Title: Restore wallet from recovered data from the phone (android 4.4.2)
Post by: tumis on January 15, 2019, 01:34:41 PM
Hello

According to the good tutorial, I managed to restore appropriate data from the device memory (after factory reset). (Phone samsung galaxy s4 9505)
[I took a snapshot of the device using Cygwin on the memory card. The whole operation went smoothly. Then I changed the image to .vhs  (14,68 GB) ]

Now I don't know if I can get anything from it. And how to it?
I have reached this point >>>>

I didn't know what to choose to restore so I chose what was the default (Microsoft Ntfs and Legacy Fat/Fat32 only)

Would've been so much easier just to back up your wallet......

Have you any idea of where the file will be? Did cygwin recover the data or was that just used to image the disk, if it was the second then what did you use to recover it , if it's the first them try checking Google as to how it recovers.

Android file system don't use NTFS or FAT/FAT32, most devices uses ext4 so you should select "ext2, ext3,ext4, ufs, ufs2, etc.", otherwise you won't able to find your wallet files or other data you have.
You also need to know where the wallet keep wallet file, but most times it's placed on Android/data/<application directory>

According to the image, it seems that you recovered the system files and some of the files you recovered are the file inside the bootloader(a firmware where you can use to reflash the phone using Odin) like the sbl1.mbn and sbl2.mbn.  It looks like the procedure you are following is the procedure on how to back up the program?

I don't think you can use those files to restore them to your phone.

Let me ask if what method or procedure did you follow?
Can you provide the URL here?
Maybe we can find the answer from the procedure so that we can tell you exactly what you should do next?

Before trying to start over again with these painstaking procedures,
can you tell us what mobile wallet was it and if you have a backup of the SEED of your wallet?
Because mostly all mobile wallets are HD like Electrum and can be restored using the SEED Phrase (8, 12 or more set of words).
If you have it, simply reinstall the wallet and select the appropriate options for restoring wallet via SEED.

AFAIK, if he successfully backed-up or restored the full image of the bootloader and the System Files: ROM (as they call it), he can use it to fully restore the Data directory since the "Internal SD card" was included in it (ROM).
But by looking at the left side of the image, it seems like there were problems in the process.

Thank you all for your answers!
i should look for it:  wallet.dat (but im not sure).
I'm not sure the name of the application but it looked like on this screenshoot.
Unfortunately, I didn't keep (no SEED ;/)  the keys because they were not.
At that time there were no seeds yet.

According to this topic  (my case)  : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2855646.msg29303562#msg29303562
and photo (my screnshoot made before factory reset):

Once I copied "manually" [ctr+c /ctr+v ;/;/]  photos and other files before factory reset)
It was 2014 - 2015. Phone, Samsung Galaxy s4

Thanks, I will see what can be done.

If I can't find this file in the image of the whole memory it's not going to do anything?
Or maybe there are some other programs if I wasn't able to do so?

I like testdisk...

You could pay someone to recover it professionally if it's worth it. Although I can't say they won't just use the same tools.
