To be fair, a pyramid scheme is not necessarily a scam if it is acknowledged to be a pyramid scheme. Early "investors" will indeed get double their money back, at the expense of the later investors.

Think of it as speculation: "I wager that I will be in the first half of investors." Or really earlier than that, depending on what kind of a cut the "scammer" takes.

Of course, that doesn't make it a smart investment.

Yeah, it's possible to make money off scams, but I think it's somewhat immoral since you're encouraging the scammer to scam and directly and/or indirectly encouraging others to be scammed. But it's not the worst immoral act, so I don't really care if others do it. I just don't like to participate myself. Although I must admit, sometimes it is tempting to get in while the going is good.

Must... resist...

I don't like to either, but I haven't been able to swear off dollars yet.

The average IQ may be higher here than the forums with titles like "MAKE MONEY AT HOME THE EASY WAY DOT COM"

I was hoping for excitement, so do not conceal that it is a pyramid

Pyramid schemes are not just a scam, but illegal in many jurisdictions and can have even larger consequences.  There was one pyramid scheme that before it ran out of steam ended up collapsing the entire economy of Albania as a substantial number of people (including many government employees) got caught up into the concept and lost their shirt.  It led to a political overthrow of the government.  That is the stuff that really make financial regulators really sweat when they see a pyramid scheme.

Even "legal" schemes like Amway or other "multi-level marketing companies" (to me a very poorly disguised term for a pyramid scheme) have their problems and I know personally many people who have unfortunately been shafted from their involvement in those companies.  At the very least, it rips apart communities who get involved with the concept no matter how it is dressed up to look pretty.

I've not seen my BTC 20 yet. I'll give him another 24 hours before adding him to the list of scammers.
if he sends you 20 that also makes him a scammer, if he refunds you your money then theres no reason to list him as a scammer, he admitted that he screwed up and so long as he refunds then theres no reason to go to the extreme of listing him as a scammer, after all it was pretty pretty clear that he was joking which is why i only risked .03, although it was a very hard earned .03

anyway i have now received my refund of .03, but i would have liked to have received .06 in return even if that made him a scammer ;D

He's only a scammer if he fulfils his promise (to pay me BTC 20) with someone else's money. If he fulfils the promise with his own BTC, he's honest.

Really? There is some difference between his money and other's money? I say if he fulfills all promises he is not a scammer.

I don't think we disagree.

If he fulfils all his promises, he is not a scammer.

If he fulfils his promise to me, he has not scammed me. However, if he fulfils his promise to me by scamming someone else (which I loosely referred to as "with someone else's money"), then he is a scammer.

(Still waiting to see my BTC 20 from 'weed').

Yeah, we agree. If he's just putting off the default he's a scammer.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Though I think weed is just dumb, not intentionally malicious.
