Title: Airbitz becoming Edge
Post by: G3nijalac on January 15, 2019, 12:13:03 PM
Hello,

I have logged into my Airbitz the other day and got a message that it will no longer be reciving updates
and that I should download Edge wallet and use the same credentials to log in and use it.

I want to know more about this situation and reasons behind it occuring.

In my opinion Airbitz was the best mobile wallet out there due to nice interface simplicity of use and high functionality.

I am wondering if its safe to keep using it still without the updates? Or is it too risky?

How long ago did Edge come out? How does it compare to Airbitz?

Are there any known issues with Edge at the moment?

If i decide to get it should I uninstall Airbitz afterwards or can I use both simultaneously?

Thanks for helping.

You seem to have not been logged in for a long time to your Airbitz account, or they have some transitional period in which you can use both apps. According to the information available on their website Airbitz becomes Edge in October 2017, it's actually a classic rebranding.

Since it is same wallet with only a different name, it would be best to stop using Airbitz and switch to Edge. You will probably get a better user experience and regular updates, which is very important for you coins.

I am not sure can you use both apps at the same time, but that certainly makes no sense...

Airbitz is now Edge! (https://edge.app/blog/airbitz-is-now-edge/)

Keep using the one that suits you better.

Looks like the Airbitz app wasn't just abandoned by the devs (I assume it's still safe since the last update was just 4 months ago, while the new Edge app was updated 1 month ago). However, the Edge app will probably be the one to get all the attention, updates, new features, etc... so, if you can change to the new app.

I'd suggest you switch to Edge as soon as possible. Even though the updates might not stop completely in the near future, it's highly possible that the developer focuses more on Edge, therefore the security risk of Airbitz is greater than Edge.

Uninstall Airbitz, and use Edge. You'll save your memory too by doing that.

In the beginning, I avoided the switch to Edge and honestly was willing to continue to do so, until I had a problem with a porn website (with live video) that used Bitcoin and Ethereum...
I've to be honest and say that this rebranding was cleverly done and offers more than the predecessor Airbitz, so in my opinion, you should go directly for Edge.
