a while to come across. theymos' recent (or slightly re-posted ;)) topic about Satoshi's Lessons is one example of this, and I'd guess there could be some use cases for spotting potential merit abuse with the report. Thanks Vod!
