As soon as you start making posts that:
  • Are interesting enough for people to actually give you any merit (they have to be original to)
  • Are posted in the correct subforum (not like this post)

You need one merit to be a Jr.Member even after you reach 30 activity.

To get you the next rank-Jr. Member, you need to earn at least 1 merit for a quality forum post. Try to write a post that will be useful to users.

If you still have any questions regarding merit, ranking up, activity or anything relating to them then there is a great sticky in this very section written by hilariousanco

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0

Bottom-left hand side of your own thread, you will be able to lock a thread once you've received sufficient responses. Otherwise spammers will flood the gates!

This is a perfect example of how members spending most of their time posting (updating their bounty requirements) rather than reading anything here in the forum are posting dumb questions that have been answered hundreds of times already. His account is created almost after a year since the merit system was introduce yet he still thinks that the old ranking up solely via Activity still exists. He isn't really here for the interest of cryptocurrency but for the interest of earning money. Pretty soon he will realize that he needs to earn merit in order to rank up and you will notice this guy will be posting shit up just to earn one or if he becomes desperate he will start begging for those sMerits of yours.

OP's post:

To most people, cryptocurrencies are typically thought of as high-risk investment. However, what is getting somewhat lost amid the hype and speculation is that most decentralized digital currencies, such as bitcoin, were created to ‘do something’ and so have a wide range of powerful use cases. Here are some

1 Low cost money transfers
2 Alternative store of wealth
3 Make private transactions
4 Fund raising
5 Invest in innovative early-stage startups

....is plagiarized from here (https://bravenewcoin.com/insights/10-awesome-uses-of-cryptocurrency).  Reported, welcome to bitcointalk.

;D I don't understand why he plagiarized. Is this the farmer's bounty account?

Likely because he knew he needed one merit to rank up and thus had to make a very good post to get it.  Not being very proficient in English, he decided to take the path that many new members take and just copy/paste something useful from the internet and claim it as their own.

That's my guess, but it doesn't really matter.  He's not the first to do it and certainly won't be the last, and this is also a good example of why giving merits to Newbies is so difficult.  You have to check to see if what looks to be a decent post is plagiarized, because only rarely does this forum attract new members proficient in English.

Most new members come here to make money and can only do so in the main sections where they're forced to write in a language that frankly they're not typically very good at.  It wouldn't be a problem if bounties and sig campaigns paid for posts in the local boards, but alas that's usually not the case.

Unfortunately, for newbies, who are fishing for some merit, this is the correct subforum (they think)...
At the first time, newbies just asked how to get merit in Meta and they had been given, so maybe they saw this or heard about it before...

@OP ~ In my opinion, you really got no chance of getting merit since your post history is only composed of bounty reports and applications. Do you think those kind of posts are worth to receive merits? I don't think so. Another problem is that you are now neg trusted which is a big hindrance to rank up. All I can say for you is good luck.

Hi you, you should read the rules for newbie of forum again. You must have merit enough to level up to Jr.member. The way that you want to get merit is be awarded by posting profit knowledge of yours.
