Title: BiteBTC Scam
Post by: Waterwings on January 06, 2019, 04:59:04 AM
Beware of doing business with BiteBTC. They claim they had a fire in the data centre, and data has been lost. I have never heard of a "big" company keeping the backup servers in the same location as their primary servers, for this very reason.
Many of us lost access to our accounts. They ask us to fill is a form. But what form??. Nothing is attached to the email. And now 5 days later still no communication ???

In solidarity crypto currencies should remove themselves from this exchange. By listing with them you are damaging your brand's image.

Format your accusation properly: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0

BTW coins can't remove themselves from an exchange. A decentralized cryptocurrency can be used by anybody, including a crappy exchange.

Check their own twitter account. You will see the complaints.
I am not alone in this

Important statement
03/01/2019

On January 1, 2019, a fire occurred in the data center where the exchange servers are located, as a result of which part of the data on the main and backup servers was destroyed.

All crypto coins wallets are safe, but we need time to restore the balance sheets and trading history of about 7% of traders from earlier backups.

We ask to fill in the form to the support service with the indication of your recent transactions and operations with wallets.

We apologize and ask to treat this situation with understanding.

BiteBTC.com Uniquely Fails Proof of Keys

Proof of Keys is an event fomented by longtime Bitcoin investor Trace Mayer. It reminds exchanges of the importance of solvency and that Bitcoin belongs to its owners. It also encourages Bitcoiners to remember that they only truly own the Bitcoin for which they possess the keys. Some exchanges were said to be “failing” the event.

BiteBTC has failed spectacularly. The question of solvency is only one that needs to be answered.[...]

Doesn't sound good, exchanges should have a backup server in a cloud location. An even better idea is to have redundant servers in other locations so if there is a fire it won't effect trading. Hopefully it will be resolved amicably
