Title: Hi everyone, let's talk about Bitcoin
Post by: BitGrind3r on January 15, 2019, 10:44:11 AM
Hi everyone!

I'm happy to be part of this forum now. I followed this community for a bit when I knew Bitcoin & cryptocurrencies, but never had any active participation here. However I think I can contribute to the growth of cryptocurrencies communites so I have just signed up on bitcointalk.org to try give out my help where and if needed.

I'd love to hear why you started following Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and what you think about the upcoming future for all this exciting and groundbreaking technology.

Lately I am focusing on quantum resistant currencies because I strongly think that quantum resilience will be one of the main points for blockchain scalability in the near (4/5 years) future. What do you think about?

Welcome to the forum mate. One secret I'll disclose to you is making use of the right board,  it'll help you a lot. Bitcoin Disscussion are mostly for the bitcoin discussion board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0/). You post here when you need help/guides or you want to give guide/help as the name of board implies.
Concerning you questions why I started following bitcoin and cryptocurrency, it was because of the technology behind it (giving freedom over your fund) plus the possible future price gains I saw are what encouraged me to start following it since 2015 till date.

Welcome to the forum. If you are a bitcoin follower from 2013 then you must be one of the lucky persons who came in early and accumulate some coins at a much lower price. If that is the case then great. I am sorry to say I was not among the early followers, so there is nothing I can do about it now. In my opinion quantum resistance is not so important even though some people actively push this agenda. It is good to have quantum resistant currencies just in case some abrupt computer technology development changes the scene. But I doubt that will happen soon and I think there is no real danger to the current coins which are not resistant, at least for years if not decades from now.

Thanks for your input. :)

Why do you think quantum computing is not a real threat to blockchain and actual elliptic curve based cryptography? The whole internet privacy as we know would be broken in the event of a QC sudden advance in that field of technology. I think this is one of the hottest topic to keep an eye on for the future coming.

Yes, it would affect elliptic curve cryptography but there are many aspects to the problem:

Besides by the time quantum computers have become a real danger to the algo, bitcoin will have moved on with its development.

Not very techy but hey, welcome to the forum although you're older than me to get in and has been involved to the economy for quite a long time. I've been reading some future insights about quantum computers and some are very positive to it but there's always a division of opinion regarding that.

I'm not sure on where we will be going by that time but I think we're still far from that day where intervention with quantum computers to crypto happens.

Hello there, yes, Bitcoin has the potential to transform the traditional payment system in a way that can optimise the utility value of our time.  However, I am concerned about the user base which is restricting crypto in speculation activities instead of looking at it from a broader angle. Adopting Crypto transactions among our day to day activities would definitely give more advantages as compared to that of speculation activities but negativity from the government is an obstacle to the growth of this innovation.

You welcome to the forum if you had been following the forum since 2013 and had not registered it sounds unbelievable in my own opinion except you had joined previously with another account either way welcome once again.
Well I started following cryptocurrency last year ending although some might see it as the wrong time but I don't I still believe cryptocurrency has a whole lot to offer

I won't be so sure that the time of QC is still so far away...
