This is the ~3rd or so "VIA" auction I've seen. What's up with that? Outside of these forums, hardly anyone I know trades or discusses VIA. Plus its a coin with ~$120,000 traded daily (which is nothing) ???. So yea, just confused over the obsession. A group of us just started using Viacoin for the fast confirms and low fees and it worked well. Viacoin has a solid team behind it and it solved a need for low fee quick transactions. Viva la Via! And as LC said it indeed has a few usecases like cheap segwit transactions and so on. Interesting mining algorythm as well, which keeps the network hash rate relatively high and makes it not so prone to 51% attacks.

He joined the Viacoin development team to work on OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY, which is needed for Lightning Network/atomicnswaps. Viacoin actually was the first cryptocurrency to integrate it.
